Cat smiled as they got back to the castle.
"I had fun this afternoon," she said. "Thanks for spending the time with me." |
"Any time." Remus was a little surprised to find he really meant that, but he still smiled at her. "Enjoy your evening, Cat."
"You too, Remus," Cat replied with a smile. She gave him a little wave and headed down to the dungeons, towards the Slytherin common room.
Remus headed up the stairs towards the Gryffindor common room, still contemplating how things had turned out. Hopefully Sirius would be along shortly gushing about his date, which would sufficiently distract Remus.
Sirius did not disappoint. He got back to the common room a little after Remus, beaming and practically skipping.
"Went well, I take it," Remus observed dryly from his nice cushy armchair. Oh this was going to be entertaining, he could tell.
"Went exceptionally well," Sirius replied, grinning. "Moony, my man, she was-- amazing. Fantastic. I asked her out again."
"Already?" Remus blinked, surprised. "That was fast. Not wasting any time with this one, are you?"
Sirius just grinned.
"I'm telling you, she's worth it," he said. |
"You are already lost on her," Remus said, amused. "She didn't even have to hex you."
“She’s just—“ Sirius sighed. “I can’t explain it.” He glanced at Remus. “Though you’re one to talk, I know for a fact we crossed your trail in Hogsmede, and you were with a certain feline.” He raised an eyebrow.
Remus shrugged. "Ran into her," he said honestly. "Wasn't expecting to."
“I caught the scent in a few places,” Sirius challenged, smirking a bit. “Honeydukes, The Three Broomsticks... Moony, did you go on a date with her?”
"Don't be ridiculous," Remus replied calmly. "I didn't. We met on accident and she suggested a drink, that's all."
“You’ve never gone to get drinks with a Slytherin before,” Sirius pointed out, more to be a troll than anything. “She must be special.”
"You've never gone to get drinks with a girl that's threatened multiple times to hex you," Remus pointed out, deadpan.
"Ah, but that's what makes it fun," Sirius said, grinning. "Adds spice."
Remus snorted. "I won't be the one to undo the hex when you get yourself into trouble, just saying," he told Sirius.
“Moony, you wound me,” Sirius said dramatically. “Such a lack of faith in me!”
"More like I know you too well," Remus replied, though his lips were twitching in an effort not to smile.
Rolling his eyes, Sirius flopped onto a nearby couch and looked around the common room.
“Prongs still out with Evans?” he asked. |
"Far as I can tell," Remus agreed. "I half-expect they've found a quiet corner." He smirked.
Sirius snorted.
“Or in a broom closet,” he said. He smirked. “Wouldn’t be hard to track them down.” Not that he intended to prank James, not while he was with Lily. They all liked Lily; she put up with them. Sirius was quiet for a moment. “So what’s the situation with Cat?” he finally asked. “Now that she knows about things.” |
Remus frowned at that, resettling himself in his seat. "She's not told anyone yet," he murmured. "She won't, for now. She's keeping an eye on me." He smiled wryly at that; he couldn't even blame her for that.
Sirius made a face.
"I don't like this," he said. "She could tell people at any time." |
