Pokemon!!! (Old versions. (Before Gold and Silver))

:D
Pokemon Blue and Red. Probably two of my most favorite games. I didn't care much for Yellow version.
Stupid annoying Pikachu...
I traded him away to my Pokemon Red and restarted the game.

So, lately I've started to play it again. I don't remember much from it though.

So...

Discuss Pokemon Red & Blue (possibly Yellow)

And I have a question. Can all the pokemon be caught on Pokemon Red and Blue??? Or do I HAVE to play Pokemon Yellow? (hoping for a no...) d:

Otohime 04-29-2007 10:24 PM

Blue and Red are meant to compliment each other - neither game has all the Pokemon. But what one is missing the other has.

I don't remember much about Yellow, even though I own it... except that there are no Pikachus aside from the one you are given at the beginning. >_>

No, you shouldn't need to play yellow to get all of the Pokemon. Blue and Red should be enough. I remember back in the day I had two gameboys so I could trade with myself and I ended up getting all 150 that way. I know I had Yellow as well but I don't really remember playing it all that far. But if I remember correctly, Yellow came out after Blue and Red did, so you shouldn't need Yellow for any of them.

:D
Ok. Thanks. I'm going to catch the original 151 Pokemon. :o

Meioku 04-30-2007 01:05 AM

Oh, wow. Those games are classics XD They're so fun to play, and there's not a million things you have to consider while playing. My favorite of the three is Yellow, though ^^; I loved the little Pikachu.

As for the 151 thing, I believe the only way to obtain #151 Mew legitimately is to get it through the actual Pokemon League events IRL. I'm sure every real Pokemon fan/nerd (moi) owns a GameShark or some other hacking device and had used it XD

knut 04-30-2007 12:58 PM

i used to have both the blue and red but my brother had the blue one and i had the red one. and i did have the yellow one dunno if i still have it or not, still have the gold one lol
but i dont know what happened to the red and blue games but i used to play them all the time

Aeris 04-30-2007 09:46 PM

I love yellow, I don't care what you say D:

I really loved the first season of the show though, so that's why I love it so much. XD <3<3<3

But as for the first two, I had red and my brother had blue. We rocked the place. I miss it.

Kasumi 04-30-2007 10:46 PM

I've played Red.

Krazy-kat 04-30-2007 11:07 PM

I have no idea where mine went off to. Although the thing I remember about playing those games was that you either had to use the connector that came with Poke'mon Statium or to squish yourself under a lamp to be able to see the screen.

Zurie 05-01-2007 03:56 AM

  • I've got Red and Yellow lying around here somewhere, but I never really played them that much. I came into the Pokemon game scene with Gold/Silver, 'cause that's when my mother finally cracked and bought me a Gameboy Color. xDD

Jennifer 05-01-2007 04:27 AM

;.; I've only Poke'mon Blue. I really wish I knew where I could purchase them others games (Red &&/or Yellow). If any of you know where, please let me know.

Meioku 05-01-2007 05:11 AM

Hm... are there any stores that sell used games around you, Bumuu? Over here, we have GameStop and GameXCrazy (Hollywood Video).

Jennifer 05-01-2007 05:31 AM

Not that I'm aware of. I mean, right now, I'm visiting my family for the month. Back in Boise, I wouldn't even know where to search for a game store anyway. ;.;

I remember going to a Pokemon League event at a mall nearby my house when I was in seventh grade. I was kind of a noob still, because none of my pokemon were level 100. D:
And I got randomly picked to go up against this "Gym Leader" on the N64 battle thing... and he was such a dick and was mean to me.
I was like, 12! :(

But they handed out Mews and Rare pokemon cards right and left. I wish I had kept my red and blue versions.
Perhaps I will buy them next time I go to Gamestop. :3

Meioku 05-02-2007 04:31 AM

Gasp! How can anypne be deprived of classic video games TToTT; I'm sorry to hear that~

>3< Couldn't they have chosen more patient and nicer "gym leaders" seeing as a lot of Pokeman fans are children? Sheesh.

mooglebunny 05-02-2007 03:26 PM

I have Blue still, and like, of course it has a Blastoise. xD Uhm, I used to have yellow, but my friend stole it from me, or lost it. >.>

Like, but I heard that if you went to special events on Yellow, you could get surfing pikachu, and the flying pikachu. xD :o I dunno though. xD

It's too boring for me though, with only 151. xD (I still don't get how to catch mew though with the cycling road thing. D: )

The Swiss Guard 05-02-2007 11:57 PM

Pokemon Blue Version is my favorite hand held pokemon game ever. I always love using a cheat to multiply my rare candy.

Rawrsaurus 05-03-2007 02:09 AM

I had red when it was the coolest thing ever. Haha just started to replay Crystal since i'd been bored and I remember i really enjoyed that one a lot. The night and day thing really added some extra fun. It got me waking up at ridiculous times to hop on my gameboy and catch some pokemon >_>

Bippy 05-03-2007 03:38 AM

I had pokemon blue when I was a kid and I loved it. I had all 151 pokemon and most of the ones in my party were lvl 80 or above. *sigh* rarely does a game come around that totaly engulfs my life like that game did...

Man 05-11-2007 05:46 AM

I still have my red, blue, AND yellow pokemon cartridge things. xD <3 So awesome. For the red and blue, I've got all 150 pokemon (No mew, sadly ;3; ) and I remembered, like, last year that a guy in the tower at Celadon City was all "When you get all the POKEMANZ come and see me! :D" I was so excited and thought he was going to give me Mew or something; all I got was a lame certificate. :P But eh~ When the yellow version came out, I thought that was really rad. I wanted to make Pikachu surf. xDD

Meioku 05-11-2007 06:52 AM

The surfing Pikachu minigame was so fun! I always thought Pikachu surfed backwards, though o_O

GainaSpirit 05-11-2007 03:23 PM

Old version ? I had the red one I think >.< I don't really remember now O.o Anyway the game concept didn't changed at all. When you played that one, all the other are basicly the same >.< the only thing that change are the pokemon to choose and capture. Out of that, the story line is the same.

Buckwheat Noodles 05-12-2007 01:32 AM

I still have my Pokemon Blue and Red versions... my very first one was the Red, because a friend of mine at the time had the Red version and that was the one I knew about and therefore liked. But eventually I decided that I wanted to get the Blue, to catch everything.. even if I couldn't connect the two games at the time. XD

I was sooo obsessed with Pokemon for a long time... Not so much now, of course (8-9 years later, haha), but I still pull them out to play on occasion.

royaljester 05-20-2007 08:37 PM

i got the red version but i wanted blue.. my brother took the last blue so i got a blastoise sticker and put it on it!! YEY!! I am soooo smart!!!!
i've never played yellow version....
my sister's friend's brother had a green version... but it was all in japanese... idk if it was for real or not but i saw the cartridge and it looked real! they could've just dyed it green and gotten a sticker for it... idk..

Tentacle King 05-21-2007 02:02 AM

Oh yeah I used to love them games so much. They where the very first gameboy games I had and the entire reason I wanted a gameboy in the first place. I played through blue and then didn't have the heart to wipe my game and start again so I bought red instead. I used to love pokemon so much. I still love the original 150 pokemon the most.
