Anime isn't what got me into drawing. When I was in kindergarten (in China. They have dorms and everything), everybody went to an art class that takes place on Tuseday night. We mostly did Chinese painting there. I developed a passion for drawing in grade 1 and doodled on my walls(you're not allowed to doodle in your notebooks in China. The teacher collects your notebooks to grade hmwk). Then I went to Canada, and drew some ugly fanart XD When I was 8 I began taking a drawing class at an artshop. It was expensive, and the teacher is too engrossed in selling art so I moved to an art class that took place in someone's basement. The art class got bigger and moved to a plaza ^^ I'm still in that art class.
As for what got me started in drawing manga style, it's Sailor Moon. I drew fanart of that when I was 6 XD In grade 3, I didn't draw any OC's, so I wouldn't really use manga style outside of fanart. Then in grade 4, I saw a classmate draw in anime style and she was pretty popular with the class. Well, I started drawing in anime style too because I wanted to be popular then. Didn't work. In grade 5, I continued to draw anime style since I found it easier to do than american cartoon style. I was going through the freakishly whimpy shoulders and freakishly skinny everything phase. Then in grade 6 I finally drew realistic-looking shoulders and got started in computer art with a tablet.
