Certain vegans will eat honey because it doesn't actually harm the bee, but other vegans don't use any products from animals.
And a vegan diet is actually very healthy if it's done the right way.....much healthier than a standard American diet. They can get all their protein from nuts and soy. I wouldn't be going into something like this unless I researched it and a vegan diet has more pros than cons. So, I don't really see how a vegan diet could be unhealthy. But some people are better off with meats and dairy.....from this book called "Eat right for your type", I learned that type O benefits from meat, but should have low carbs, but type A should try to eliminate meat and dairy, but have higher carbs like grains, but I'm still going to lay off of that because I don't want to gain a ton of weight from eating bread. Going vegan isn't going to be the hard part---eating raw foods will take a little more getting used to. But I just put some frozen bananas and strawberries in the juicer and it's all creamy and so yummy! It really taste like dessert. :3 For breakfast I'll probably have a strawberry-banana smoothie...lunch: salad of romaine lettuce with dried cranberries and veggies on the side and I'll have some fresh juiced grape fruit---oh and to get some protein I have some of this veggie meat so when I soak it in water it taste a lot like meat so I'll try to have some of that...dinner: After I go buy some raw nuts I'll have a mix of walnuts, dried cranberries, dried bananas and I might juice some more veggies like carrots, beets, and celery along with an apple. And I'll try to ride some on my bike and maybe go for a walk. I rode some today.....exercise and eating healthy is really the key for me so I have to try to accomplish both. @Flink: You don't like beans? I like them quite a bit although I won't have them too much because I'll try to be at least 95% raw for a while. Lentils are tasty and super healthy. :3 Aww...what did cows do that was so wrong? D; Yah...this is no diet pill.....it's a fast of lemonade, sea salt water, water, and tea. I've read a lot people reaction to it and after the fourth or fifth day most people felt a lot better and had a lot of energy. It's also very healing. I see diet pills all the time on TV, but I don't ever want to try one.....I don't see how that would make me healthier. With what I'm going to do I know everything that will be going into my body. Diet pills just seem more dangerous. |
jellysundae ~ Oh, okay, thank you! ^_^

Cow faces disgust Flink. They look so dumb, so vacant. And their noses! They always looks like they're covered in snot. -shudder-
They smell bad! There was a thing going around that they emit a LOT of pollution. Even if it's not true, which it may not be, Flink still thinks they smell horrid. The four stomachs thing.. Uhg. They have to spit stuff up and continue to chew it. -shudder- They do taste good when cooked. That's the only thing Flink thinks cows are good for. Eating. They serve no other purpose. |
Ahh!
I think some cows are pretty cute. Ever since I was really little I've always wanted to live on a farm type setting and have cows, horses, and a bunch of animals. And the only kind of pollution I could think of that the cows produce would be manure....so that's basically fertilizer. And I don't know how good the milk is in its pure form, but by the time it's in the stores it's not very good for the body. If everything wasn't so processed the world would be a better place. :x |
Welcome Aurora! I'd love to help you but I'm not sure how much I can. I've never really had a problem with wanting to GAIN weight. I agree about the Yoga or pilaties though.. It'll help you gain lean muscle instead of bulk. *nodnod*
Sars~ That's great! I'm also on the larger side when it comes to breasties. It's nice to be able to get a smaller bra after dieting for a while. rofl! I would say a vegan diet has the POTENTIAL of being unhealthy... but if it is done correctly and you have a good nutritionist to keep an eye on you while you're doing it I don't see any problems with a vegan diet. Cows are cute! xDD So I was pretty bad this weekend. I made brownies and had ice cream/brownie sundays. They were delicious though xD I also went to the movies and had candy and popcorn.. But I did drink diet soda. I also had frozen lasagna for dinner on Fri and Sat, but I only had one portion so I don't feel terrible about it. However, I didn't eat nearly enough veggies this weekend. I did pretty well last week though so I don't really feel that bad about it. I've been eating ham sandwiches on all natural whole wheat bread all week with carrots, fruit, and a walnut/pecan mix of raw nuts. I have turkey bacon on an all natural whole wheat english muffin for breakfast. I've found that eating the same thing for two meals every day really helps keep you in line. Then, as long as you have a reasonable dinner, you've managed to eat healthy all day without really having to worry a whole lot about what you're going to eat. I've found it to work really well! :o It's only when I'm out of my routines (weekends) that I have issues. I need to make routines for the weekends. For lunch today I'm going to eat at a mongolian grill.. which isn't the healthiest but I'm going to eat vegetarian so at least I'll be getting some veggies in and help keep the fat down by omitting meat. Plus I LOVE their tofu. It's sooo yummy. :3~<3 |
Oh. Everyone's supposed to report in on Monday. XD
Uhm... Flink was relatively good last week. She's been cutting down her portions, mainly because the diet pill, more like an appetite reducer, has helped her feel less hungry all day. ^-^ AND she can tell when she's full now. She's been drinking water most of the day, except as she's said before in the morning when she has one cup of soda mixed with lots of ice. However, she has to get back to work. She'll finish this later. XD |
To a lasagna lover like myself, this sounds sooo good! I'm going to see if my mom will get some of the ingredients this week so I can try it. :3
I found a ton more raw recipes so if you all are interested in something particular I'll look through them and either post it here or message you. ^^ Raw Lasagna: 1 to 2 servings (Cornbleet, pag 114) 1/2 zucchini (yeah, right) 2 cups spinach leaves, tightly packed 1/2 cup Marinara sauce (recipe follows, page 65) 1/2 ripe avocado, mashed Thinly slice the zucchini lengthwise into long, wide noodles using a mandoline or a sharp knife. Place the spinach in a food processor fitted with the S blade and pulse or process until finely chopped. Transfer to a medium bowl. Coat the bottom of a small square container (I'm a rebel - mine was rectangular) with 2 tablespoons of the Marinara Sauce and arrange a third of the zucchini noodles in a layer over it. Top with 2 tablespoons of the Marnaria Sauce. Add a layer of half of the avocado. Top with half of the spinach and press with the rubber spatula. Repeat this layering process. A third of the zucchini and 2 tablespoons of the marnianra Sauce should remain. Layer the zucchini on top and cover with the Marinara. Store in a sealed container in the fridge. Lasagna will keep for two days (yeah right). Marinara Sauce: Yield 1 Cup, 4 servings (I use the entire thing with my zucchini) 1 ripe tomato seeded and chopped (about 1/4 cup) 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked or oil-packed 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped (about 1/2 cup) 2 TBLS olive oil 1 TBLS minced fresh basil, or 1 tsp dried 1 tsp oregano 1/2 tsp crushed garlic (1 clove) - I use 3 giant cloves 1/4 tsp plus 1/8 tsp salt Dash black pepper Dash cayenne Place all the ingredients in a food processor fitted with the S blade and process until smooth. Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Marinara Sauce will keep for three days. |
That sounds yummy Suki!! I wonder if I could get my boyfriend to eat it if I made it... *ponders*
Let me know how it tastes! |
So I weighted myself this morning while my hair was wet. I haven't lost weight but I haven't gained either. Which is good considering I ate a brownie fudge sunday last night.
Just thought I'd share. =) |
Mine's still the same too, though my belly is huge right now! Water retention to the max! When my hormones sort themselves out if think i'll be set to pee for a week solid
|
ROFL. That sucks Jelly. T_T
Drink more water. It helps cut down on water retention. *nod* |
Grrrrr........my credit card was declined when the gym tried to bill me for the new month. >.< So now I have no gym membership and I apparently owe then an extra $10 for my card not working. Great. Just wonderful. So now I am going to put my membership on my dad's card and just pay him in cash since my debt is so bad I can't depend on my over-used credit card to do it for me.
But I plan to go tomorrow. 8) |
Hello, everyone. -waves-
This is a cool idea for a thread. I had sort of a depresing year (My grandmother with severe Alzheimer's disease died and my first serious boyfriend broke up with me.) and gained about 20 pounds. I know that's not a huge amount, but I'm only 17, I've always been in fairly good shape, and I used to be a somewhat competitive runner. I haven't been active on a sports team since last fall. (I used to do a different sport each season..) I'm not really actively dieting at the moment, but I'm trying to watch what I eat and start running again so that I can do cross country this fall. Maybe I'll fill out a profile.^^ Good luck to all of you with meeting your goals! I love fatty foods and junk food a lot so I'm not very good at dieting... It's really impressive what you're all doing. :] |
Name/Nickname: nescia
Current Weight: 118 Target Weight: 105 (My weight last fall) Body Mass Index: 19 (That's in the normal range, but I have a lot more flab right now than I'm used to..) Number of Pounds to Lose: 13... Yikes! How Many Weeks: I'd like to do it in 2 months.. Diet/Exercise Plan: I don't really have a clear plan at the moment. Just walking and start running 2 miles everyday. Make sure to eat less than 2,000 calories each day... |
Good luck to you nescia. The running/walking will really help *nod*
Sorry to hear about your RL issues. I hope things are looking brighter for you soon n_n <3 |
Flink forgot to tell her progress last week. x.x
She'd lost 2 pounds last week. This week, she's yet to weigh in since she's not home all day on Monday. XD So she has to weigh in on Tuesday or Wednesday. o.o Lunch today is a chicken salad and wheat crackers kit, Flink loves those crackers. O_O And as much of a granola bar as she can eat before she's too full. Which is probably now. o.o Sooo, 1/4 granola bar added to the chicken salad kit. And She has a granola bar and the part of the other one left for in case she gets hungry later and wants to snack. o.o Drink is a Powerade, since the store she normally gets water from was out of the larger things which she normally gets. x.x (1 litre things of water). The lasagna recipe sounds really good. Flink may buy the stuff for it and try it sometime during the weekend. o.o And cows produce a lot of methane gas. XD |
@Eroy- Yup. It's kind of harder to get back into the habit of being active than I expected it to be.. When I get home from work or musical rehearsal, I just want to plop down in bed or in front of the computer... Also, thanks for the well-wishing. xD
@FlinkPamingo- Good job losing two pounds! Chicken salad sounds good right now...hmm... Well, it's Monday and I guess that I should report... I still weigh 118, but I only posted here on Saturday...hehe I'll try to have some actual progress for next week. :3 |
I love that a new breath of life has been given to this thread!
For a while there it was looking like we were going to fall off the page! Welcome everyone who is new to the thread! My computer exploded, so I haven't really been able to do any thread maintenance.... dang! Anyways, I have some sad news to report.... after a week of being cocky in my weightloss, and pigging out quite a bit.... I am back up to 140. I AM SO UPSET WITH MYSELF!!! how do you go from 133/134 to 140 in like 9 days? ugh. I'll tell you how.... indulging in pizza at work everyday. NO MORE PIZZA!!! haha. im trying to stay away from the greek salad too, but its hard because its so yummy haha. Anyways, I am really wanting to get this re-gain off, and then sweat off another 10. Looks like I won't get to wear a bikini this summer... but maybe I'll look for a super cute 1-piece. All is not lost! I am going on a mini-vacation next weekend, 3 days at my friends cabin on a gorgeous lake... I cannot wait! Anyways. I am getting back on track. I wish I had this thread to keep me in check everyday. Man, I really need my compy fixed! Keep it up you guys! |
i still haven't lost any more, but right now i am at my minimum weight of 141. It will probably creep back up to 145 from this, but i'm really not bothered about that as that's still 9lb less than i used to be ^^
Sars have you got your carnival pin yet? i don't know if you were around much last week. |
Good job flink!
nescia ~ Ya.. its so hot outside too. That makes me inactive. I should join a gym for the summer months b/c it's too hot to go outside without going to the pool or the lake or something. Well. I gained 4 lbs over the last couple of weeks. *dies* I've totally fallen of the wagon. I'm glad I can be honest with you guys though because you help me get back on track. I'm going to try and not go out to eat this week. I did that too much last week and that's what got me into trouble. So it's back to the norm for me. My goal this week is to pick back up on drinking water and taking my vitamins and fish oil. *nod* |
