I like to watch anime in Japanese, with English subtitles. The English voices are either badly matched or just annoying.

I've never been able to watch Gundam Wing in Japanese, because I liked Wufei's English voice so much and I could never watch anything with Ryuusei Nakao in English, because I love his voice so, so much.

I prefer to watch it in Japanese XD It helps me keep the reading part of my brain happy, and I find the voices more pleasant. o.o

I'm semi-purist (i.e., I prefer watching japanese sub but am not anal about it). As much as I possibly can, I prefer watching subs than any language dub mainly because I also seiyuu-watch (or hear XD).

It is an AMAZING show, and I was so excited to hear what it was going to sound like in English...and then when I heard it on the Sci-fi channel, I was just...devastated. The English voices are so...lame. They all sound so fake, and the emotions...suck. It's like they're just reading a script...

It makes me hate the english version, because the japanese show is...awesome.

I prefer to watch most Anime in Japanese, but with English subtitles. I've watched Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, Hellsing, Trinity Blood, and xxxHolic in just Japanese. I've watched some Inuyasha in English. And I watched Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin in Japanese and in English.

If I like a series, I almost always watch it in Japaneses with subtitles, very few I'll stand to liten to in english. the voice actors in the origional language always are more sincere and act the part much better, they're also cast better to the character I think. English just makes me sick, the characters sound so much better in Japanese (or origional language) I would never have watched Naruto at all if I watched the English version, never would have gotten past the first 5 minutes, but with japanese I read online and wait for the new episodes to come out.

I really loved the Colorful, Crayon Shin-Chan and Lupin III dubs, but that's because they really ramped up the vulgarity and I find that much more hilarious than anything serious. On the other hand, I cannot watch Evangelion or Tenchi Muyo dubbed because the voice acting is pretty bad. In general, the more recently something was dubbed, the more tolerable it is.

The exceptions to that are feature length movies. Spirited Away comes to mind, mostly because there was a dialogue change at the end of the movie that pretty much changes the ending. XD;

Interestingly, there are some shows where I love both the original Japanese and the English dub - Sailor Moon, namely, because the dub is so amazingly awful.

I like watching it in Japanese with English subtitles. I can understand Japanese okay, but not that well. Heehee.

I generally prefer the English dubbing over the Japanese. Which is probably because, first of all I don't like missing half of what's going on because I'm reading dialogue and second because English dubbers have it so much harder than Japanese dubbers. Most people don't know this, but when they do the Japanese dub, most of the time they are just staring at a picture of their character on the wall while they say their lines. While they are doing this the animators are creating the marvelous work that we get to watch. So all the hard work in the Japanese dubbing is done by the animators and not the seiyuu. I will admit that shows like Tokyo Mew Mew and Card Captor Sakura I prefer to watch with subs. I also think that English dubbers give more personality to characters most of the time because, being english speakers most of us can generate all types of accents that could make the character all that much more alluring. A great example is Saiyuki, Illich Guardiola has a mixed accent of spanish, russian, and german (I think that's what it is... what ever, that isn't the point!) and he made a much better Gojyo than the original japanese seiyuu because of the fact that he used his accent to his advantage and made Gojyo sound exotic. Sorry, but no original Japanese seiyuu could manage that. So yes, I will stick to my dubs, thank you.

I usually change it to japanese with english subtitles, but for Hayao Miyazaki movies, and most newer animes like Haruhi Suzumiya, I actually prefer the english dub. The voices may seem unemotional to others, but the way they slightly americanize the jokes and tones in their voices are really starting to get better than they used to.

And then for Milk-chan, I can only watch the almost-completely-super-duper americanized version. Otherwise I can't bring myself to watch the original in either language.

I grew up watching Toonami, so I prefer some animes in English, like Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, and Detective Conan. I also had the Anime Network, so I like Saiyuki and Excel Saga in english, especially since they kept the OP and ED in japanese.

I like them all in English.n I'm an English epaking person and don't know any Japanese. Part of the pleasure of watching them is seeing hte pictures. I can't do this as well when I'm trying to watch subtitles go flying by. Whatever is better is mostly lost on me if I can't understand it. So I'm not a anime purist.

I tend to prefere the subbed versions, because sometimes it seems like the original Japanese voice actors just got the emotion down better. Chobits, for instance- I watched all of three minutes of the English version before I could just not take any more of that crap. It was terrible, like they hired people off the street to do it!

FullMetal Alchemist, I kind of like either way. I do prefer it subbed, but the dubbed voices are just fine for me. There's a couple voices in English that make me wince, but other than that, it's all good. And Fletcher is SO CUTE in Japanese! Squee! My friend and I watched it together a few years ago, and we still talk about how cute his voice was! :D

Azumanga Daioh, I actually like in English. Don't get me wrong, the Japanese cast is ADORABLE, but the English cast is just as good, and I think with Azumanga Daioh, it's just funnier if you don't have to follow along with subtitles. It's more amusing if you can just watch it.

I can't STAND the Japanese version of Rurouni Kenshin, and I actually think that's the only one I don't like the original voices for...

I generally don't prefer one way or another. Sometimes, I like watching the english dub because it allows me focus more on whats going on and less on the dialogue. I can only think of two that I prefer to watch one way or another. Dragon Ball Z is one of the few I prefer to watch in english. Tokyo Mew Mew is one of the few that I prefer to watch in japanese. There are a probably a few others, but this is just off the top of my head.

For me, i usually like my anime in English, so i can take in all aspects of the anime without having to think about. I am a bit of a slow reader, so i sometimes miss things when i watch the Japanese versions. Although for some anime, the original Japanese shows are better in a sense that the English versions change the original scripts to make the show more "child friendly", although, I think children today have seen a lot worse on television than what they can see in a few extra scenes on an anime show.
