HELP ME from my bad habit!!
I have a bad habit of impulsive buying. I spend a lot of money. I'm not rich, don't get me wrong. But I'm really bad with it.
Let's say, if I walk into a store & see something I like, even a little bit, I'll be like "LETS BUY IT~!!" & buy it, then it will sit & rot in my room... :( I spend like no tomorrow, & I find it hard to save money. I'm meant to be saving for a holiday next year too. Not only that but, when I see charities, or street performers I like to give money too, & my boyfriend would tell me off saying not to give it because it's not like I have a lot of money myself. :( |
Isn't that what most girls are like? Heheh :D
If I had the freedom (and money) to do that, I probably would, but as I'm encouraged to manage my own hobbies and interests; I have to spend money I do get as sensibly as possible. I'm actually not a bad saver though. |
eep went through that fase not the best DX
Here cut half your money and hide it or give it to your bf and tell him to not give it to you if its not an emergency itll help cut out that bad habit in like 2 weeks =3 just as long as you shop around a mall with like only 10$ youll learn to strech the dollar =3 |
I'm pretty good at the whole saving money thing.
Although, where I am from, I don't have very much money to save at all. Any money i do have isn't very much in the first place, and any money i might make, most of it is taken by my parents  But anyway, I have never really had the troubles of spending alot of money, unless it was online or something ya know? Like on Gaia, i usually save ll month, and then on the 15th of every month, i go crazy on the market |

I can't do that. I don't like buying something unless I really like it and plan to use it. But then again, I love having money, so that might be why.
Maybe try to think about it in the long run to figure out if you'll really keep it and use it, or if it'll be like the rest of the stuff rotting away :3 |
*wack!*
watch yurr spendin darlin! Sometimes I'm like that. I really don't like shopping...I like making money and saving and saving and saving. But when the time comes when I get that girly impulse to shop...oh my. 30%-60% of my savings disappear. Of course, I only buy things that I know i will use/wear. I had $60 in my pocket once and it disappeared in 10 minutes  Maybe I shouldn't have bought those shoes and candy... The shoes are hawt tho 8] Then the whole saving spending cycle starts over again x'] |
I'm not like that at all D;
If I see something I think looks good or that I like I'll be all, "maybe I can find something similar for cheaper?" then I look around, and when I finally decide to buy the thing, it's sold XDDDD typical me, and still I do it all the time, I never learn D; |
Hehe, I used to be like that, and still kinda am, but now that I have a job, I (usually) think twice about what I'm buying. However...it still doesn't stop me from buying designer perfumes (Vera Wang Princess is my favorite xD; ) and clothes from stores that should prolly be cheaper. Oh, and forget it if I walk into Sephora. There's no hope for my money once I'm in there XD;;
(゜ω゜‘) |
my advice: dont buy it once you see it. walk around with it for a little bit. look at it again in like 10 minutes or so. if you still like it but arent sure if its worth it put it back. if you really like it go ahead and buy it. thats kept me away from alot of impulse buys. <3
or ill just leave it and go home, but if i still think about it and do have a use for it ill go back and get it at a later date. if its not there anymore... so be it, it wasnt meant to be mine and that money gets to stay in my bank account. XD as for street performers and such, i give them money too. but only if i liked their performance. they are there to make a living and be entertaining. if i enjoyed the show i think its only right to pay them <3 |
Send all your money to me LIl, i'll look after it for you 8)
Invest in the Bank of Jelly http://i9.tinypic.com/542mumo.gif Or better yet..I'll come over to Australia and become your shopping shadow for a small fee, i shall follow you around and whenever i see you looking at an item i shall say 'NO LILITHIA!' and drag you away. You'll soon stop then 8) Even if it's just to get me to go away http://i9.tinypic.com/542mumo.gif |
maybe save the receits and return the stuff when you see that it isnt being used? i dont know how it works wherever you are, but they let us return stuff sometimes, here. XD and give you the money back.
|
yea, just limit the amount of money you have access to. Either put some in a seperate account or give it to your boyfriend to hang on to. I have a girl I work with, she always gives her boyfriend her debit card because otherwise she'd spend all her money.
so, as long as you trust him with your money, it should be just fine. If you don't trust him... well, you either just started dating, or maybe should work on trust issues ;) |
Aw..maybe you should hide your money somewhere so you can't find it. xDD Well, since you're the one hiding it, I guess that won't work...?

I don't know i have the same problem.
|
If you want to save money make a bank account you an't take money out of accept 1 a month or year or something like that! As soon as you get your money put some away in.
Also don't go place where you will want to buy stuff unless you have too! When you see something you want to buy ask youself do i really want it? do I really need it? Is there something I want more that I want be able to get if I spent my money on this? Is it worth my money? Will I still want it after I buy it? Stuff like that! |
|
I have that problem too. I actually opened a savings account at INGDirect..
It takes so long to get money from the account (really a couple days) that by the time I would get it, I don't feel like spending it anymore. It might not be a bad idea to try something like that. |
I have a similar problem. Only, instead of spending money I just build up more and more credit card debt. .___.; And even when it's really bad, I still can't help but think about the things that I want to buy -- even though I KNOW I'm in some serious trouble with my debt. |
Put it into a high-yeild savings account and make your money work for you. If your job offers direct deposit, set it up so a certain ammount goes directly into the account so you never touch it.
^^; That's what I do. I'm the same way, I burn money like nobody's business. |
Ha, I'm sorry.
I've never had a problem with that, really. I hate shopping, in all honesty. It just bores me to death and beyond. But, my friend has that problem. Only take about ten or twenty dollars when you go to shop--it'll help you think over what you really want, and what just catches your eye. ^^ |

You should let your parents handle your credit cards/bank books/wallet etc.
coz' they are able to help you resist those ebil temptations xD |
I use to be the same way on ebay. I'd see something cool and I'd have to buy it! To stop that obsession I just stopped going to ebay.
An easy thing to do is get in the habit of asking yourself "do I need this" and if the answer is no then don't get it. Now, what qualifies as a need, you might ask? -If it's food and you're not going to get to eat for a very long while -If it's an artical of cloathing like pants, shoes, socks, shirts, skirts, dress, etc, that you need because of an event or because your old pair is worn out. Anything else like dolls, accessories or games I can already tell you you don't need. And books are borderline. If it's something you can't borrow from a friend or check out from the library then go ahead and buy it ^_^ Yeah, I am really good at not buying things ever since I've started asking myself 'do i need this' So maybe give it a try. |
