I tend to like the villains more or suppoerting characters. For example, I would prefer Jackel over Ginji in GetBackers or Team Rocket over Ash and his friends in Pokemon. There are times where the hero captures my heart though, so I guess I can't make a straight decision.

Personally I usually like the evil hero, the person who does evil as hell things, but for a good cause.

It depends XD. I can love either if they are well thought out and have many dimensions to their personality. In other words, a hero that is not completely perfect and can be capable of doing things that are not exactly ethical... or a villain that is NOT completely evil for the sake of simply making life hard for the main character and/or the world. (I always thought it was weird how some villains are all like, "I'm going to destroy the world! So that then I can rule it! Or something like that! Ha ha ha!" It's much cooler when they have a more realistic purpose :D.)

for me it really depends on the series... but i usually like the hero is has some sort of dark past or something...
in general i like darker characters who fight for the good... XD |

I tend to fade toward the villian more sometimes. i guess it depends on the anime...like in Nurse Angel Ririka, i like the hero better because i have a slight affinity to ten year old female heroes. but in Sailor Moon, i like the villian better because the main hero was such a dumb ditz and annoyed me like crazy. so yeah. it depends on the anime for me.

Whoever's more likely to kill me. No, I'm serious! My favorite character in Berserk is the hero, Guts. My favorite character in Saiyuki is a tie between Ni, the evilest evil person to ever have human blood in his veins in an anime or manga ever made, and Sanzo, the chain-smoking, gun-toting high priest with a mouth like a sailor and an itchy trigger finger who somehow wound up being the hero. My favorite character in Metropolis is Rock. My favorite character in Neon Genesis Evangelion is Kowaru. See where I'm going with this?

I don't like seperating it into "heroes" and "villains". I like complex, well-done characters, who aren't "evil" or "good", but are human.

Well I prefer the villians- because usually once I find out the root of all their eveil (whether they were mistreated in the past or whatever the case may be) Its likes "oh so THATS why he bcame so evil" D:<
And then its like well the villian is just getting payback! D:< And of course it always seem to me like the villians have more fun- doing what they want when they want without caring about anything else xD So yea. Villians ftw x3 |
It depends on the individual characters, but generally speaking I like the hero, or the side characters.

*sobs* this is my weakpoint. I feel horribly guilty about this.
I look over my crushes, and i have to wince. Every single one on there either a)Is a villian b)Was a a villian at one point c)Becomes a villian at one point d)Everyone thinks they are a villian e)Is on the wrong side of the law f)Is possessed by a villian So. Yeah. Villians. soemhow, they're just hotter. I don't..know why. The heroes are cute and all, but the villians are just..too much... Even in sailormoon, the male villians are still hotter than anyone on the good side, except, for MAYBE Darien. MAYBE. Depends... Oh yeah, and in Yugioh GX? I looked over a section in Shounen Jump and found the one that drew the most of my attention and asked a friend about him.... He goes. "Oh yeah, that's Chad. He's a jerk." My response? -_-;;; Figures. It happens all the time, And I feel incredibly guilty about it. I don't know why though. |
I generally like the heroes better, but sometimes I like the more villainish characters too. The best, though, is the antagonistic hero; the character who acts like a villain but is really on the good guys' side.

I vastly prefer the anit-hero.
Good enough to make me squee when he/she comes to the rescue, but bad enough to dress good and ramp up the sex appeal. Think Alucard from Hellsing. |
I enjoy characters that are stuck in between. No, not the regular people that just get caught in the middle.
I'm taking about the good guy who is on the right side, but he's done so many things for his own ends that lean more towards evil. I'm also talking about the bad guys who become evil for understandable reasons. It just seems that having a 100% on either end leaves me in disbelief, but I do like characters that, despite all flaws, are leaned to one side without that. However, I just like my characters that stick to one side, but...generally fall under the "too evil to actually be good, too good to actually be evil" category. XD |
@ Mushy Kylo Hendricks - I agree with you about the character that is "stuck in the middle".
I think a good example would be of InuYasha. For the most part, he the good guy, but every once-in-a-while, he looses his sword (literally) and becomes full-fledged evil demon. Not to mention he is super cute with those little doggy ears. |
It's not that I like the villain more, it's just that every guy character I like ends up being evil or crazy some point in the the story. And I've seen a lot of anime. It's happened so many times that my friend thinks I should work with the police. If I think a guy's cute, they need to lock him up because he's gonna do something wrong eventually xD
