I do both :) I usually find the out of print books I want online. I love our local bookstore, The Bookshelf, as its owners are friendly and extremely helpful. They know what types of books I like and they often suggest new authors for me to read. :D
|
I like both. Online is a good way to get smaller published books and books a million has some great deals so sometimes i save a lot more money than if i went to a bookstore.
|
I like ordering from the book store more so you can experience it better, and read it in the car. I remember a new Dvd came out and I went the second it shipped in and I got to pull mine out of the box :D
|
I prefer book stores because once i see a book i want i have to read it that day or else i will go crazy.

I mostly shop Half.com, which is an offset of Ebay, but Amazon.com also sells used books for dirt cheap. How dirt cheap, you ask? I've gotten hardcover books in pretty good condition (as in, no stains, no tears, and only a little cover wear) for less than $2.00, plus about another $2 for S&H. And paperback books go for even less--sometimes you can get them for only 50 cents. Now, granted, it all depends on which book you're looking for--popularity and availability and the condition of the book are factors. However, I find that overall, it's better this way. I'm certainly willing to wait for a book to come in the mail if it means I only have to pay $5 or so for it, when I would normally pay $7 or more for it in a bookstore. |
Bookstores.
but I hate it when they say, "that book isn't printed anymore but you can order it online." Really? I didn't know. I still like bookstores more though cause then I find hellof random books that I fall in love with. =] |
Considering the fact that my local Walden Books doesn't have as big of a Yaoi section as I would like, I have to order most of the books that I want online. I like to browse, but for those Yaoi books I mostly have to get them off of Amazon.com.
|
Yah, I order online all the time. The closest bookstore is miles away. And doesn't have yaoi. </3 And, if I ever go into a bookstore and see yaoi I freak out. xD So, to save the embarrassment, I use the net.
Like, I have another order coming soon. <3 But, I might try WHSmiths for Richard Hammond's and Jeremy Clarkson's biography thingers though. Maybe, i'll get James May's too. -Top Gear freak- |
i agree with most here, with the fact that going to the store is the preferred choice. for myself, it's much better to go, browse, look through the book that i'm wanting to buy, and the fact that i can have it instantly. whereas online, i would have to wait a specific amount of time for my book to actually arrive. so yes, i'd rather actually go to the bookstore.
|
I prefer to get it from the store because usually if I go for a particular book I'll also find at least one or more book(s) that I've been looking for.
|
I always just buy from the store, there are rare occasions where, If they don't have the book in stock that I will order it online.
|
I only do online if I qualify for free shipping! I actually used to live in a small town with only 2 very crappy bookstores, so I did alot of online ordering. They never had any of my new releases  However now I live just 15 min from a Borders and a Barnes and Noble, so I definitely do alot of book store shopping now! ^_^

Despite the fact that I don't have a credit card or a paypal, I'd still go to the bookstore.
I have some very good memories that come from bookstores, and I love being around so many books. Used bookstores are my favorites though. You can always find some old treasures that are out of print now. |
I like going to bookstores because I get to actually see the thing I'm buying, and I also get to look at its condition. Yes, I'm an obsessive compulsive freak who considers her books holy and refuses to bend the spine, dog ear the pages, etc., etc. I still read them. I just treat them veeeery nicely. And I like going to the bookstore, so that I can get the one in the best condition. Besides, when you think about it going through the mail, it could get dented, bent, etc. Yes, I know they wrap them, but it still happens.
I also just like the atmosphere of bookstores. They make me happy. Shopping online would rob me of that happiness. |
i like book stores because you may be looking for just one book and discovery a whole bunch more you like only if its an onld book or something and the only way to get it is online
