My first anime was Death Note. I found it through a few fan comics on DeviantArt. After I saw it I read the manga, so Death note was my first manga as well.

I barely remember the first time I watched anime.
It was Dragon Ball (first season), Sailor Moon (first season too), Saint Seiya, and probably one or two more I forgot now...
That's a long time ago... They were different from what we have today. The colors were not so bright, the design was somewhat more simple...

Lets see if I can remember this correctly:

Sailor Moon was the first anime ever. Then came Tenchi, Pokemon, DragonBall Z, Digimon, CardCaptor Sakura, My Neighbor Totoro, Blue Seed and many more after that.

teacupmouse 12-18-2008 02:21 PM

I *think* my first anime was Vampire Hunter D...I do love love love Totoro

Lady Aida 12-19-2008 06:09 PM

The first anime movie that introduced me anime altogether was "Vampire Hunter D." As for my first True anime series that I knew was anime was Sailor Moon and my second series was "Ronin Warriors"

But, before I understood what anime was I watched "ThunderCats" I'm not sure if it counts as an anime?:)

jecynecy 12-19-2008 06:14 PM

First was Sailor Moon, my cousin got me hooked on it.Second was Dragonball Z. My favorite right now though is Inuyasha.

Galliechan 12-21-2008 10:40 PM

Mine was Pokemon, but I didn't know about something called anime yet. The first one I watch knowing 'yes, this is an anime' was Sailor Moon. Still love them both.

The first manga I read was Marmalade Boy.
That changed my life. lol
And then I read Mars and that was a little mature for the age I was. My mom was very concerned when she saw what was in it and told me she didnt want me to read manga anymore. haha hmm. Well I was at a "rebellious" stage and so I just hide all the manga I read and bought. Now I have too many to hide (over 70) and I'm in college so it doesnt matter.

Oh back in the day hahaha... Almost wish now that my friend never showed me that manga, but then I wouldnt be doing art...

My first animes were DBZ and Sailor moon lol. I would have stayed with DBZ, but the story got so old and redundant. And sailor moon well lets face it, it went on and got kinda old as well lol. I've moved on to better things lol.

Farthingale 01-02-2009 01:06 PM

Ummmm... *taxes memory most heavily* Geez... I think, probably, Martian Sucessor Nadesico. Most likely. ;)

Koari 01-02-2009 07:08 PM

Hmm...I'm not actually sure...
But Kamichama Karin ? : D
No cluee.

salvete 01-03-2009 03:17 AM

The first manga I ever read was something from Shonen Jump's magazine...Shaman King, perhaps?

Zombie Zombie 01-03-2009 06:12 AM

Pokemon was my first anime, I suppose.
But Inuyasha was my first manga.

I hate Inuyasha now. XD
I have the first 3 mangas...I really want to sell them. xD

Ursus.Veritas 01-09-2009 08:44 PM

My firsts were Pokemon, then Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho.

They're all still my complete favorites.

LalaAbc123 01-11-2009 12:40 AM

I think the first anime that I was introduced to was either Pokemon, DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, or One Piece.

mano 01-11-2009 07:18 AM

i would be forced to say pokemon... but my first real taste of anime was when i couldnt sleep and trigun came on. His overwhelmingly positive attitude towards people only surpassed by his love of donuts took me over. From then on i was an anime freak =)

shadow22cat 01-12-2009 06:53 AM

I was introduced to 3 at first. InuYasha, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop. Very interesting shows.

xx TRIAL and ERROR xx 01-14-2009 08:55 PM

Ahahahhahaa.

I TOTALLY began with Pokemon. :3 And then it was later followed up by Digimon, which completely overtook Pokemon haha. Fox Kids debuted Mon Colle Knights and that would be my third. My first REAL exposure, though, was Full Moon wo Sagashite, with subs and all. :33

I later then exposed myself to Fruits Basket (watched the whole thing in one weekend, haha!), Ouran High, Lovely Complex, Special A, VAMPIRE KNIGHT! Oh how I love Vampire Knight...

Now I just watch all sorts of things. :3

I think I used to watch Gundam Wing at some time. o__O

However, if we were to talk about manga, my first manga ever was Skip Beat, which my best friend bought for me at the middle school book fair, haha! After that, a friend bought and let me read Hana Kimi, which I instantly fell in love with and has since been my favorite manga ever. I also began reading MuruPuri (finished it all in one night), Full Moon wo Sagashite, Lovely Complex, Special A, Vampire Knight, Ouran Host Club, Fruits Basket (notice any sort of trend here? ;] Haha!)

I'm a sucker for all things fluffy and shojo. ^^

Pixie88 01-18-2009 08:35 PM

My first anime was Dragonball Z, my first manga was Chobits

EbonySquirrel 01-20-2009 03:10 AM

My first anime was Dragon Ball Z LONG before I knew what it was, how badly it was being edited, and how badly the dubbing was butchering the original dialogue. (I now think of myself as much more educated. XD) The first anime tape I ever bought myself was the first Ghost in the Shell movie.

Manga was introduced to me via my best friend from middle school who noticed I liked comics and let me borrow her copies of Mixxzine, which had the first American publications of Sailor Moon, Ice Blade, Harlem Beat (love that one!) and Magic Knight Rayearth. I saw Ferio and fell in love, and from then on, I was a manga fan. (And a huge fan of CLAMP!)

Princess~Pineapple 01-25-2009 08:40 AM

Ramna 1/2. I still love it dearly <33 It's so freaking hilarious!

laustic 01-25-2009 08:42 AM

I can't recall which was the first anime that I watched but I do know that Cowboy Bebop was the first manga that I ever read.

Sadistix_Love 01-26-2009 03:55 AM

I forgot if I replied to this but Sailor Moon. //nods// I only considered it cartoon. Same with Pokemon. It didn't even go to my head they were Japanese. It was when Inuyasha came along five years ago that I knew. So now I'm a hardcore manga/anime fan. :3

Rumpus Ruu 01-27-2009 04:38 PM

My first anime ever was Sailor Moon and then Pokemon. My first manga I ever owned was Tenchi Muyo and the second was Clover.

X-xBeautifully Brokenx-X 01-29-2009 11:25 PM
