We must fight for our Internet!
https://i0.wp.com/media.boingboing.n...g?w=1024&ssl=1
Seriously, if you're living in the US, whether or not you want to care about what goes on behind the curtain or not, you WILL be affected by the FCC's fight to kill Net Neutrality on December 14th. Net Neutrality is what allows you, me, your friends, your parents, your enemies, your pets, your reflection, etc. equal access to the Internet regardless of what ISP you use and where you decide to go to. Youtube, Netflix, Facebook, Reddit, Gaia Online, Menewsha, not of it gets slowed down or sped up just because of what service you use, or if they advance the agenda of the people in charge of those ISPs. This is in jeopardy. And we will ALL be affected. Heard the name Ajit Pai? No? How about seen a picture of him? No? Well, time to know your enemy. He's a former Verizon Lawyer who has lobbied on behalf of Verizon to kill Net Neutrality so companies like Verizon, ComCast, AT&T, and Time Warner can pick and choose what sites you can go to, what you'll have to pay extra for, and if you can even see certain content. Period. Know this guy. Study this smugness. Train every pore in your body to hate this unelected hack. That right. He's not an elected official. He was appointed to the FCC Body by Obama, then elevated to head the FCC by Donnie Tinyhands Trump. He'll head the department for 5 years. What can we do? We make our voices heard. We don't go quietly. We call the FCC, we call Ajit Pai himself, we call the other members of the body. We call our Congress people. We sign petitions. We join protests. We spread the word. Don't sleep on this fight. You don't have the time to sleep on it. They certainly didn't sleep, and neither should we. https://www.battleforthenet.com Let's do all we can to keep our online communities alive. Let's fight to keep our ability to keep our online resources for entertainment, gaming, community, and education alive. Let's take a stand against corporate greed. If we lose, we must continue to fight. If a rouge party can fight 100 times to repeal a healthcare bill that they weren't going be able to for 8 years, and be too incompetent to do so for most of the ninth, then we can fight for a free and open Internet 10,000 times. |
I've sent some emails, but I'm too afraid to call because talking on the phone terrifies me. u__u
But also losing net neutrality is terrifying. If I wasn't recovering from surgery and on pain medication, I would probably try, but I don't want to call and babble and make no sense. I'm barely able to type properly. xD; |

I would encourage you to spread the word to as many friends and people that you can. If you can't talk to a representative or attend a protest, I will hope that you can alert people who can. |

I wish I could help with this. I'm not a US citizen and I'm freaking out about it for you guys.

I mean, even if you think you can't help, or don't fully understand, you might reach someone who can do something and fully understands. To be honest, I don't know how many US based users are here, but I don't think anyone should be excluded for arbitrary reasons. Especially in the name of corporate greed. ---------- Post added 11-30-2017 at 12:37 AM ---------- Quote:

I wish their was a petition we could sign online. It may be a other way help get the word out. But on a other note I am to shy make a phone call are write a letter. Mostly cause my hand writing is hard to read at times. For others, besides my bad grammar.

Sign them. Sign them all. Spread them all too. Barring that, Youtubers have been talking about this left and right because you will *never* hear about it on corporate media. More than ever, Youtube and social media are our best tools. The more who become aware, the more voices we have. |
I've already signed all the petitions :)
They posted them on tumblr. But it's kind of scary because even tumblr is trying to silence people who talk about net neutrality. :( |

I have signed just about all of them. Except the last one I don't want. Hand out my phone number. Due to getting annoying random phone calls.

Also, remember, don't just rely on the courts just because there's a chance they might be able to help us. We have to keep reaching people and encouraging them to fight in favor of Net Neutrality among other issues, so that pressure is applied to go in the right direction. If we sleep on any issue, they'll slip their way back to the wrong direction. |
Signed and shared on FB.
Though, I really don't think this will pass. I hope not at least. |
I've signed many petitions about this, but it pisses me off that this is a thing YET AGAIN.
|
Do you guys really think this will go through? It's pretty scary if it means what this says it means

I do thank you for helping. Every voice, every effort helps. ---------- Post added 12-01-2017 at 01:43 AM ---------- Quote:
First we fight to preserve the net, then we have to fight to get money out of politics once and for all. Look into Wolf-PAC when you get a chance. http://www.wolf-pac.com ---------- Post added 12-01-2017 at 01:48 AM ---------- Quote:
This is why the people have to fight in every way possible. We're long overdue for a revolution. The one that should've happened when the Great Recession hit. We can't bank on the courts helping us. We have to put pressure on the courts, Congress, and everyone in power to do the right thing. Like Women's Suffrage. Like Desegregation. Like Ending Slavery. Like Ending Child Labor. These were hard fought battles our previous generations fought for. I *wish* I could say "ancestors", but some of our grandparents or great-grandparents were alive for these things. Expect the worst, and fight for the best. |
hummy:
Don't know how to do an everyone ping, but I'm taking the invite practice. By the by, making sure we're all aware of the Day of Protest; December 7th. Spread the word. If you can't be there, you may reach someone who can. Perhaps even people who can host *more* protests. |
