That is definitely taking it too far! I take Selfies from time to time (because it helps give me control over pictures of me, and if I don't like them, I can just delete them. [yes]) But I'm not obsessed with it, like I feel some people are.

I use pictures via skype to show what I look like and then delete them. I hate pictures of myself and will only take them if asked by someone I trust. I typically ask that they delete it as well... but who knows...

I deleted over 900 photos on my photobucket.
I had gifs, stupid edits, gaia avatars, gaia banners, gaia profiles. Gaia. HA!
