Some athletes who take on being career athletes end up being trainers or something.

Though yeah... It does make one cringe and go X_x; What the... When they're past their prime already and stuff. What happens? Will people remember them or something?

Still. I'm for some more state support to go with that big pressure for the gold.

I have seen some athletes here who do it for a hobby but have established careers and went for the Olympics. So age isn't much of a factor after all?

I know! I felt so bad when I saw former gold Olympist overweight and working as mailwoman! I mean, its not a bad occupation or anything, but its like, gold medal--- then the rest of your life in a boring job. Though, the majority of athletes who compete don't get medals...

I don't think age counts at all. XD 41 years old swimmer, Dara Torres! Aweeeesome.

...Really now, when you're at the top---you're like WHOA. But when it's over, you just fade into the background. So sad. Shouldn't they be like...honored or something? D:

It's pretty easy to use a tablet, dear. It's a matter of 'Can I get used to this?'.

Don't compare your trade and CG art ever. It'll be worlds apart but still reflect you. Or something like that. XD'

It's also normal to be a wee bit frustrated at first but remember: practice.

i became 21 years older apparently 8DD middle age, here i am! XD

yeah ;_; except probably family and close friends. i agree, for someone like phelps, who broke a record, he'll be remembered until next time its broken, but it'll be hard to suddenly go from training nonstop to getting settled. And don't a lot of athletes devote not much time to college? o.o

I'm hoping my hand will be steady when linearting. XD When i use just plain marker/pen for trad art my hand always shakes unless i move it fast, and it ends up elsewhere >O i'm sad that before i have a chance to practice i'll have to work super hard in school! XD junior year baaaah.

Depends on their schedule and style though.

Some still have time for school and don't just train all their lives though. I think some of the Australian swimmers are on special scholarship or something? They also go to school other than train on certain days of the week. ^^;

China has already stopped the whole 'quantity' based training which is like... train as long as possible and are going for 'quality' meaning, they train not as much but only train certain parts and stresses so they can have better performance.

...When I line art with mah tablet, I take a lot of time really. Since I'm used to sketchy style of pencil art, when it gets translated to the computer---it's a messy bunch of lines and what not. You have to clean it up... Dx'

No pressure. Take your time. Do so when you can. It's your tablet. Not like you're renting it out or borrowing for a week and have to return it after all. XD

Junior year...

It was so hard.

Senior year... Felt so fast. X_x;

Ahh yeah, I guess it'd work for some. I think block schedule would be best... Some small countries might not be able to afford scholarships for their athletes though.

Is "quantity" like what they did with the female gymnasts? Because I heard they were taken from families at early age and just trained.

Ahh, I try to make my pencil final lines as dark as possible and clean up ultra messy lines. I've tried a couple times linearting with mouse, but so hard for curved parts! XD;;

Senioritis?! 8D Yuuuh and I still need to sign up for SATs bleh :<

They really have a hard time training because they don't even have equipment---heck they don't even have a gym! The trainers have to make the most of the province and their natural sceneries to do just that. But I think one of their trainers made it to a medal? I forgot. But she is pretty worried though. She's making the most of it and really striving to help, but what happens when she's gone? DX

...It's a matter of priority other than being also able to afford. Here, a lot of our budget is devoted to infrastructure and roads as well as debt servicing. As a result, health and education get yearly cuts pretty much all the time. We're used to it though.

But it's funny when my uni -state sponsored- starts to protest as it always does against the government and stuff---then we get a budget cut subsequently. I find it suspicious. XD'

Actually a lot of the Chinese athletes started their training as children. Even for most professions like theater and being a soldier I believe? They started as children. But I'm not quite sure about the whole 'taken away from their families' since they spend a lot of their time doing so, they probably don't have time to go back I suppose.

Wow, awesome trainer O: Sometimes, if the athlete themself can raise the fund, they train in another country. I think quite a few athletes trained in US.

Oh, I see. I should probably have known more, seeing as I'm chinese also. XDD;;

Nah. I don't really---I mean it's okay Sane. XD; Even if we say live in country A and are it's citizens, doesn't mean we always know everything. -pats you- <3

I think that's also feasible. Going elsewhere and stuff. I think that's the reason why China is now going for the quality type as well since they want to learn from the Australians how in the world they manage to come up with such amazing swimmers.

Merging traditional persistence with technological advancements to be able to maximize their budding young athletes. It's amazing.

The Australians... What they did in their swimming center, they monitor your swimming. As in video tape in many angles and then study it post your activity so they can really see what you do and how you're really doing. You know how swimming is... It's about angle, speed and strength to propel through water.

how do you like the event so far? O: i think i liked previous ones better, since you're guaranteed something, and you know what you're getting. i get lots of candy corn when i just want the apples. i think i'll just collect the rare set right now~

I like how there is a different layout for the event forum, though it's a bit inconvenient not being able to see your candy corn and apples in the regular forums. I keep getting tricked when I go trick-or-treating D: Oh well. The new skins are awesome too! I hope we get to keep them after the event ;o

gahh thats the one thing i don't like XD its so hard for me to read white/color on black, and hurts my eyes.

mmm i think its less now than in the beginning o_o i remember i got lots of "big bags of nothing" the first day and not as many now...

oh lol i thought they were items XD i was wondering how people got it, and why it wasn't in event shop /shot
