Oh, but seriously. Open any of the books to the table of contents. Then read the chapter titles followed by "in my pants." It's great. ESPECIALLY the first one. "The Cullens in my pants," "Carlisle in my pants..." xD |
Opinions On Twilight
Locally.... Along with almost all over the US in the minds of many young individuals is the book known as Twilight which was converted into a book not too long ago.... Twilight... Was beyond a phenomenon for most... It was a lifestyle for some.
I saw people buy countdown to twilight shirts every day until twilight came out... I saw people hovering over the computer buying anything related to twilight they could.... I heard continual talk in the hallway of how amazing Twilight was and how hot Edward Cullen was.... This was getting to the point where at any mention at the book Twilight i wanted to kick the next person i saw in the face. Not literally of course.... with words..... words in the form of a foot. I want opinions on twilight, and before i can get your opinion, i am sure you want my opinion. Here it is:(don't hate me) When i heard the general storyline of twilight i gagged a little inside. A vampire romance? You've got to be kidding me.... Gaia has been holding this crap ever since it was invented... A romance where it is taboo and there is another side that wants the woman that is entirely unimportant. To me, Twilight was simply an excuse for Necrophiliacs to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that now that there was a book to act as a sword for their opinions. Now... I don't want a flame response... Don't defend twilight with the intense-ness of 1000 suns (You quickly get me to stop caring about you), if you have an actual reason for why my opinion is terrible.... go ahead... I want to hear it... Just make sure its intelligent and has something to do with the topic... What is your opinion on the book Twilight? |
I actually agree with you. If I see another Twilight book or a squeeling Edward fanatic I think I'll turn my insides out. But we have to remember Twilight began like all books started out quiet. Thing is Harry Potter ended once Twilight began hyping up. Now I read it before the hype before the spazzed out preteens. Its a good quick read when you are REALLY bored. But believe me it is not the MOST FANTASTIC book of the century. I've read plenty of vampire books that are unknown and don't get the hype it deserves. To see this book get hype was just a saddening waste of time. And did you see that movie? ACK-I've never seen something so poorly directed, acted, and put together.
I also don't like Edward's character. He just seems such a poor excuse for a vampire. Now give me a good Anne Rice and De La Cruz I'll read that any day. But Twilight I'll take a step back and burn the copies I got or at least sell them on ebay. |

I have to tell you, most of the Twilight Thread Regulars would tell you that they think the book is absolutely ridiculous and horrible, but that they love it at the same time.

Romance is good and all... but i hate it when its the entire focus of the book... It better be a pretty good romance that has a lot of interesting twists and turns for me to really like it.... And even then i normally hate it..... But that is just me |

Am I the only one who found Stephen King's shockingly brief?
I mean, I thought for sure that there'd be about two pages of irrelevant backstory, a paragraph describing the precise sound that the gravel made when walked on, two paragraphs detailing his sullen, apathetic mood, tedious dialogue that explains why he doesn't like the book, and then another paragraph of internal rambling about it being bad. |
well... i was expecting it to be longer.... But it was probably a quick questionaire... i'm sure everyone is looking for opinions on twilight after it being a massive explosion...

I still have to say that even after lol'ing at Steven King's comments, Stephenie has already said that she's not really a writer and that she doesn't like to have people call her as such because she's just "telling stories". She writes fanfiction for her own stories, and got lucky enough to have them published all around the world. And now that publisher's know that her stuff will sell, there will be more stuff coming from her. In time, she might be able to call herself a writer as she gets better at it.

Hmmm.... The fact that she said she wasn't a writer isn't really good for her rep... and that might explain why twilight was such a simple story that was easy to get along with... Although... I was highly annoyed by the twilight fangirls buy 7 t-shirts and pictures of Edward Cullen... Creepy as hell...

Err... she has a master's in English (?) and she's written and published five novels. Sounds like a writer to me.

Host > Twilight. The last book felt like a giant fanfcition. In fact, I'm sure some fanfiction writiers out there could have done better. |

Of course some of us could have done better. We don't all write stories that consist of "and then ___ made out with ___ and it was like totally epic lolz and it was so good and we giggled cuz we're fangirls like omg" D: |
