The astral halo was round? xD

Hmm... Art charged in cons could vary on whether it's just a sketch or coloured works. Copic works can cost about 10-30 dollars here in my country (local currency) where sketches and/or black and white inking bring about 2-10 dollars. No idea about the others, though. ^^

ToriKat 06-30-2008 05:00 AM

o_o I've never charged more than one American dollar for a sketch back in high school. T^T

(because no one would buy!) xD

(and actually, they were realism portraits, fully shaded T^T)

Iro 06-30-2008 05:04 AM

o3o;;

Cons might be different? Since the people who go to cons look for mostly anime/manga styled art anyway. Maybe one or two dollars would be good then? Or you can look around other stalls before settling on a price. xD;;

Realism portraits fully shaded must have been a lot of work. X_x

ToriKat 06-30-2008 05:08 AM

*glad to not to realism much anymore* xD

One con I went to, they charged $10-15 dollars. *thinks she drew better, coughs*

I guess someday I'll try getting a table at a con and selling stuff. ^^;;

Iro 06-30-2008 05:12 AM

I'm bad at realism art, so I never try. lol

Wow, ten to fifteen dollars. Those must be rather good artists if people are buying their artworks. O_o
Tori could start out cheap, maybe? xD

I've never gotten my own table, actually. :lol:
Mostly I just ask around and look for artists willing to do art trade sketches with me in the con through the online forums first, then I go to their stalls to draw. *too poor to buy art* xD

ToriKat 06-30-2008 05:36 AM

Haha, whenever I get the guts to try, yes. x3

No one was at the artist alley at that convention. xD Kind of felt bad for those people. ^^; Paying something like $60 for a table and $40 for the ticket to get in just to stare at people walking by.

That sounds like so much fun. xD *needs to meet people* 8D

Foxxi 06-30-2008 06:22 AM

Goodluck on the boa this time around!^^

ToriKat 06-30-2008 06:25 AM

Thanks Foxxi! And congratulations on obtaining it! :D

Foxxi 06-30-2008 06:47 AM

Thank you!^^

nocturnal miyu 06-30-2008 07:42 AM

it really depends... i got some amazing art for like $10 or less, and some were $25+
prints are usually around $5-$10...
(honestly, my cheaper art were mostly nicer than my more expensive art... ^^; )
and then of course there were artists that i didn't commission at all... ^^;
but yeah, general prices were:
new artists usually cheaper - $5+ depending on type of art too...
regular artists - $10+
expensive artists - $25+ (as in $25 was the sketch... >.< )
usually the artists in the 2% worse than miyu category were usually in the $5+

ToriKat 07-01-2008 03:32 AM

O_o;; $25 for a sketch...goodness.....I think I'm far too cheap to dish out that much for a sketch.

nocturnal miyu 07-01-2008 06:24 AM

i don't think i bought sketches that were $25... i think those were all colored ones (cuz miyu is cheap too), but i didn't commission a lot of artists and i definitely saw stuff that were so expensive that even my artist friend who had a table said what were they thinking charging so much at a con... ^^;

xuvrette 07-01-2008 02:02 PM

Iroro... your currency makes everything cheap. (yeah, includes my currency too.)
OOoo, which con you go? I am so ignorant for con at that place.

I want to charge that much for sketch!!

Iro 07-02-2008 04:33 AM

:lol: That's very true, xuv. That was why I specifically noted that it was based on local currency. XD

There are a few cons, one is hosted by Gempak, another is Comic Fiesta, then there is the mid year cosplay convention. I believe there are one or two more minor ones, but I personally think Comic Fiesta is the best among them. *nods* =)

nocturnal miyu 07-02-2008 05:46 AM

actually if tori is as good with real media as she is with digital art, then you can easily charge $10 for a sketch and more for anything colored...
one day i will scan 2 of my fave $10 sketches... it was drawn by zeiva and muhoho-seijin on DA... *drools*

ToriKat 07-02-2008 08:02 AM

Oo, I definitely want to see. xD

I dunno if I'm any good at sketches. xD I really don't like showing people. *hides them under her chair* 8D

nocturnal miyu 07-02-2008 08:58 AM

well, i need to find a scanner to scan first... XD

*looks below tori's chair*
(that sounds so perverted... XD )

xuvrette 07-02-2008 10:02 AM

Iroro...that comic fiesta... the cosplay section SCARES me away! D: That is the 1st time I know such thing as cosplay exist. I was so disappointed.

nocturnal miyu 07-02-2008 10:27 AM

cosplay can be good when done well... but most of the time it's not... especially by people who wear things that are most definitely not suitable for them... XD

xuvrette 07-02-2008 11:26 AM

And not being REAL enough...

Iro 07-03-2008 03:03 AM

The latest cosplays are better, xuv. If you went there 3/4 years ago, it's horrible, I agree, because they were just starting on the cosplay trend here, so it's not so good. *nods*

Speaking of sketches.....

*drools at kidchan's, meisan's and terra's* :drool:

ToriKat 07-03-2008 04:33 AM

o_o I only recognize the artist kidchan...*wonders who the other two are?*

The cosplays where I live...they're terrible. xD And that's putting it nicely.

Iro 07-03-2008 02:12 PM

Both of the artists could also be found on deviantart. ~_^

meisan
terra
(She's also the one who drew my first ever Xaevan fanart. 8D)

Where is Tori living in? O_O

xuvrette 07-04-2008 12:48 AM

YES, correct, I went there 7 years ago! grr...

ToriKat 07-04-2008 04:52 AM

I've seen meisan before! Wooooow. >_< So beautiful! They're really amazing.

I live in the US...Texas to be exact. T^T Even though Dallas has a really big one - A-Kon, I only got to go to two really small ones.
