What kind of crap is that?

I really don't like Bella, in case you couldn't tell. xD

Ah, yeah, THAT one was a bit overreacting. o_o
I mean, I can understand being crushed. I can understand being listless for a while. I can understand being depressed.
BUT NOT FOR SIX MONTHS, SWEET JESUS!
In her place, I would have been pretty well along in getting on with my life by then. Sure, it may still bum me when I thought about it, and I probably wouldn't be ready to start dating again, but I wouldn't be dead to the world.

Miss Ember - Well, keep in mind that it can't be 100% like the book. It just can't.
First of all, Twilight has A LOT of Bella's inner monologue. You can't have inner monologue in a movie, unless you want to use that cheesy echo-y voice over to signify thoughts. Which they're not going to do.
So Bella will say things that she didn't say in the book, so that the movie watcher will understand how she's feeling. Or she may just mumble to herself a lot.

Second of all, the book was 500 pages long. The movie's going to be like, two hours long or so. Or an hour and a half. Standard movie time. So there's going to be a lot of things that will be cut, and things that will have to be condensed into one new scene. They ARE having scenes that were not in the book, I know that for a fact. I've seen them. But they're taken from other scenes and condensed.

Now, if you were taking all of that into consideration already, then sorry for talking your ear off.
But I want to make sure you're not going to say "It wasn't like the book!" and mean that it wasn't a word-for-word version of the book. Changes will have to be made in order for it to work on screen.
Now, if they really fuck up, like they make one character act differently or something, then you have every right to yell and scream. I'll join in. XD

With the movie, I'm just really hoping that it stays true to the characters and their personalities and what I've gotten out of them. Other than that, I'm hoping it'll be great in its own way.

I finally got Eclipse. I am glad to borrow it and read it before the 4th one comes out. XD I think I will need to go early for that one. T-T I already saw signs saying "Reserve Breaking Dawn Now" so maybe there will be limited stocks the first day? D;

To be honest, I started disliking Bella's character in the second book. Spoiler Alert: Do not read when you haven't read New Moon! The fact that she kind of used Jacob. But after that she learned to love him and care about him. Which was I guess reasonable because Jake is a sweety. But I don't know, she couldn't stand back to her own feet and needed LOTS of help. I guess it annoyed me that she was kind of suicidal in the book. Even though she said that she wasn't. XP Anyways I haven't been in similar pain so I wouldn't know. But dammn... she made me feel kind of sad.

Fabby 07-18-2008 03:24 AM

@Cherry-- Exactly. I am traditionally a person who is a catastrophe on wheels when it comes to dealing with things like that, but even I would have been better about it. After six months you should be at least partially put back together. It's like she didn't even want to try anymore.
She had a three month relationship with him and she totally shuts down when he leaves? Come on. Thank god he's immortal. I can't imagine what she'd do if he died.

Cherry Who? 07-18-2008 06:58 PM

Fabby - Probably just off herself. :/
I mean, if he left her like, after Eclipse, when they had been together for like, a year and a half or something, then I could understand taking that long. But they had been together for only like, five months or something when he left her (Maybe it was six. I don't recall. She says in the book, though.)

Othello1 07-18-2008 10:31 PM

@Cherry Flavored Antacid
I sort of get what you mean, it was abit over the top

i mean 6months...half a year! bloody hell...it seems like shes overreacting if i was in Bella's shoes i would do anything to piss Edward off XD

Fabby 07-18-2008 10:46 PM

I thought they had only been dating for... like.. three months.
The recovery time should not be longer than the relationship!

Cherry Who? 07-18-2008 10:49 PM

No, I think it was six. Five or six.

Seiki Nova 07-20-2008 01:21 AM

You guys can actually find a detailed timeline of the events throughout the series here:

http://www.twilightlexiconblog.com/?page_id=9

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 01:41 AM

Thank you Seiki!

March 9th: Edward and Bella are officially together
September 15th: Edward leaves

Six months. *victory dance*
It just seems like less because there was a gap of a few months between Twilight and New Moon.

Fabby 07-20-2008 03:37 AM

DAMMIT, Fabby loses.
Cry.

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 04:28 AM

HURR HURR! :B *points and laughs*

Nah, just kidding. I probably would have thought the same thing if I hadn't read the book twice so recently.

LoversEnd 07-20-2008 05:18 AM

Oh yay! I have a feeling that I will be visiting this thread quite often. I'm going to the release party at the mall by my house. August 2nd also happens to be the day that my birthday party is being held on!! (My birthday is August 1st!) I should have pictures of the dress up contest being held at the bookstore.

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 05:28 AM

I'd go to the release party, but the nearest mall is half an hour away. I don't want to have to drive half an hour home at twelve thirty. >.O

Fabby 07-20-2008 05:31 AM

I could have sworn that she said three months in the book! Oh well. >w<

I'd go to the release party, but I don't care enough. xD
I do want to pre order it though. I can't wait to find out what happens... and good fucking luck finding it in a bookstore for the first month.

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 05:35 AM

Seriously. D:
I'm hoping that the area I live in is backwards enough that I'll be able to find it at like, walmart or something. Which is much closer than the (not so) local mall.

I already pre-ordered. I'm getting it the day that I go to the release party. OH! I pre-ordered the calendar too. >.> Teh-heh. :squee:

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 06:03 AM

There's a calendar? What does it have pictures of? Pictures from the movie? *likes the idea of an RPattz for every month*

LoversEnd 07-20-2008 06:07 AM

Mhmm, from the movie lol. It was at Walden Brooks (Walden Books? not sure.. D: )

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 06:31 AM

Waaaant~

They should do a swimsuit issue with everyone.
And by everyone, I mean Robert.
And by swimsuit, I mean speedo.

Tee hee.

LoversEnd 07-20-2008 06:44 AM

Ew. Lol, he's not portraying Edward as beautiful as I thought he would be. I mean.. not to say that he's ugleh, cause he isn't. xDD Just not as..immaculate?

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 07:11 AM

Mm, I guess I can see that.
But, like, I didn't read Twilight until after the movie was fully cast. And my boyfriend was a big Twilight fan before me, so I already knew that Robert Pattinson played Edward, and was familiar with what he looked like. So when I read the series, I imagined Edward as RPattz plays him.
So he's the perfect Edward for me. XD

There were a few, more minor (in the first movie) characters that I hadn't seen [much] before I read the books, however. So they don't look right to me.
Like, mostly Rosalie and Jacob.
The girl they got to play Rosalie is very pretty, don't get me wrong. But she's not as pretty as I imagined Rosalie.
And Jake's just all wrong.... I don't know. I mean, he's got that goofy, happy look that totally fits Jake, but... it's just not Jake to me. *shrug* But neither are a huge deal. I'm accepting them as their respective roles.
The guy they got to play Billy Black is PERFECT. I hadn't seen him before I read the books, but when I did finally see him, he was EXACTLY like I imagined.

Laurent on the other hand... no where near. I didn't imagine Laurent as a black guy. *shrug* I imagined him very pale, with very long, black hair. Sort of like a cliche vampire look.
James and Victoria are off, too. But they're not too bad. So, like Rosalie and Jake, I'm accepting them.

Fabby 07-20-2008 08:11 AM

xD Cherry, that is so wrong.

Heh. Maybe I'll be able to find it... somewhere.
I'd rather just pre-order.
The problem is getting the money and procuring a credit card.

As per the book, Laurent is described as "his skin olive-toned beneath the typical pallor, his hair a glossy black. He was of a medium build, hard-muscled, of course, but nothing next to Emmett's brawn".

I always knew he wasn't the typical white of the vampires by that description, but I always thought he would look like a pale amaretto color. like a light brown with a white glaze? XD

With the cast of Twilight, I only have a few problem actors that I'm not convinced of yet. The girl who plays Victoria. The girl who plays Rosalie. And Kristen Stewart (Bella). Everyone else I'm pretty much used to or in love with already. I have to say, I was shocked when they picked Jackson Rathbone (the guy I wanted to play Jasper long before he was cast) to play Jasper xD

Cherry Who? 07-20-2008 06:41 PM

Seiki - Yeah.
When I reread Twilight I noticed that I wasn't imagining him true to his description.

As for dark skinned with a white glaze.... think of a krispy kreme donut. There's Laurent's skin. :P

Fabby - So wrong or... so right? ;D
