I had a bad spell last week but am ok now. I need to change my cars oil. And my chickens have slowed down laying in the cooler weather... life goes on.

Inzanebraned 11-15-2019 10:33 AM

Does weather pressure systems affect your health or how you feel?
I haven't felt "right" since we had a dramatic pressure drop about a month ago.
I read that sudden drops in weather pressure can affect people with heart disease and pulmonary disorders.
I hope you continue to be doing better! [heart]

Would some kind of heater help the chickens question

I hope everybody is doing well or better

kelseydee 11-16-2019 12:09 AM

A light and heat would trick the chicken's into laying during their off season, but I just let them b natural.

Namune 11-16-2019 12:51 AM

What's raising chickens like? Do you have any "specials" that lay the fun color eggs?

kelseydee 11-16-2019 03:12 AM

They're like any other bird. Cept they live in a coop. I let them out by day but button them up at night. They know who I am and come running when they see me. I get cream and brown eggs mostly. Chicken r fun pleasant things. I don't eat my chickens but enjoy the eggs.ive only had chickens for less than 2 years. I live on a rural road. But backyard chickens r a thing now. The chicken chick on fb is helpfull.

I'm told my uncle started taking care of chickens recently. They found a dog on the side of the road and she grew up with the chickens and now herds them around outside of the coop.

hummy 11-16-2019 06:02 PM

my Godmother's chickens used to peck at me when I gathered up their eggs

Namune 11-17-2019 03:22 AM

It's weird knowing back in the day of peasants people could rarely eat their own eggs because the money from selling them was more important.

hummy 11-17-2019 08:23 PM

I only like to dip and to the yoke so I'd be good with selling them

Depends on how many chickens u had

I have to say my chickens r foul feather brained food freaks. They would eat 24/7 if they could

Namune 11-18-2019 04:49 PM

Do you give them a special diet, or is it standard feed and free range grazing?

kelseydee 11-19-2019 02:44 AM

I feed them barnyard scratch feed. It's got a little of everything in it plus I give them oyster shell . Anything else they want they can forage for while they're out during the day. In warm weather they're the bomb on tick control.

So I was growing my whiskers but I broke down and shaved tonight.then I took a picture and updated my fb account. Wifelady said I was grinning like the Cheshire cat. I don't see it but was flattered none the less. I can't post the pic here for some reason. Ohhhh welllll

Namune 11-20-2019 01:26 AM

Ticks are the woooooorst. I've done my best to avoid them for a decade.

Sad I can't see the selfie!

hummy 11-20-2019 02:30 PM

Across the road from us, it's a rural lane with a odd mix of trailers ,farms and mansions. Anyway so there's 3 trailers across the street from us and on the hill behind them is a farm pasture. So the farmer got some cows and has the hay bails right there by the fence. So cows r added to the live stock I see near to our home. Me and wifelady r happy here. Sistergirl who was part of my home got married and moved out. They're doing fine and I've never seen her happier.
Wifelady and me went to daughtergirls house for Thanksgiving. It was very nice. Hope all of u had a happy Thanksgiving too.

Inzanebraned 11-29-2019 11:23 AM

I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Sarah, the BF and I went to Hope's parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner.
As we were leaving our house I got a phone call informing me that MelbaToast's oldest son's truck had broke down...and as luck would have it, the BF had the tow truck from work because he was on-call for the day...so he went to rescue Grandson and I drove Sarah in the van.
MelbaToast and her man and her 4 kids were there for dinner...along with MelbaToast's oldest son's girlfriend and Hope's other Grandma.
The food was great and it was nice to be under the same roof with my entire family.
Everybody stayed late and long past bedtime...
As everybody was preparing to leave, Hope went to her bedroom and hid...when I found her, she was crying. I asked her why she was crying and she said that she didn't want everyone to leave and that she wished that I could hide in her closet so I wouldn't have to go home.
Oh, the heartstrings were tugged hard!
I laid on her bed for a few minutes and told her that if things were different I would love to hide in her closet...but that it was important for me to go home to get Sarah to bed.
About then, the BF came in and Hope got distracted trying to get him to play with her and we all went downstairs so she could give Sarah a hug and tell her goodbye.
(Earlier, before we ate, I happened to see Hope giving Sarah a hug and telling her that she missed her! How sweet!)
One last banana bread cookie and a piece of turkey and a taste of the strawberry rhubarb pie that I left a chunk of for Hope to have during the next day, and Hope had come to terms with our departure and hugs and kisses and goodbyes were exchanged and it was time for Hope to brush teeth and get ready for bed and l made my exit.
The BF, driving the tow truck, took Grandson and his girlfriend home and left the broken down truck with them before meeting me and Sarah at home.
It was a good day/night and coincidentally convenient that Grandson didn't get stranded with broken down truck!
I guess it's not called "Thanksgiving" for nothing! Haha!

kelseydee 11-29-2019 10:48 PM

I'm so glad for u. ❤❤❤

How was yours?

Namune 11-30-2019 11:42 PM

Decent enough. No leftovers to savor like everyone else. Either today or tomorrow I'm going to try my hand at making a turkey since they gave them out at work.

Yummmmmmy

Namune 12-01-2019 12:51 AM

An 11 pound turkey all to myself! *forever alone ensues*

Kaderin Triste 12-01-2019 02:16 AM

I'd say I'd share it, but I don't eat turkey...

Inzanebraned 12-01-2019 04:38 AM

I only eat turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas...and that's only because I get invited to dinner at one or the other of my kids' homes for holiday dinner.
