Moulin Rouge!

Love it? :D

Marguerite Blakeney 04-16-2007 03:38 PM

Definitely. I watched this on Saturday coz I haven't seen it in a long time. Back in middle school, I used to know the whole script and now it's like...I don't know it at all, sadly. It's good to relive the moment though, and Ewan McGregor is TOOOOOO hot.

Tamerthanthou 04-16-2007 03:46 PM

I love Moulin Rouge. I have the souindtrack on my iPod. And yes, I agree with the Ewan McGregor comment.

Folken 04-16-2007 08:01 PM

moulin rouge is the movie of forever. I love ewan mcgregor and nicole kidman for playing those roles because they are the best. :)

It's definitely one of my favorite movies. At first I actually didn't really like it very much, I was bothered by the fact that all of the music came from somewhere else. But it definitely grew on me in a very big way and I absolutely adore it. <33

secretdae007 06-26-2007 12:19 AM

To be honest, I'm not really in love with this movie >.>; I mean, it is ok but really, the movie did nothing for me... I felt like the music wasn't all that original (at least I know one song really wasn't) and that it could have been better... And I don't know how I feel about Nicole Kidman playing Satine... I just don't see her doing musical numbers and what not >.>;

Aliena 06-26-2007 03:06 AM

This is one of my favorite movies. I love how they did the music - love how they took known songs and made them their own. The music was definitely one thing that hooked me as well as the overall production - the color and grandeur of it all. "Come What May" is a gorgeous sequence, I think. It's funny because when the movie first came out, I didn't care for the song (it was long before I actually got to see the movie), but after I saw it, I fell in love with that song. Ewan's got a terrific voice and he was completely endearing in that movie.

Cami 06-26-2007 08:59 PM

It's been a while since I've seen that one, but I'll give it a go.

2 out of 5 stars.

I like the music of Moulin Rouge. I really enjoy how they took popular songs and remade them, or mixed them together. The one on the roof with the two main characters singing back and forth about love - I think that's awesome.

However, I didn't much like the plot or the acting. I know that they were going for some type of effect with the severe overacting, but I just found it annoying. It made me cringe and die a little on the inside.

Then the plot, without giving anything away, uses one of the most overused, over dramatic plot devices in all of movieland. I would have a lot more to say on this point if I weren't concerned about spoilers.

I own the cd, but I'm in no hurry to see the movie again.

Ling 06-30-2007 06:28 AM

I saw this movie when it was in the cinemas, and haven't seen it since. But I remember it was not bad.

xUsagix 07-01-2007 12:18 AM

Such a good movie, and a sweet one too; I have to say it makes me cry at the ending almost every time I watch it.

Tease 07-05-2007 12:30 AM

This movie actually put me to sleep. I don't know why I didn't like it... Maybe I should try watching it again. :o

Rvaya 07-05-2007 10:42 PM

yeah you should!
When the movie came out I saw it in the theater and I didn't really like it. It took like 2 years after it was DVD for me to see it again and I fell totally in love. Ever since then I watch when I can! It really is a wonderful film with great music and wonderful characters. Just get past the first 20-30 minutes and every thing's way better!
I look forward to going to the real Moulin Rouge while I'll be living in Paris n_n

Aha, I've watched that movie a few times, maybe three times? And to tell you the truth, I love it, it's fun, but I can't say it still doesn't confuse me. Maybe I'm just a little slow, or maybe I'm too young, I don't know, but somethings I'm curious about, and only can undersatnd to a certain extent. But I think it's a very fun, and say...adorable movie? I'd have to say my favorite part is the general narration and the plot. The whole thing in general made me laugh, and it was also pretty sad. And in a sense...scary. Ahaha. :] Oh well. Still neat.

One of a kind romance movie. We were in high school when this movie was released in theatres. Two of my female friends asked me to go with them and watch this movie. Upon seeing the poster, my reaction was "uh... I'm not that certain if I want to enter the theatre and watch this movie".

But I gave it a shot, and no regrets at all. The movie is spectacular, I love the way how the story was presented. The actors are great, especially the chemistry of Ewan and Nicole. Plus the songs are great too! The soundtracks and the movie will surely last for centuries. Not exaggerating! ;P

I love Moulin Rouge! I like Baz Luhrman's work, It's always grand, and can't wait to see his next movie.

What I like specifically in Moulin Rouge is the use of color, the acting, and costumes. Overall, I love the genre and the plot. I'm a sucker for love stories, especially if it involves unrequited love or ends in tragedy. I'm always a little suspicious of 'happily ever after' endings unless it's a fairy tale.

"Christian, you may see me only as a drunken, vice-ridden gnome whose friends are just pimps and girls from the brothels. But I know about art and love, if only because I long for it with every fiber of my being." Toulouse

HotaruHoshi 04-17-2008 05:19 AM

I have never seen it, when it was made into a movie I was planning to, till they put Nicole Kidman in it. She is an actress I can't stand, I don't have a rational reason she just bugs me and can't watch her movies.

In my opinion, if you don't like her, watch it for the deliciousness that is Ewan McGregor.

MrsGrape 04-26-2008 12:34 AM
