"She's impossible to study with." A shake of the head accompanied the sigh that escaped her lips.
"too hyper even without sugar?" he assumed.
"Too focused when she studies that you can't ask her questions, or get anything out of her. She's like a computer, retaining so much information it's ridiculous. She gets into something, unless she speaks to you, it's useless."
Riku hummed lightly at that response, completely understanding that sentiment. "I know what you mean, I was once forced to work with someone like that. In the end, I did all the work on the project and if I didn't tell the teacher about it, we would have both received a failing grade," he admitted as he remembered his 'friend'
"Oh, She's amazing with actually doing the work, It's just hard to talk to her when she gets to work. She'd carry a team easily if you let her."
"So basically don't compete against her in anything, may it be books, studying or video games. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if she's a speed runner on older video games" Riku commented before folding his arms behind his head and walking next to Kisara.
"You know, I've never asked her. I mean, I know a few things but she doesn't talk about a lot of things. From what we've discussed she didn't have a good home life so she keeps it away from everyone."
"Gotcha. I won't mention it then" he replied honestly.
Kisara looked around cautiously before looking to him, "Well, We both live alone. My parents are out a lot due to business and she earns enough to afford a small apartment. But really she makes just enough to sustain herself and lifestyle. She does work for people online. Tech stuff is all she says."
"I will keep that in mind but will you two be okay by yourselves?" He asked.
"We've been like this for a while. I think we'll be safe. Nothing has changed enough to be concerned."
"Alright, but I'm going to worry about you all the same."
"It's fine. I thank you for the concern but I can handle myself." She smiled
"You're a friend. I'm suppose to worry, it's in the job description," he joked. "And don't take this the wrong way, but are we there yet?" Riku asked, curious.
"One more block." She said as they approached a rather large house that would suit a family of four. "This is it." She pulled out her keys to get inside. "Thank you for walking me home." She gave him a hug. She felt it wasn't a strange thing since they both knew each other very well. Even if it wasn't in person.
"Don't mention it and I'll see you tomorrow Kis-chan," he said after returning the hug. After seeing her successfully enter her house and turn on a light, he turned around and started heading home himself. Pulling out his phone, he answered his father's text saying that he was walking a friend home after a night out and would be home shortly. As he was about to turn the corner, he grabbed onto the street post, feeling extremely dizzy for a second. He didn't know that Kisara had also seen this...
As soon as she noticed him walking again, Kisara sent him a quick text. 'Is everything okay?'
'Not sure. I have no idea what that was,' Riku quickly texted back, honestly unsure as to what that was...
'Get some rest then. I won't go tonight.' She replied back before sending a second text. 'i'll go tomorrow after we are sure you are okay.'
'Alright...thx' Riku texted back before continuing back home. However, he didn't get any more dizzy spells which worried him. Just what the hell was going on?
At least the rest of the evening was boring... Wasn't it? Riku went about his nightly routine involving his family but it wasn't until he fell asleep that it was time to act. Patiently waiting for the right moment to perform the introduction. Riku's eyes opened and it was then time for those familiar words.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room my dear boy." The long-nosed man spoke from behind a desk. He waited until Riku was up and acknowleged him with a look. "My name is Igor... I am delighted to make your acquaintance." Igor gave his smile and proceeded to wait for Riku to speak. |
Riku slowly sat up, looking around, surprised at the look of the military base that he was in. Feeling something on his head, he reached up and felt a helmet upon it. Looking around, he was still confused as to why his dream was of a military base...he hated the military because of how often he had to be 'the new guy'...
"You said your name was Igor, right? And that this was the velvet room...but what exactly is that?" Riku asked, still wondering what the hell was actually going on. |
"This place exists between dream and reality. Mind and matter. It's a place that is tied to the very depths of your soul. The room is shaped to that of the visitor..." He gave a chuckle. "... In this case, it's a little different. But I have called you here because you have begun to awaken to a power, one that holds the key to the future. Now... Why don't you introduce yourself."
"Before I introduce myself, you say I'm about to awaken to a power...is that why I got dizzy this evening with my friend?" Riku asked. Though at least Igor did answer his question.
Igor chuckled, "Perhaps. Your power works in such strange ways, it is one I have seen before."
