Morning Rue! I'm really tired as well. I don't think this being able to sleep in an extra hour is helping me at all! I think it's actually throwing me off!

I did go in for my ears yesterday and do have infections and a LOT of fluid in my ears, so I'm on antibiotics now. I can feel the pressure in my ears today, and yesterday the pain and pressure was persistent enough to make me finally decide to go in after almost 4 weeks!

siaasgn 11-06-2007 03:26 PM

Ugg. . ear infections are not fun - hope that clears up for you soon!

I went to vote this morning and then took my boyfriend to his polling place (when he moved for some reason his voter registration was not updated - he needs to fix that!) and it took him over 45 minutes to vote!

Since we were already late for work (he got done at 8 when we were supposed to be at work at 8) so we decided to stop by the High Point Cafe to get coffee and scones - I managed to spill my coffee while driving into work and got it on the bottom of my pants and all over the cup holder and car floor . . . got to work around 9:15 when I was supposed to be in at 8. The lights are still not working right here - it was on emergency lighting only so we had to push the button that turns on generators and powers everything - should be interesting to see how long it takes for facilities to fix this.

*edited to add . . .Congrats Melody on being the last minute pick!! You do look lovely and deserve it :)

How is everyone doing today?

roocee 11-06-2007 04:37 PM

Well, I tried to vote but since I have changed my address, I'm not registered at either my old place to vote or my new place so I couldn't. Oh well, I guess there is always next year.

fawN 11-06-2007 04:57 PM

Is today voting day nationwide? I asked my dad on Sunday when we vote, and he wasn't sure, thinking it was different in the primaries for different states.

siaasgn 11-06-2007 06:38 PM

I'm pretty sure the first Tuesday in November is election day nation wide . . .

roocee 11-06-2007 07:22 PM

I think so too Si. I believe that only the primaries are different in each state.

fawN 11-06-2007 07:54 PM

I asked hubby and he says no one is asking off to go vote at his work, and he thinks it's different in different states too for the primaries. I'm checking websites and it's saying not until the first tuesday in JUNE in even numbered years for primary here. Holy kau, I have to wait til JUNE while some of you are voting for primaries today? Yeesh.

dessertdesiert 11-06-2007 08:09 PM

Oh no - it's not primaries - this is regular elections.

I know in Philadelphia we're voting for Mayor and judges and city council and stuff like that.

Ohhh ok good! I'm looking forward to voting in the primaries, and of course the pres election, but don't really care if I miss the other stuff.

dessertdesiert 11-06-2007 08:55 PM

Siaasgn your from philadelphia? I live like an hour and a half away from philadelphia.

siaasgn 11-06-2007 08:57 PM

Yup - I'm from Philly - where are you from, I may know the area.

I grew up in Bensalem but been living in Philly for about 5 years now.

dessertdesiert 11-06-2007 09:05 PM

Bethlehem..

siaasgn 11-06-2007 09:27 PM

Ok - I've heard of that area - never really spent much time there - but that's pretty cool!

magikjaz 11-06-2007 10:54 PM

fawN - primaries don't start until January or February next year.

Right now there's a big stink cuz Michigan wants to move their primary from April to January to be in the 1st places with Iowa and New Hampshire. Of course since I live here I'm all for it. We have a ton of electoral votes and why shouldn't we be more instrumental in helping to determine the candidates. But apparently Iowa and NH aren't happy and have put pressure on some candidates to not even appear on the ballot here in Jan. So yea, huge stink here.

Today was a couple local elections and a millage increase vote for a county community college. nothing exciting.

roocee 11-06-2007 11:26 PM

Elections here are the same as for Si, the Mayor, row offices, Judges, city council, etc.

dessertdesiert 11-07-2007 12:05 AM

You know it's kinda sad that only about the elgible voting population actaully votes.. especially when you compare it to other countries >.>

roocee 11-07-2007 12:17 AM

I agree but people feel that since we have electorial votes, their's doesn't matter anyway.

dessertdesiert 11-07-2007 12:22 AM

Yea, but it does matter, because so many complain Oh the president sucks, oh they should impeach him.. blah blah blah.. etc.....

It drives me crazy...
