NANA {Manga by Ai Yazawa}
Mangas are considered books so this is fine to go here. Plus NANA isn't some ordinary manga. NANA is a revolution... I swear. It is a phenomenon.
NANA is not only a manga, but a live-action movie & an anime... & a cafe....!! It is a story about two girls both called NANA {one later own is nicknamed Hachi to avoid confusion} who by chance meet on a train towards Tokyo. One wants to be a singer of a band, the other wants love. Although they are complete opposites, they become best friends. I love this story because it's so dramatic, it has no magic at all {shojo stories usually do... UGH!}, & the characters are in their early 20's & not high school kids for once, thank goodness!! Have any of you either read the manga, seen the live-action movies, or the anime? Also it's been rumoured that a live-action drama will be coming soon. I hope they go through with it!! To keep up on the NANA phenomenon, you can check out... www.nana-nana.net :D Best NANA information site {in English} on the whole damn internet!! :D |
I've been reading the manga as it comes out, and I saw the first dozen or so episodes... Then I fell behind. ;-; I haven't been able to see the movies yet, but I know a girl who got to play the role as an extra in the second one! ^_^

Manga, anime, movie. Seen all, loved all.
God, it's such an amazing story. I would DIE for Nana.... xD The characters are so real and well developed. The cast for the movie was also perfect. The first one, mind you. The second one coming out soon replaced too many of the awesome actors. |
Do you know where I can watch the second movie with subtitles? I can't find it anywhere. D:
|
Since it's licensed, I don't think it's legal to show the entire movie online anywhere. Sorry...
My friend bought it from Japan and I've only watched a bit at her house. |
I know I saw the first movie online... but that's it. D:
|
You did? Where?
|
|
Oh, I dislike using BT. It's slow and my computer seems to hate it so much it seizures every time I use. it.
Awesome cosplay! It's like right on! 8) Even got the fishnets and the ring and everything. Ebay helped? xD |
Ebay is helpful if you feed it monies. 8)
|
Oh yes, I can totally relate. It tried to eat my wallet. :?
|
It ate my credit card. :( *paying it off*
|
Aww... *pats* Gotta indulge once in a while though. Find comfort in the fact that you looked uber smexy. 8)
|
Thankyou. XD I made my boyfriend cosplay NANA too, as Ren Honjo! Haha.

Sorry, I got the lock from China Town here. XD
|
*emoemo*
xDD |
I'm pretty sure you can find it from Ebay though!!
|
Yeah, Ebay has everything.
It probably has Brad Pitt's toenails or something too. Gross... |
I'm a bit sad NANA is currently on hiatus but it's been going on for a couple of years non-stop so Yazawa-sama does need a break. D:
|
I've read all the Shojo Beats, up to January's issue.
and I've also read the first Nana manga. The story is really good, I just love it also. ;D I just love Ai Yazawa, her other manga series, Paradise Kiss, is also super amazing! |
Thought I'd ask this here. Hopefully someone will know. xD
Does anyone know if and when the second Nana movie will be out in the states? I love the manga and the first movie, so I was wondering. |
I would think that if the first one, then the second one, but I have no idea really.
I am a rabbid Yasu fan- I even made a latchook Yasu square. When I first started reading the manga, I nearly expected him to be gay- he's so perfect! *swoons* While watching the anime (anime comes out faster than the manga, so my friends and I read the manga knowing whats going to happen, and its kind of ruined for us), it has been decided that my roomate is just like hatchi (early hatchi- before anything involving later stuff happens), and I am rather like Shin (excluding that prostituion thing). I hate hatchi- I like my room mate just fine- but hatchi.... grrr! |

On DVD? I'm not sure. But they already had an international premiere in the US. Mika Nakashima & Yui Ishikawa came to New York for the premiere. |
