GigglyBipper 05-20-2007 09:36 PM

And now for something completely different!

Here is a link to a video by a band called "Banned From Earth" or if you want to shorten it "BFE". They are a Black Sabbath tribute.

The guitar player is my husband :D

Aliena 05-21-2007 02:01 AM

Bipper - very cool!

jurupamae - Really? I was wondering how it would compare to the other two. I still want to see it though!

Jaz - absolutely! Though I'm afraid I might be a bit boring in RL. lol

roocee 05-21-2007 01:21 PM

Morning everyone

Aliena 05-21-2007 01:45 PM

Hey Purkles!

How is everyone this morning? Well today begins my cruddy two week stint of cleaning and getting the house prepared. I went to Home Depot yesterday and got some new paint to touch up some areas, so I might try to get some of that done today. I'm about to go out and resume my weed pulling a little bit before the baby wakes up. Guess I'll just turn on some dance music today and show her that cleaning's fun, right?

My husband asked me to bake him two pies to take to his school tomorrow too. And I do my pies all from scratch. And then Heroes is on tonight. So busy day! :)

What are you guys up to today?

Dare 05-21-2007 01:51 PM

Oooh, I'm getting my bedroom painted on Saturday :D

I got to pick the colour yesterday. It's gone from green to blue and is now going on overhaul at a brown colour @[email protected]

siaasgn 05-21-2007 02:18 PM

Morning all - looks like it has been an exciting weekend!

Aliena - Congrats on your hubbies new job - good luck with the move!

My boyfriend left Philly a week ago yesterday to ride his bicycle to Rochester, NY - he called last night and he crossed into NY - he thinks he will be in Rochester in 2 or 3 days. Yesterday they rode 75 miles and have over a mile of climbing! I can't wait until this weekend when I get to see him - I'm driving to Rochester to meet up with him and our friends who live there and will be driving us all home.

I have a lot of school work to get done - we only have 2 weeks left in the term and I have research for a group project to submit by Wednesday - I haven't really done any! :?

Aliena 05-21-2007 02:35 PM

That's cool, Dare! Are you going to be doing the painting yourself or is someone else going to do it? I don't mind painting so much. I mean, it can get tiring after a bit, but I remember coming to this house before we moved in, turning on the radio loud, and just enjoying myself.

Sia - Wow! Your boyfriend's a cyclist then? I can't imagine going that far, though I know there are lots of people who really like to do that. My husband likes to cycle too. I think his longest ride has only been about 60 miles, though. I hope their weather will be nice!

Dare 05-21-2007 02:54 PM

I'm going to be helping my Grandparents, yes :D

They offered to do it for me so I thought it was only fair to help out as well. I've helped them wallpaper my room before, but we've opted just to paint over it.

siaasgn 05-21-2007 03:32 PM

I would love to be able to redecorate my room - but I just can't afford it right now - hope it turns out nice!!

Yup - my boyfriend is a cyclist - this is almost like a test ride for next summer when he plan on cycling across the US from California back to Pennsylvania.

Personally - I can't ride more than 50 miles without breaking down into tears about how much my butt hurts - and forget hills - I can't climb. I envy him and his dedication to training sometimes.

roocee 05-21-2007 05:41 PM

Wow Si, I must say I admire him for that. I'm like you, after a short time my butt is so sore I just can't continue. I rode 12 miles at Presque Isle in Erie PA a couple summers ago around the lake and my butt was completely numb and my fingers tingled for days after like the circulation wouldn't come back. It was a beautiful ride though.

Aliena 05-21-2007 07:22 PM

Dare - that's so cool! How nice of them to do that for you and I think it'll be fun with you helping out. Wallpapering though...ugh...that's the bane of my existence! The most I will deal with wallpaper now is with the pretty little borders that you can either put at the top of the wall or along the chair rail in the middle. And stripping the stuff in order to paint is a nightmare! My kitchen is really large and when we moved in, it had this really ugly dark red wallpaper with fruit on it. That stuff had to go! Man oh man, it was a pain removing it all!

Sia - Wow, that's going to be an incredible ride for him! I wonder how long it'll take him, but what a neat experience that will be for him, especially seeing how the country changes as he crosses it.

I'm no cyclist. My husband wishes I were, but I get saddle-sore too easily!

Mama Juru 05-21-2007 08:21 PM

Afternoon all!

If I ride a bike it has to have a nice comfy large seat for my large behind to sit on. No banana seat for me.

I think if I tried to ride 25 miles I would pass out around mile 1. LOL!

I honestly have never even attempted to wallpaper something. I have the luck of people in the movies and cartoons that get wrapped up in the stuff, although I've often wondered if I could wallpaper my children to the wall.
Hmmm.... LOL

roocee 05-21-2007 10:54 PM

I've never experienced wallpapering either. I can see me being glued to the wall.

 that's my opinion too! Seems like far too much trouble for my tastes, i'll stick with paint. That's enough of a pain, when i lived with my ex we re-did our living room, a 10ft x 16ft space, i swore of painting forever after doing that, but it did take a lot of doing because when we got the paper off, we found the most god awful stippled effect underneath in with and blue, needed 3 coats to cover that
I'd just finished a section of wall by the back door, and the dog went and laid against it  He nearly jumped out of his skin at my shriek of 'get off there you stupid animal'..silly bugger ended up with green all down his back, then sulked for the rest of the day because i put him in the bath to wash it off

Si i'd forgotten that it was this week that your boyfriend was doing his bike ride, it's a fantastic thing for him to do! Is it for charity or just a club thing?
There's a cyclists 'Gran Prix' that they do on Lincoln every year, we watched them one year and i'm sure they're all completely crackers. Lincoln is built on a hill, and the route takes them up and down this hill 10 times! The road is cobbled too..

that shot does the incline no justice believe me, and it gets steeper nearer the top! i have to stop and pant for a bit half way up, i cannot comprehend how people do it on a bike..

Found a shot of last year's race, this shows the slope a bit more
Just look at the line of the horizontal bricks in that wall next to the path..

Excellent Rue! What was the problem?

roocee 05-22-2007 01:28 PM

I'm not exactly sure what the problem was. I deleted the program and downloaded it again and it seemed to work. No idea.

amersemt 05-22-2007 03:06 PM
