I get to see the movie next Saturday. :D
I'm excited! Can't wait.

Stormy1 12-01-2008 11:38 PM

Yay for Cherry!
I get to see it for a third time Sunday. XD my friend is obsessed with it and he really wants the books now XD (though his twin wants to kill him.)

Nesseh 12-02-2008 06:09 AM

i saw the movie! on its first day, i was lucky i had no school that day. =]

Seiki Nova 12-02-2008 06:12 AM

Midnight showing ftw!~

Cherry Who? 12-02-2008 05:02 PM

HATE YOU ALL.

Schrodinger 12-02-2008 09:39 PM

I didn't really like it all that much... )^:
It was funny though. (if only unintentionally)
My favorite part was when Edward omnomnom'd the head board when he was sexing Bella.

I didn't like it because it was just so... typical, you know? It had its original parts, but even those were... uh... weird.
And I don't like how Stephanie Meyer writes. The way she describes Edward is stupid. (Sparkling? Come on.)

I guess I didn't like it because I thought it was too much like a fanfiction written by a horny teenager doped up on too much Anne Rice(I kinda liked Anne Rice's books, but meh. Was that too harsh of an opinion?)

I guess it's also because I'm not a fan of vampire romance novels. :^/

But, I read the whole series, mainly because I wanted to know what my friends were talking about, and secondly because I was hoping it would get better as it went along.

But this is all just my opinion, feel free to disagree :^)

Seiki Nova 12-02-2008 10:29 PM

Most people wold agree that it was written like fanfiction.

Schrodinger 12-02-2008 11:10 PM

Oh, so it's not just me then. :^) Good.
I was afraid I was being a bit harsh and sounding like a hater. Dx

Cherry Who? 12-03-2008 03:53 AM

Nah, the haters are the ones who irrationally like it and run around screaming that it's the worst thing to ever hit the earth while having never read it. That seriously pisses me off. >.<
It's one thing to think that something LOOKS bad, but to screech it around like cold-hard fact obsessively without having read it is it just ignorant and irritating.
But you've actually read it - ALL of them, which is impressive - and you're not being obnoxious about your hate, so I don't mind.
I admit its faults as well, believe me. But I enjoy it, so whatever.

Fabby 12-03-2008 08:17 AM

It's okay. I'm the world's worst fan, so we can hate together. :D

It confuses the fuck out of my boyfriend.
"ARGH. This is the worst written book I've ever read."
"Don't you love that book?"
"Yeah."
"...women..."

Cherry Who? 12-03-2008 09:05 PM

Oh Jesus, Breaking Dawn ate me last night. xD
I opened it for a reason that isn't relevant or interesting, and then it sucked me in. It was the wedding/honeymoon. Beginning of the book, you know.
God, I forgot how awesome Edward is. xD I was totally unaware of anything around me, or even myself. I was just in the book (I don't mean placing myself in Bella's shoes, I just mean wrapped up in the story). xD
I stopped once she started being preggor though because it's blechy to me.
I mean, it's a good story, I just don't like the idea of child-bearing/raising. And it's even scarier considering I'm almost as old as she is. >.O And while I do not pretend I'm Bella while reading the books, I do relate to her (yeah, I'm whiny >>), and wish for what she has (not a vampire boyfriend, just amazing love), so when she gets something that I by no means want, it freaks me out a little. xD
NO BABIES FOR CHERRY KTHNX.

Fabby - My boyfriend is one of the rare Twilight boys. He got me to read it. He was very careful to never hate on it until I was hooked, though because he REALLY wanted me to read it.
But I had so much trouble getting my mom to read it because I don't have such skill. xD
"You should totally read this. You know how much I love them and how fast I read them, and yeah, there's [problem] and then [problem] and [problem] and [fault], but I like it." And she'd be like "....I think I'll pass."
And then she only read a tiny bit at a time so she was stuck at the craptastic beginning for SO long. I kept telling her to keep reading because it gets better, but it took forever.
But I eventually managed to get her hooked. She started New Moon recently.

Twin powers, activate.

Annndd. I got my boyfriend to read it. :P
But he likes it. xD I think studying for finals are taking up his time now though, so he's not finishing it right now.

Cherry Who? 12-04-2008 05:11 PM

FORM OF A CHILDLESS WOMAN!

Hmm... I wonder if our boyfriends are twins too... O:
Your boyfriend is Thoth, right? He doesn't strike me as very much like my guy, but I'm sure there's some similarities somewhere. xD

`Kitami 12-04-2008 08:01 PM

XD <3

Yeah he is. :3
I dunno...with how alike we are, you'd think there'd be some similarities in that department too. :XD
But maybe not. Hahah I don't know your boyfriend, so I can't say.

Cherry Who? 12-04-2008 10:03 PM

Yeah, we must certainly have similar tastes in men! xD

Sizzla 12-04-2008 10:13 PM

Heh. Okay, so my friend got me to go see Twilight with her, and I was intrigued enough by the love story that I decided to listen to the audiobooks while I'm at work and in the car and stuff.
So, here are my short reviews:

Twilight = Not bad. Good story, and made me want to read/hear more.

New Moon = Okay. I still wanted to continue reading/listening.

Eclipse = Semi-fail. At this point, had I actually been reading the books, I would have stopped here. It wouldn't have been worth my time to actually read Breaking Dawn. But as I was listening to them when I was bored (ie. at work, in the car), I decided to continue on...

Breaking Dawn = FAIL! (though I'm not done, what I have heard so far is not impressive and slightly WTF!?) So much of the book so far has been SO ridiculous. I mean, I realize that she's invented her own vampire canon, but still... It's all so... MARY SUE!!!

Bella is such a whiny emo crybaby pants that it drives me crazy! So much for having a strong female character. I dunno. I think I'm too old for these books. I just can't relate to any of the characters really -- especially Bella. She's such a pushover and a martyr that it makes me ill. :/

I'll be back once I finish Breaking Dawn to give you the full review. XD

Fabby 12-05-2008 07:55 AM

I accidentally got my entire family hooked on it. >___>;;
My sister is now a full-blown Edward fangirl. She's been plastering her walls of the entire Google Images page for RPattz.

Sizzla 12-05-2008 05:06 PM

Wow, this book is getting more and more ridiculous! S. Meyer, what have you done to your characters? T_T

The whole "Bella's a perfect vampire -- she's not feral at all" business is just ridiculous. It would have been SO much better had she tried to eat some people and went a little crazy! No one can always get what they want, you know? What kind of suspense does that provide!? Good lord, it's entirely fanfiction. MARY SUE! MARY SUE!!

And Jake imprinting on Renesmee? PLEASE!?

The other books were way better than this one.

I'll be back for more again later I'm sure.

Cherry Who? 12-05-2008 05:07 PM

I've considered putting some pictures of him from a magazine or two that I get on the wall, but it seems wrong. Everything on my wall is music-related. Edward =/= music.

EDIT: I'm the only one who enjoyed Breaking Dawn, aren't I? xD;

Sizzla 12-05-2008 08:20 PM

 I think other people have enjoyed it, and it's not that I'm not enjoying it, but more like it gets more and more ridiculous the more I hear. I dunno. I just think Meyer threw all rules to the wind and decided to write fanfiction for the last book. Totally.

I'm trying to look at it from the standpoint of "This is a book for teenagers who want to hear about an idealistic love story that has a happy ending. Because tragedy isn't any fun."

Straken 12-05-2008 09:42 PM

I haven't read the books or seen the movie yet. I want to do both though. They seem like they are good.

Naw I enjoyed Breaking Dawn a lot, thus you are not alone.

`Haru 12-05-2008 10:41 PM

I've read Twilight but have yet to see the movie.

&& Cherry;; I liked Breaking Dawn alot... but Jacob- I prefer him to Edward- In my opinion, he should have ended up with Bella. I was left heart-broken in the end.
And Renesmee is so not right for him.

Sorry to all who say otherwise. But, that's just me.

Cherry Who? 12-06-2008 12:00 AM

I like Jake a lot, too.
I don't know if I like him more than Edward or not. They're sort of incomparable for me.
I can say with relative certainty that Jake ended up being the best character in the book, though. His motives were always clear, his actions and reactions were always realistic (if not ideal), and at times you could relate to him 10000x better than any other character.
He was the most "human" (no joke intended) character in the book, I think.

That all being said, I never had any shred of hope that he might end up with Bella.
I could have told you that simply by how Stephenie Meyer is. The way she writes her characters, the way she talks about them... she isn't able to pull herself away from them emotionally enough to give them anything but a perfect fairy tale ending (except for Leah). And of course, her first priority in the book is to give Bella and Edward their perfect ending, which they got. Which, unfortunately, left Jake without his, so she had to just slap him with Renesmee so she could have a perfect ending, too. Personally, that felt a bit sloppy and awkward. Not because she's a baby - I get that he doesn't want to sex her while she's a baby -, just it felt rushed.
Not to mention she has crazed fans who would have started a riot and sent her death threats had Bella ended up with Jake.

Jake said in some book or the other (I think Eclipse?) that being with him would have been the natural course that Bella's life would have taken had Edward died back in 1918 like he was meant to. And that's why it's easy to wish and imagine that they could have ended up together.
But when you look at Twilight (as in the first book, not the series), it's hard to think that you could have that only for her to end up with Jake. Jake was thrown in as an afterthought in that book (seriously. I can find the page where Stephenie Meyer herself says that if anyone wants me to). The book was about Edward and Bella. If she ended up with Jake, it'd also be pretty awkward (not as in they would be awkward, the story itself would just be awkward).
Yeah, that is how things go in real life sometime (all you see is one person, then they poof away with no good closure and you end up with someone else), but real life doesn't always translate well into a novel.

So there's my little tangent about how the books couldn't have really ended any other way than they did.
I've probably thought about that too much, but it's true. Any other ending that was drastically different (I'm not talking about details here) simply would have just been wrong. Some because it just wouldn't have worked, others because Stephenie Meyer just wouldn't do that.

P.S. Totally off topic, I saw a little icon that had a picture of Edward and it said "He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake," and I lol'd hard.
