Scott Westerfeld
This author is amazing!!
He has wrote like 3 or 4 different series. I've read 3. They are great. Have you read his books, if so which ones and did you like them? |
I, myself, have finished his Uglies trilogy, book 1 of the Peeps series, the Midnighters trilogy, and So Yesterday.
His books are interesting and takes at things that could(however unlikely) happen and have a realistic touch to them no matter how far-from-real the concept of his books are. |
I think they are wonderful. I haven't read the last book of the Midnighters, the libraries I have access to don't have them.
I really feel like in the end he hit the Uglies trilogy on the dot. Thats probably how everything is going to end up if we don't destroy ourselves first. Its where society is already heading. |
You only read his books because of me ><
And he's a good author from what I've read. But I haven't quite finished Uglies xD |
Oh shush Darrell. I get all the good books from you, I know. xD
|
I love his Uglies trilogy, I just finished Specials a few days ago actually!!! I finally managed to get the book from the library, I've been having it on hold since last year and I never got it. Someone else actually still had it on hold the moment I got it, but he/she seemed to have left the book on a library table by accident... but of course once I found it I had to check it out, and the librarian let me, anyway. *_*
That series was really cool... I thought it nicely addressed some social issues and I also liked the environmental concern throughout it. >D *treehugger* And so I especially liked the Specials' ending. Perfect. Wait... okay, my bad; is Peeps the story about semi-vampires? And it's a series?? Enlighten me, plz. XD I read it a while ago and I thought it was a solo. And I think Mr. Westerfield also wrote another book I tried reading, but unfortunately I couldn't... it was one to do with trend-setters, and me being really uninterested in popular fashion couldn't even get through a couple of chaps. *sigh* |

There is a second book in the 'series'. Its set with different people but its there. I don't think I read the ones about the trend setters. They looked to short for me xD |
*revives topic* lol.
Coincidentally I found the Midnighters trilogy at the library, all 3 in the checkshelves, I wasn't even searching for 'em. XD So I checked them all out. Just finished the 1st one. His way of doing romances is pretty interesting, don't you think? There's not a lot of emphasis on emotions or physical appearance. What I keep getting from his descriptions is a sense of security and mutual understanding. It's pretty nice, makes the romances seem less that's-too-perfect-it'll-never-happen-in-rl. |

@ Wisty: Thats one of the things I like about him. They seem more non fiction in that sort of sense. |
Uglies. No question about that. The Uglies series is wonderful. I didn't really expect to like it, but it's really amazing, especially since, when it comes down to it, it kind of forces you to make your own opinions on if the "Pretties" system was good or bad.
|
I love his books. I read Peeps. Now, I'm finishing up Specials. Pretties was my favorite out of the ugly trilogy.

Don't remember why I read the Uglies series, but I did..
The first book was okay. It started to get boring from the second book though. And the whole bubbly-making thing's kinda strange. xD |
It took me awhile to get what bubbly was. And I still haven't completely gotten it yet.
|
Yeah.
I liked the technology in it though. Hehe. |
Oh jeez, the Uglies trilogy. <333 My current English teacher makes us choose a book for every school quarter so we can do a report on it, I had chosen Uglies. Well, I couldn't put the dang book down and I ended up asking her if I could do the whole trilogy.
My class thought I was crazy for doing three books. o.o (Which really isn't hard buuut... Whatev.) I absolutely adored that series, and I want to read Peeps and the Midnighters, but I have such a huge reading list right now. Maybe summer. ;o When I had finished reading Specials though I was in such a euphoric state. x]] <3 I was also happy to find out about Extras. I almost started making my user name on most forums either Jes-la or Kass-la (my real name sorta ¦D). *geek* |
Drool.
I love Scott-la. I've read all of his YA books except Blue Noon. Extras was freaking incredible. I didn't really want to start the Uglies books [my first ones by him] but they were the only decent-looking book our bookstore had that I hadn't read. [I read a lot.] I read his blog obsessively as well. I love the way he does romance. Like how Tally doesn't get over Zane for years, but they never went too far, and how she returns to David. It was perfect. |
I have read the Uglies trilogy, Extras, Peeps, The Last Days, and So Yesterday. I love them all. I wish I didn't have such a busy life so that I could read his other books =(
|
I love the Scott Westerfield! I am a huge fan of the Uglies Trilogy. I do not, however, like Extras. It is the only book I can actually say I did not like by Scott. I have yet to read the Midnighter's Series but my step sister adores them.
|
The only Scott Westerfield series I've read is his Uglies series.
Uglies was enthralling, in my opinion. The futuristic world he created, even the language he uses is fantastic. I just finished reading Extras a few days ago, and though it wasn't as good as the others, I still liked how he ended the series. |
Uglies Trilogy
Anyone read it?
If so, how did you like it? I read all of the books, and I personally loved them. [: I hope it's okay if I post this, but here's a link in case you aren't sure what I'm talking about. [; http://www.scottwesterfeld.com/books/uglies.htm |
I haven't but it looks alright. I am starting on a new Trilogy, it is new. :) Eyes like stars is what it is called. IT. IS. AMAZING. Completely blown away by it. :) Read it, find out about it, and love it! Because I totally did. ><
|
Maybe I'll read it then! :'D
I'm going to the library in a couple of days. :3 Anyone like Harry Potter? |
WEll I have read all three of them and I really liked them. I was kinda sad in the end but I was really glad with Tally's choice to stay herself. I really thought that the uglies trilogy was well written and it was refreshing amongst all of the stupid vampire novels that have been popping up all over the place.
WHich of the three did you like the best? I haven't read them for about a year now so I don't remember them too well but I know that I loved Specials. |
