That was awesome. I'm not sure whether I like Sylar as a villain, or hero. Probably Villain, since he seems more witty that way.
|
Arthur Petrelli's repeated pop-ups are starting to get annoying. Too numerous, and always too convenient.
I suspected that Gabrielle wasn't really a Petrelli from when Angela first claimed it. Too many pieces just didn't fit. I'm almost sorry he did find out the truth though, because I liked him as a good guy. Sure, he makes an excellent villain, but I liked all the character development he went through as a hero. I hope he hasn't lost all that now. Besides - what was the point of learning that he could acquire abilities without killing if he now just reverts back to killing? I can understand in the case of the "human lie detector" - he needed answers fast and couldn't waste time trying to acquire her abilities the nice way while the world is at stake. (Yes, I agree - that scene had a lot of humor in it! Probably funniest Sylar scene since when Sylar made waffles!) I don't like that he killed Elle though - he had nothing to gain by killing her since he already has her abilities. Except closure maybe, to a relationship he now sees himself as unfit for. That, and probably in his mind, she still represented all those people who are trying to control him. Although - why didn't Sylar take Arthur's brain? Is Arthur really even dead? The bullet didn't even go into the right part of the brain! |
I watched the 1st season and liked it.
I watched the 2nd season and was tired of it... Don't know why, it wasn't the same. I was getting... pissed of with some things. maybe with barely having anything new, not even some action on the later episodes... |
WOW an episode i actually liked~!! Go Ando kun~!!
though i am annoyed that Nikki (whoeveR) is still around, and just ends up killing off a character who was pretty much harmless. |
The whole sylar deal reminded me a lot of Saw xD
It was a cool episode though! wish mohinder finally died though :[ oh well |
So is Hiro powerless forever now then? Peter got his powers back but the formula was destroyed..
|
at least we still get some brotherly-love action goin' on
XD |
I second the "yay for Ando-kun". I'm glad someone deserving did end up with an ability.
On the other hand, since they had Mohinder live, they'd better redeem him next story arch. In a major way too, or there won't be any way that I will like him again. I was relieved when Nikki finally died. But then Tracy showed up, and I hoped that she might not be a character I hated as much. No such luck. Why couldn't Tracy been one of the deaths in that episode? I noticed that Peter isn't healing that cut on his cheek - does that mean he has to reacquire all the abilities he used to have? I'm sure Hiro isn't powerless forever - just until they figure out a way to return his powers to him. Ando-Daphne could even go back and time and steal another vile of the formula to give to Hiro or something. But I suspect they might leave him powerless for awhile first for a few reasons. For one thing, "Mr. African Issac" made a point of teaching Hiro how to think instead of relying on his powers - and now we had a brief glimpse of him again to remind us of that. The other theory on that is a little less concrete. Season 1 - future Hiro came back in time to stop one potential future. Season 3 - future Peter came back in tie to stop another potential future. I think that the writers want to start going towards some horrible potential future that has nobody who can come back and stop it from happening. Except we've already had a glimpse of that future. It's basically the same future that future Peter came from - where people with abilities are hunted and locked away. The details of the short-term future may have been changed, but in the long run things are still heading that way. That last clip of Nathan turning on everyone proves it. Nathan is still the current/future villain that is going to hunt down his own kind with the help of the government. Only this time, no future Hiro or Peter is going to come back and shoot Nathan, or use some other means to prevent that future. They are going to have to come up with some other solution. I did notice that Micah's picture was in the packet being handed to the president - I hope that means that he comes back next story arch. I think he is an underappreciated character. |
OMG
!!!!!! I cant wait for the next series to star in Feb! That show is awesome xD |
I am so stoked for the new season! 14 days left! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
The series has gotten really predictable and all.. but I still can't wait. >_< I hope Sylar isn't really dead. He's my favorite. XD |
The writer's would have to be suicidal in order to permanently kill off Sylar. I know I'd be one of the millions of protesting fans if they did.
Besides, (spoiler, so highlight to read): In one of the first few episodes in Volume 4 - "Shades of Gray" we supposedly will learn more about Sylar. |
lol I know, right? XD I would complain, and I know a ton of other people would as well. I'm kinda sick of the characters dying and then coming back.. but I WANT Sylar to come back. Everyone else can stay dead... please. >_>
And yay, that's exciting (the spoilers :p) |
Did you guys know the actor who plays Sylar is playing Spock in the new Star Trek movie???
|
@Eroy - Yes! I'm totally excited about it too. XD I'm in love with Zachary Quinto. <3
|
That's his name! I keep forgetting
|
Yeah, I've read that he'll be in it - sounds like motivation to see the movie! (I've watched the older movies, but I haven't really seen the newer stuff - but anything with Zachary Quinto will have to be good!)
Zachary Quinto has to be one of the most talented actors out there! Just the range of (acting) abilities he has shown in Heroes attests to that! |
I love the series. I didn't watch it at first becuase I thought it would be too much like X-men. I LOVE it now. My friend made me watch the first series. I totally got addicted. Sylar is my favourite. Along with Hiro.

Anyone else have thoughts on Chapter 4 so far?
Honestly I don't really like the underlying story arch direction that they are taking the show in (persecution by the government), but I haven't stopped watching the show yet. Not only that, but it pisses me off that they've turned Nathan into the villain. All the character development that he went through obviously means squat. The only people he cares about are the ones directly related to him. (Although it seems odd that nothing has been mentioned about deals to protect his mother - after all - she is one of them too! She may be a precog, but she can't foresee every opportunity for someone to capture her. She obviously didn't succeed last season in doing that.) There are still a few things in the show I find redeeming. Like Hiro and Ando scenes are still good. I also really like the stuff with Sylar and his new-found brother. Sylar really does steal the show. I also think that Sylar isn't quite done with his "sometimes good sometimes bad" role he started last season - he might just be the hero of this season after he's done taking care of his Daddy Issues. He's about the only one powerful enough, considering Peter can't do much (also like last season). |
I actually love the current story arc. I find it's realistic, and I think we all knew it was going to happen. I'm not much a fan of Nathan, he's a politician, and he's acting like one, really. He's easily manipulated and he has a scewed conscience. As I was saying about it being realistic, think about it. When WWII started, or more accurately when Pearl Harbour happened, the Japanese were thrown into interment camps because people were afraid they were spies. I truly believe something like this would happen if people randomly begun popping up with powers. People who didn't have said powers would fear them, since obviously not all of them would be do-gooders. They would be persecuted if their powers were found, and if any sort of large scale attack was made, the government would come for them. The only reason the government is coming for them without a large scale attack is because they have an 'inside man'. I don't see him as a villain, per say, I believe he's more trying to do what his mother had tried to do with 'The Company', except on a larger scale. I believe the 'Hunter' is the proper villain in this story arc, if you were to pick one.
I do love Sylar's little plot, I must say though. I've never believed him to be evil. Then again, we do know he does feel regret. He painted his closet walls with 'forgive me' and other sort of religious phrases and symbols. |
Personally, the beginning of this story arc did somehow remind me of the good ole Season 1 take on things. xDD;; I loved the fact that everyone was actually working together and thinking about plans together. I mean, if they did that in Season 3, a lot of things could have been prevented. But now, as more episodes are coming, I'm starting to doubt again. =\
Not sure what I think of Nathan as the villain. Tracy is redeeming herself slowly, kinda. =\ Hiro and Ando are awesome as always, but I didn't care much for their Indian escapade. Matt and Daphne are tolerable, although we know what happens there anyway, so, yeah. ^^;; Sylar and Luke are cute. xDD;; Although I hope they don't stretch the "find your dad" thing for too long. It's a potentially good story arc, but just like Hiro's feudal Japan escapade, it can go wrong if it's too slow. The Bennet family angst is really SO redundant now too. I mean, they have issues, but it's always the same thing, and I keep remembering the episode Company Man and how the recent events are diminishing its value somewhat. :< I liked that episode. xDD;; I'm also hoping that Alex isn't another love interest for Claire though. D: Heroes can't do good romances for me. >.>;; I would prefer it if they stayed just friends, since being special with powers doesn't mean that every guy you meet your age becomes your next love interest. xDD;; |
In Heroes it does! XD haha. I have been largely disappointed with their romances as well. I think I liked Eve/Mohinder the best out of all of them, really. I didn't like any of Peter's romances (I was beginning to like the Irish girl, but they just left her in the future), and the Sylar/Elle romance made me begin to find her annoying. I think the writer just doesn't like girls. I mean, there aren't really that many in the series in general (compared to the guys, especially). But oh well.
I do agree I hope they don't stretch Sylar's father finding plot too much farther, but they might. Rumors say in the next episode he remembers something about his mother, so... You know... I hope they at least make it interesting. |
I hate all of Peter's romances, to be honest. =\ Irish girl (Caitlin?) was annoying. ^^;; I mean, to be, Peter was only gravitating towards her because she was the first person to be nice to him when he lost his memories and all, and I dunno. Peter's the type who wants to be loved and stuff (being empathetic and all), so, he sort of depended on Caitlin on that. I was actually glad she got left in the future. xDD;; She served no real purpose for me. >.>;;
Although, even if I don't like her, it's unfair that she was forgotten like that. ^^;; One of Heroes' many strange plot holes. D: Claire and West annoyed me to hell also. =\ He was such a stalker! xDD;; He was supposed to be the son of Bob, according to a report, and that was why he was spying on her and stuff in the first place (if you remember his first appearances). But they scrapped the idea, and he just became downright creepy. ^^;; Don't get me started with Matt and Daphne or Sylar and Elle either. >.>;; I can tolerate them, but I wish they were handled better than they were. =\ I agree though about Mohinder and Eve being cute together. :> It wouldn't have worked out in my head though, but it at least was decent for a fling sort of thing. xDD;; My favorite couple would be Micah and Molly though. LOLZ. Yes, they're underage, but I think that they're adorable together. xDD;; And they deserve more screen time, seriously! They're so under-appreciated, especially since they're lovable characters in their own right. =P ... sorry for a long-ish post. ^^;; |
Yea, actually it was because of the writer's strike that she got left in the future. They originally planned to actually do something with that, including going back and getting her, but when it ended, they scraped the idea about that too. They scrap decent ideas and leave plot holes. The only decent romance for Claire would've been Zac. That one would've been cute.
Yea, Mohinder and Eve wouldn't have lastest long, but it was still cute! I liked Elle before they introduced the idea of her being a romance option for Sylar. Barely believable, really. I liked her better when she was a sociopath. |
Yeah, I heard about that. =\ I wished they wouldn't scrap ideas though. D: I mean, the strike shouldn't have stopped them from at least mentioning her. I hate Caitlin, personally, but she deserves a mention or some comment from Peter, at the very least. =|
And Claire and Zack were cute. :3 I like them more as friends though, because he was such a good friend to her. Especially since I know that if they got together, the show would ruin it with their crappy romance-making skills. xDD;; And yeah, I liked Elle before Sylar too. =\ To me, it seemed forced, and I dunno, it's like they just decided that it would be awesome if they got together and stuff. It could have been handled better. Especially since the very first time they actually come face to face in the show, they don't even mention that they know each other and act surprised (when Bob was killed and the prisoners were released from Level 5). If they had such a history together, they would have acknowledged each other. =\ Instead, they only noticed each other after that incident, as if they just decided after filming the previous episode that they should get together. =\ ... sorry for the rant. It annoyed me when I realized it myself. xDD;; <3 |
Your rant is fine. I had a similar one a few pages back about how Sylar and Elle acted like complete strangers before they were 'set up as a couple'. Then suddenly they have this whole forced backstory that doesn't even manage to get the timing right with other established events. Then once they actually became a couple, the potential plot developments from that (aka mainly Sylar's new way of obtaining powers) was completely mowed over like it never happened. So what was the point really?
I agree on the part of Caitlin too. I never particularly liked her as a character, but it wasn't right to just leave that whole arch hanging like that. There was no reason for Peter to not at least go rescue her, even if they didn't stay together. Big gaping holes like that annoy me. They've let some other characters drop off the radar as well (although none in mortal peril), some that I miss, some that I don't. I agree with Rylynne - most missed are Micah and Molly! I don't care if they look a a little old for their role now - they are ridiculously underappreciated! Besides, it'd be easy for Heroes to find some excuse for them to be slightly "aged" somehow to fit the actors. Just please - don't turn Claire into one of those characters that has a different boyfriend every season x.x Mohinder and Eden was cute. It was sweet, but not overdone. Mohinder with Maya made me want to gag and seemed incredibly forced. I didn't mind Maya too much during Season 2, but Season 3 made me hate her character. She had been reduced to a bitchy slut who had suddenly completely lost her linguistic and cultural background. I don't know what the writers or Mohinder saw in her. Although Mohinder was so horribly (personality-wise) mangled during that arch that I grew to hate him too. Can't say he has been doing a good job about redeeming himself this arch either. At this point, they pretty much have to kill him off in some way that at least partially redeems him in death. But I doubt that will happen. </rant> I also agree that the episode Company Man has had its value diminished by later events. Mr. Bennet clearly is no longer prioritizing his family, or they wouldn't be in this mess. |
