Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
omg i cant believe its out!!!^^ i havent bought it yet but i know what its basically about! bellaxedward!!!!!! iam crazy about it;)
|
musicalhero, I've merged your thread with the original Twilight thread in this forum.
Please, read through the front page and check the forum index before ever creating a new topic. We don't allow repeats. |
Oh. I didn't know anything about Midnight Sun.
I have just started on reading Twilight. (I really like it and Stephanie Meyer did very great on Bella's and Edward's characterization.) I can't wait to finish them all. |
I heard that the first few chapters of Midnight Sun is leaked... can anyone tell me the link please? :]
|
Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that.
I'm not sure if we'd be allowed to give you the link though, since I think the leak is illegal. And hey, I think we're free to post spoilers without white text now. It's been over two weeks. |
Well, Stephenie has part of the first chapter on her site...
But I'm curious! I want to see! Could anyone... point me in the direction of a link? xDD Yay, no more highlighting. Anyway, something that was bugging me about Breaking Dawn; (spoiler warning; if anyone wants me to white it out anyway just yell at me) Why the hell do the vampire/human hybrids mysteriously stop growing at 17? That makes NO SENSE AT ALL. All of the Cullens are teenagers because they were changed around those ages, but Renesmee is a human and she grows. It would have made a lot more sense for her growth pattern to slow dramatically as she ages, so she goes very quickly through childhood and semi-quickly through teenager-hood then just passes slowly through adulthood. Since she's a vampire, it would make sense for her lifespan to be extended to maybe 150-200, but still die eventually. She's not immortal, y'know. :\ |
Because the book is written for teenagers, so everyone must stay forever a teenager (Bella at either 18 or 19, Edward at 17, Renesmee at 17, the rest as young adults).
And because it wouldn't be a perfect happy ending if Bella and Edward got to live forever and their kid didn't. But, lulz, Renesmee is going to stop growing when she is physically 17. So did Edward. So, basically, Edward and Renesmee will be able to pass more as sister/brother or boyfriend/girlfriend than father/daughter. XD Creepy. |
Yeah. I figured she'd do it because she just can't bear for one of her characters to not be a perfect, beautiful teenager (not to mention they might DIE! =o) forever even if it makes absolutely no sense.
It'd make even less sense if their daughter was 90 and they were both 17/18. xD |
Yeah. XDD
"Oh, is this your grandmother?" "Uhm....... sure....?" "Mom, did you see where dad went?" "...Did she just call you mom?" "....She's senile....?" |
But we probably won't get that far, because then she'd have to kill Charlie!
Unless he gets turned into a vampire too. e___e |
No, no, no.
Some SPECIAL hybrid vampire will come along and bite Charlie AND TURN HIM INTO A BEAUTIFUL IMMORTAL TEENAGER. AND SUE, TOO. WHY NOT. |
He'll... shrink? xD
Apparently, there is no such thing as an old vampire, unless that vampire happens to be part of the Volturi elite. Then they have to be old. e_e;; She's worse than a fanfiction author. Fanfiction authors just ignore the rules of the canon; she ignores the rules of HER OWN CANON. xD |

And yeah, you can post spoilers now. I haven't been on much to take that down DX |
After a quick Google search I discovered that Stephenie linked to the leaked chapters herself on her website, so you can read them legally.
Here it is. And you might as well read it, because she apparently doesn't feel like releasing this book for a long time. She's pissed it got out. :\ |

No, I didn't mean the first chapter. I meant the additional ones that were leaked. But if Stephenie's linking to them, then whatever. |
Oh yeah, I had assumed you were talking about the first chapter. I did do updates last night and linked everyone to the link Stephenie provided for everyone to read what had been linked.
|
(Nice av)
Yeah, I'll have to get around to reading the leaked stuff. I'm not in a huge Twilight mood lately, though. I'm getting a little sick of it. XD |
I really, really liked it. Much more than I liked Twilight, anyway. Edward's gushing is less obnoxious to sit through (although still fairly annoying).
I'm really sad she may not be finishing it. But hey, who can blame her, half her damn book was just leaked on the internet. |
She'll probably get over that fact soon enough. I mean, there's still people who haven't seen the whole thing, no one's seen a final draft, and leaks on the internet aren't going to be around forever. So future fans will never see it.
|
I do think that trashing the whole project is a bit extreme. Edward was nice, at least he gives reasons for being madly in love sometimes.
But from what I can gather about the author via her self insertion in her main character, she might. xD |
Or she'll spend six months in deep depression over it, and then after a few events act like it never happened and release it?
|
I think she might be too obsessed with Edward to not finish the story. :\
I'm hoping, anyway. |
I haven't even read the first chapter. Did you read the entire leaked version Fabby? How long is it?
|
I read it, or at least skimmed parts of it. It goes up to chapter 12.
|
I did read it, and it's a full half of the book. O__O;;
I think it was 250 pages or so? And I'm glad to see that the tightening of the eyes did not go away with a change of perspective. xD |
