Yep, the books that most recently did that to me were:

The Twelve Kingdoms: Sea of Shadow by Fuyumi Ono. It's a pretty thick book that's only 8 chapters long but I read it all in one day.

Private Series by Kate Brian.

The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison

and Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

Sadistix_Love 08-05-2008 08:10 PM

It happened to me before. The last one was by Norah McClintok. I forgot which novel but it caught me until the very end. Same with Zombie Blonde.

I was to read Fairest and Ever so bad!! D:

Tamerthanthou 08-05-2008 11:56 PM

That happens for me with just about every book; I simply can't put books down once I start reading them.
Unless, like, they're for school, cause those tend to be boring...

Miss_Ericka_Court 08-06-2008 01:14 AM

Yes, it happens to me quite often. I mean to read the first few chapters or so and I wind up staying awake half the night reading. When I read The Host I could not put it down.

I read enchanted in middle school... didn't really effect me much. Books that have caught me and reined me in would be Harry Potter(series), Twilight(series), Jane Austen books, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Survival of the Prettiest (though I never got to finish it... damn librarians), etc.

Lyria_Kae 08-06-2008 07:59 PM

That happens to me almost all the time. XD I'm practically a reading addict, so once I sink my teeth into a good book, I can almost never put it down, often to the extent of even bringing it with me to the bathroom! Some recent examples are the Dark Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop and Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley. I just get engrossed in the characters and the plots... :3

`Y U K I 08-06-2008 08:52 PM

That happened to me and Twilight xD

22Tsuji22 08-07-2008 02:30 AM

Twilight...3rd book of HarryPotter and Memoirs of a Geisha

oHsoDemandinG 08-07-2008 04:25 AM

I had the same experience with The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. Theres a thread here about it. I wanted to read it all the time. I would rush my school work just to read it.

rawtsu penguinn 08-07-2008 06:56 AM

that happens with every book i read. if it doesnt happen i end up not finishing ^^;

A i 08-07-2008 04:39 PM

yes i have...happened in almost each love novels that i read..
i was just planning to read the first few pages because i was bored..
but i usually turned up borrowing the novel and finish it up in a few days >o<

Guilt10044 08-07-2008 07:15 PM

i have done that with so many books, if i wrote them all down i think it would take up and entire page! i love when it happens too its like "my mother: tiff it is 1 am why is your light on?" "me with my face shoved into a book: READING!" XD she doesn't even bother yelling at me to go to sleep anymore, cause she knows it won't stop me.

Coquette 08-08-2008 07:45 PM

yeah, i WAS that way with harry potter, but now i can't even pick it up XD
that happened to me with animal farm, but that is the only book i can remember right now, otherwise i'd say another :'D

Ichigo Kurosaki 08-08-2008 08:25 PM

That definitely happened with Harry Potter. Especially the last few ones.
Apart from that, Lord of the Flies and Dan Brown books. (The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons ... etc.)

Akstar 08-09-2008 03:29 AM

Yep, quite a few, mostly due to those kind are the decent paced ones yay! :D

Once in a blue moon I'll find a book that I just can't put down--only because it was AMAZING. The most recent book was Twilight, but...I was sourly disappointed when that girl (what was her name? Bella?) was told that Edward (again, just going by what SOUNDS right...) was a vampire. I remember we'd just been hit by a hurricane and I thought I'd read the book since the power was out and...it was good up until that chapter. Then I was like, "Well, PSSHT. That was just LAME and REALLY anticlimactic."

I was very disappointed with that.

A point to be made, however...I'm a very fast reader. I can usually read from sixty to eighty (and sometimes a hundred or more) pages within an hour, so if I'm particularly bored, then it's very easy for me to 'not be able to put a book down' until I finish it...only because it takes me very little time to finish it.

LeaSmith 08-09-2008 05:33 PM

Pride and prejudice and Diablo books go for me.

Liriu Koita 08-09-2008 06:53 PM

For me it would be, most recently, Wraeththu by Storm Constantine.

a_shy_girl_1999 08-09-2008 07:43 PM

I had that experience when I was reading the first of the Harry Potter books. I could not put it down and literally read strait through it in just a few hours.

Yoite 08-09-2008 07:50 PM

I think both the Books of Pellinor by Alison Croggon and the Age of the Five series and The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan are hard to put down. x)

Cemetery 08-09-2008 08:59 PM

I've had that happen with a book my brother gave me. xD It was on Magical Gathering. I found the ending of the book so freaking funny. I'd qoute the book but it's somewhere in my brother's room.

Ginger 08-09-2008 10:24 PM

Twilight, Harry Potter Series, The Sword and the Seer, Stray, and so, so, so many others. <3

Otaku 08-09-2008 10:58 PM

I would have to be Paint by Magic I forgot who it was by but it's a really good story ^^ that's the only book I could think of except for some mangas ^^

Michy Lea 08-11-2008 07:36 AM

I couldn't put down most of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, Lurlene McDaniel books, some Dark-Hunter books, and Vampires are Forever by Lynsay Sands. Strangely, Vampires are Forever is a paranormal romance... I finished reading it at night, and all the action in it had me so paranoid when I went to bed. It was so weird. I would've never expected that with a romance novel. She's a really good writer. All three of those authors are.

skye-lord 08-14-2008 07:24 PM

a series of books by Kim Harrison, writer of vampire/witch stories.

and also with Anne Rices - Pandora
