  • Urgh I hate to say this, but I'm a habitual nail biter. Whenever I'm nervous, stressed, or bored... The only way I stop is if I have nail polish on, but that trick is starting to not work anymore... Time to find another solution :D

>> I love my ability to have gorgeous natural long nails.
Never a bitter.
I did bite my inner lip though.
I don't know why. O_o''

Nervous habit maybe?

purplejesseh 05-01-2007 12:47 AM

  • I have the WORST nail biting habit ever. Dx

Dannigirl 05-01-2007 02:49 AM

Yesh.I do bite my nails. D:
It's a bad habit of mines.
I bite mines when Im nervous, Im bored,or even when Im angry I do it to try and keep myself from saying rude or disrepectful things.

I have tried to stop my bad habit, but I did for a few weeks but then they got too long and I couldnt stand it and couldnt find nail clippers.=/So I bit em.>_<

Deus 05-01-2007 03:02 AM

I don't ever bite my nails. How do people start this bad habit?

Tuba 05-01-2007 05:04 AM

i dont have to bite my nails, when they get too long they break off all by themselves. or, when they hit something too hard. saves me from haveing to bite them lol XD

Caderyn 05-01-2007 05:14 AM

I was a huge nail bitter when I was younger. I don't much anymore unless I'm very stressed out.

Jitsumi1221 05-01-2007 05:29 AM

*nods* been biting my nails since i was really young and cant seem to break the habit. though every so often i will stop long enough for them to grow nice and long so i can paint them for some special event.. but after that its back to biting. *shrugs* when I'm trying to conciously stop from biting i sit on my hands when i feel the urge. or keep a bottle of that nasty "no bite" crap on my desk and repaint another layer on every time i feel like biting. the nasty fresh scent of the stuff is really.. a good deterrent. pity it doesn't really stay nasty tasting if you wash your hands often.

King 06-02-2007 01:35 AM

Jit: I was like you. I had them grow out then bite them again. I am so glad I quit.

Cyndel 06-02-2007 01:45 AM

I've never bitten my nails. O.o
My dad did...
Most of my friends do.
Now they're jealous because my nails are really hard and long and they can't get theirs to grow out at all. XD; (Destiny constantly points that out. >.<)

Lol I bite my lip. >.>

Tea 06-02-2007 02:11 AM

Gahh This makes no sns to tea what so ever.

Why do people bite their nails!? When did this start? where on earth did people get this idea? All my life this has been reallt foreign for me. I didnt even really know about people biteing nail until middle school. I just dont comprehend how one can bite ones nail off. Isn't that really weird??

Even more weird is this skin eating thing. My mommy does it, and I don't get it. Canabalism much? Doctors say if you wilingly eat your own flesh you're probably crazy.

gahh I dunno it confuses poor tea.

I used to bite my nails, and I had done so for so long, I can't even remember when I started. Anyways, for years and years I bit my nails. I have no idea how it started either, but I would especially bite my nails when I had nothing else to do with my hands, like if I was just sitting in class bored or reading a book or something.

Except I'm really happy that I managed to stop biting them a few months ago! I've been bragging about it to all my friends and showing off my nice long nails. :D

Basically I just got mad at myself and I thought, "You know, for once I'd like to have nice looking hands." So, every night I painted clear nail polish and even though I'd pick it off during the day (probably really bad for nails too, but I had to do something), I managed to stop biting them.

*smiles and shows off her long fingernails*

And my mom tells me that I have really strong nails, but I didn't know it before because they were always bitten down really short.

Sammi 06-02-2007 02:39 AM

I still bite mine!!! -whine- I need to stop, since I just got my acryllics off... so my nails are super weak!! Nothing works anymore. :( I just need to have willpower and stop. xDD

suppi 06-02-2007 03:02 AM

I don't. I didn't even bite my nails once when I was young..that's why my nails are healthy and long. =] But I need to clip them soon. o.o My sister was a huge nail biter though.. "Was" meaning she doesn't anymore...I don't know why, but even when she was 12 she bit her nails...and ate them probably. She stopped eventually, and never did that again. =] Hopefully she's not biting her nails secretly in her room o.o

Billiam 06-02-2007 03:06 AM

I was never a nail biter, I never really understood why anyone did it in the first place, ya know??

I mean, I always hear "its just a habit" whenever you ask someone, but I just don't get it.

But one thing that is so cute is when my girlfriend does it. She has little hands compared to mine, and she nibbles on the little tips of her fingers like a little hamster, its just so cute. And when she is bored or something, and we are together, if she doesn't have any more of her own finger nails, she takes my hands and nibbles on mine. It is so adorable. But it is okay, I am very carful about always having clean hands anyway, I think it is important quality in people, but sometimes hard to find.

I'm a chronic nail biter. I've been doing it since I was about 4-5 and it isn't just biting down the whites, I'll normally bite them until they bleed. But I've finally almost kicked the habit. When I started working out regularily I promised myself that the best way to keep in the habit would be to stop biting my nails. And for the past few months its completely worked, and I've kept up with my workout routine. It takes a lot though, there are times when i just want to rip them off. No one else in my family does it, my sis and mom are obssesed with their nails and my bro and dad find the habit disgusting.

Which it really is, I mean really how much dirt gets under there and germes it isn't healthy, but its almost a relief. I think the reason i bit them for so long was the pain, i mean when ur fingers are bleeding and sore for days afterward, just having that there whenever u used anything, it was almost reassuring.

wow, that sounds crazy

Muggles Running Amok 06-02-2007 05:04 AM

I know it's a bad habit, but I bite my nails whenever I need something to fidget with in a situation that makes me nervous.

=/

Taiikou 06-02-2007 05:12 AM

  • I bite my nails when under stress or incredibly depressed.
    <.<

Gabriel 06-02-2007 05:46 AM

At rare times, I still tend to bite my own nails. Generally it's based on a nervous reaction, or some other sub-conscious reasonings.

It's not something I commonly catch myself doing anymore though.

Chaitealatte 06-02-2007 05:59 AM

If I'm stressed or anxious I bite my nails. ;~;

I'm trying to stop.

But it's like, oh BLOODY WILL POWER WHERE'D YOU GO?

Taiikou 06-02-2007 06:17 AM

  • I can go months without biting them and then when they are long and perfect I'll begin to bite them for some dumb reason. I really hate the habit and wish it'd just go away forever. Just like my cracking my knuckles. Ive been doing it for fourteen years(since I was four) and they hurt when I lift every items. When I hit thirty I'm screwed....

Sun 06-02-2007 09:22 AM

I used to do this alot. Although not to the extent that i had no nails. That disgusts me majorly seeing nials like that. I just used to bite them when they grew to long. I became very good at shaping nails with just my teeth. Never know it might come in handy at some point.

I hardley ever do it now though, since i got a compliment about them a couple years back, i just clip them now when they get to long.

PixelBabii 10-25-2007 01:50 PM

I still bite my nails.
But not as often as I use too.
I'm trying to let them grow.
As far as I know, they aren't
any nail biters in my family. I
think that it is just a habit of mine.
I really have no clue why I do it.

Nissa 10-25-2007 01:54 PM

I had a huge issue with my bottom wisdom teeth about a year ago. I quit smoking, biting my nails, and lost about 20lbs the unhealthy way simply because I couldn't stand to have anything near my mouth. It hurt  .

I only bite my nails sometimes while reading now. But for the most part, they are unbitten and fairly well maintained.
