I don't know that you can delete your account there. Just like here, you could give your stuff away but it would still be here in case you ever wanted to come back. You might want to send a message to one of the mods over there to be sure. I think Osiris Lee (I might not have spelled that correctly) is one and Juanalene.

I haven't been able to read back on everything I missed. I hope everyone is doing okay. I should be around a bit more starting now. We'll be moving, yes indeedy, but very slowly. We're going to get the bathrooms up and going tomorrow night, and the living room this weekend. We'll get the kitchen as well if the new flooring is down by Friday like we've been told. The rest has to wait 'till next Friday. Turns out we're not getting new carpeting, but instead it's getting one of those uber professional cleanings. They can't get anyone in before then. xD; Either way, I'll be around more. I just wanted to say hi and let everyone know I'm not dead. I've noticed some new faces here too. Can't wait to get to know everyone better. |
Roocee - I totally hear ya! I don't even remember my Zan password! I joined a few of the other sites too, but don't think I've even ever posted on them.
Fawn - It's good to see you here! My interest sways up and down too, but usually just with Gaia. I'll be Gaia-Gaia-Gaia for a bit and then avoid it like the plague for a bit before I'm Gaia-Gaia-Gaia again. Chi - Great to hear you're doing well too! I'm really only there for RPing in a private guild with like 5 or 6 others and helping a friend judge a contest.

My RP guild idea went to hell after my friend and myself took a long break. It understandably upset the others, then everything escalated onto a personal level, and bleh. I'm glad it's over with now.
My friend and I are thinking of just privately opening up a web forum itself and RPing there since we had so many characters. It depends if I quit work and actually have the time. I think we'll make it work. We've both got full plates this semester, but our schedules are somewhat the same. Last year they weren't, not even a bit. xD |
I've been on Gaia just for the Knuffels lately. I have my 2, my free one, got Jason a free one, and bought apricotty one. And they just released 2 new animated ones, and I'm debating whether or not to get the pink one, which I really like!

Took Lauren to storytime at the library yesterday and they read Princess and the Pea. And well, I've heard that story hundreds of times growing up, but hearing it yesterday made me really think about how crappy it really is. I mean, you have the prince looking for a REAL princess and so the queen places the pea under all those mattresses and then the princess comes and sleeps on it and the next morning when the queen asks how she slept, she makes this big ol' fuss about how awful she slept, how she tossed and turned and felt black and blue. And they were so happy she was a REAL princess since she had felt it and they got married right away. OK, first of all, a REAL princess would have responded much more graciously, I would have thought, "Thank you for asking. I slept just fine." Aren't princesses taught manners early on? How rude it is to complain to your host how badly you slept! I remember having company and I was made to go BUY a new pillow because he didn't like the one we had already. :? I've slept on some pretty uncomfortable beds, but I never let my hosts know that! Too, I would think that the last thing a prince would want is someone who is whiny and naggy and complains a lot. I'd think he'd want someone a lot more refined, you know? Guess I just overthink things sometimes! But it's funny hearing stories you grew up with - if you really sit down and pick them apart, they're ludicrous! It's just like in Little Mermaid, Triton apologized at the end, but where was Ariel's apology? Sure she said, "Daddy, I'm sorry! I didn't know!" but you know that was just her "oh crap" moment when her dad was taking the fall for her. She should have owned up to her mistakes too...REALLY owned up since it wasn't all Triton's fault! lol...ok...going now. :lol: You can tell I'm starved for live adult conversation! |

Kids books and stories, especially the older ones, are so full of stereotypes and propaganda and just horrible stuff when you really think about it - but a lot of kids (and parents) never even pick up on the stuff - it's just a cute story and a small diversion from life.
I know a lot of the fables and stuff were never actually meant for kids - they were warnings and morals in story form and we adapted them to be more kid friendly (I call it the Disney-fication of stuff) - like the version of the Little Mermaid - I remember something about the prince married someone else and the mermaid had to kill his new wife and she could replace her- but when she was on the boat and ready to do it she couldn't - and her punishment for not doing it was to turn into sea foam. Anyway - it should be interesting if I ever actually get a job in a library and have to do story time - I wonder what kind of books I'll end up choosing. :) I remember seeing a really neat book about a hayfield and how it filled the circle of life on a farm - the hay grows - it cut and left in stacks where over the winter it houses mice and small animals- and then it feeds the cows and other livestock - who create fertilizer to spread on the field to grow more hay. Anyway - I'm getting long winded :lol: |
