southern Texas and its not a great place to move! can you stand over 100 degrees summers?

because vampires are awesome! DUH!

Dimitri Bloodbane 12-02-2009 04:43 AM

Oops! Looks like Mene doubled your post.

Well, I live in MO, and it's not uncommon for triple-digit weather in the summer here. Especially in July. I've been to Southern TX before, though. Several times, in fact.

Well, I can't disagree with you there. As long as we aren't viewed as "sparkly vampires"... Damn Twilight series... :stare:

ToriKat 12-02-2009 08:54 AM

@Kat: Actually, the sergeants stay inside too. When we did this in the summer, only the junior enlisted went around the post for about eight miles in all of our gear. I overheated at one point -only noticed when things were starting to black a bit - and had to stop, take off my helmet and body armor just to cool off. Then after that...had to go clean weapons. THEN go to bed because I think I was on nights then too. *rolls eyes* Wasn't until like 3pm when I finally got to leave.

@Ultima: Missed you again! D: *doesn't know when you come online* xD How's work?

Ummm..it's been in the 30s to 50s range. Not too bad weather, actually. It's only really cold when it's windy. Otherwise it's just...crisp. I like the cold over the heat just because you can bundle up. I just need to dig up more winter attire. ^^;;

Sparkly vampires...*snickers* I can't get into the Twilight fanaticism at all...

Kat Dakuu 12-02-2009 08:05 PM

I can't stand the cold at all!! I hate how cold it is here now! And I'd hate to be you Tori, sorry. I've overheated many times at marching and colorguard practice. One day two people full out fainted and a small group of us had to sit down. But I'd take that over the cold!!

*shudders* no sparkly!!!! *flail* I don't wanna sparkle if I'm a vampire!!!!

Infinitys Echo 12-03-2009 02:18 PM

Whoops! I disappeared again-sorry! I've been getting a lot done around the house here lately.

CONGRATULATIONS, Kat! I'm SO glad you won! I remember when you started. It was a huge undertaking, that's for sure. Good luck on your latest essay as well. I'm with you on the cold weather thing-I hate it. I'll deal with the heat any day.

Tori-I feel for you having to do a road march. I had a cushy job way back when I was in, Signal Corp, communications, fixed station, so we didn't have to do a whole lot of "soldier" training. The hard part of our days at work were fighting off the cold and sleep on a mid shift or which card to throw out in a game of hearts, spades, or uno LOL!

Staying busy here. I've got my tree up, and half of my outside decorations up. I've done some painting and shopping. Yard work as well, trimmed back my blueberry bushes. Cleaned my carpets and floors. Fixed a few broken things. And still have more to do. Except for a few small things and stocking stuffers for my little guy, I'm done XMas shopping, thank goodness! The only bad thing is all but one of my kitties is sick. They have colds.

Kat Dakuu 12-03-2009 05:41 PM

Echo!!!! *glomps* wow! 0.0 that;s a lot done and so far ahead. Christmas decorations and the tree go up like half way through December at my house!

the greatest part is I already have another essay for english, though I just discovered we have to write it in class for our final. Bleh!!

ToriKat 12-04-2009 12:51 AM

I'm so sore. *FROWNS* I found out that the clinic personnel carried more weight than those in the company...We probably had about twenty pounds more! *shakes fist* We were wondering why the ones who work at the company were able to run ahead of us while we slugged at the end. They were trying to train us for the twelve mile road march, which is part of the Expert Field Medical Badge competition...thing...I don't really want it. :/ Sure, it says you're the cream of the crop in Army medicine...but pfft...physically, I can't handle it. Thirty five pounds, the amount you carry during the road march...is already a third of my body weight. I'M WEAK! Puny...

And my back hurts so much...T^T *whines in her corner*

@Echo: Ahhh! I miss decorating the house and putting up a tree!! We stopped doing it, because...well...there were no presents to put under them anymore.
O_O You have blueberry bushes? Wow! *wants some, drools at the thought of blueberry muffins*
I hope your kitty feels better soon. T_T Poor baby!

@Kat: Eek! An essay during the test! I've had to write short, one page ones as a part of a final, but never just for a final. Does your professor at least tell you the prompt before hand so you can prepare for it?

Kat Dakuu 12-04-2009 04:24 AM

ack!! poor Tori!!!!! that sounds so evil!!

yes, we have the prompt and we only have to write this 1-2 page essay about something easy and personal. I forget the prompt now.

I have to make a 3-d energy drink can and color and make a design tonight. I feel like I'm doing more than the rest of my group now because I didn't do anything when we met. I didn't have my computer so there was nothing for me to do. But I don't have time to make this!!

ToriKat 12-05-2009 11:24 PM

Man, the power went off on my last shift...We had to scramble to make sure the H1N1 vaccines stayed at the same temperature else they would all go bad. It was crazy!

@Kat: Hope you found the prompt. xD

o_o Design an energy drink can? What class is that for? Art? Business? Advertising? xD
I never liked doing group work. I always tended to do most of the work and would constantly prod the others to turn in SOMETHING.

Kat Dakuu 12-06-2009 12:00 AM

oh no! the power and in a clinic?! that does sound crazy!

I didn't look. hehe.

It was for math and my group got second for most athetically pleasing. we were only down one point. I'm glad we split the writing, math, and art parts up between the 3 people in our group so it was real easy to do!

Aryah_Jade 12-06-2009 09:25 PM

hmm, sounds like everyone is keeping busy... that's good.

sorry to hear your version of busy is so painful, though, TK!

Kat Dakuu 12-06-2009 09:32 PM

hello Aryah. how are you today?

Aryah_Jade 12-06-2009 09:52 PM

oh, Hi Kat! I'm ok... a bit bored, but that's why I'm online. How about you?

Kat Dakuu 12-06-2009 10:17 PM

I'm online instead of studying for finals that start tomorrow. I am still studying I swear! just not exclusively....

Aryah_Jade 12-06-2009 10:35 PM

I was never very good at studying.....
probably because to me, studying meant writing things out over and over and over.... boring!

Kat Dakuu 12-06-2009 10:58 PM

yeah, that's kind of what I'm doing now and I'm not getting very far. I really need to study for this one final though because its all short or long answer with no multiple choice.

Yeah, I've been able to slow down a little this past weekend-which worked out good since I caught a little case of the sniffles. I swear, since that asthma thing hit me, I've been sick (mildly) about three times now-and I almost never get sick!

I hope you do well on the essay. Yuck on the writing in class. I'm sure that makes it a lot different.

I feel for you, really I do, Tori! I know what you mean by you'd do without the extra little badge.

Yes, blueberry bushes! The first year, I picked them all and froze what I didn't eat, which of course was a lot. But then no one wanted them. I didn't like them myself that way. They just didn't defrost well. So this year I only picked what I ate. But they were SO big and good this year!

Kitties are still sick. One I think is mostly well. Another is kind of in the middle of it. And the younger one is a little sicker. I'm keeping an eye on her in case I need to take her to the vet. I know you need to be careful with kitties and respiratory infections, but I'm also one who believes that even animals are like us and can catch a cold and go through the cycle like us and be fine. So I just keep them all warm and let them rest and keep an eye on them to make sure they improve and don't get worse.

Kat Dakuu 12-07-2009 11:00 PM

ECHOO!!!! *echo* hehe. my essay for my english final is tomorrow, but it should be fine.

I don't like blueberries unless they're in a muffin or a pancake so I'd rather not have a blueberry bush!

I hope your kitties get well! My old cat had an infection and she never recovered all the way.

ToriKat 12-08-2009 12:32 AM

D: *missed Aryah*

I'm starting to be really convinced I'm a recluse. xD All I do on my off days is work on stuff on the computer. I went out earlier to return some stuff to the library...then did laundry...*laughs* I don't understand people. There are other washers open. Yet they took MY stuff out of the washer and set it aside. I was only FIVE minutes late from when my laundry was done washing. It was a little humorous though...Karma bit that guy in the bum. When I returned to take some of my clothes and blankets from the dryers, someone had shut off the guy's washer or the machine messed up on its own. They guy who threw my stuff out of the washer so he could put it in that specific one. So he had a tantrum, went around shutting off other people's washers, then got yelled at by a sergeant for his behavior.

I swear...these people are supposed to be ADULTS. Grow up. <_<;;

I'm going to run out of stuff to watch while I'm drawing and stuff. I'm almost done watching 24. *anxious for season 8* Watched all of Two and Half Men and Yes Dear. Working on Monk. *sighs*

...I might swing by the store to get blueberry something before I go to work. xD

Kat Dakuu 12-08-2009 01:40 AM

that's hilarious, but maybe the washers that were empty when you went back to get your clothes weren't empty when he took your stuff out? Stuff like that happens at my dorm all the time though.

don't worry, I'm such a recluse too! I spend all my time on my computer!

ToriKat 12-11-2009 01:27 AM

I was five minutes late. With that many washers open and not many dryers in use, he was just being a total jerk. I honestly just can't wait to get my own place someday. I like having certain things not touched. >_> It's disturbing enough to know another battalion's first sergeant came through our room when we weren't there and dug through our underwear drawer. What were they expecting to be under or in all of our panties? Drugs?

I got gassed yesterday morning after work. Thank goodness they had a limited amount of CS gas...I was in the first group to go and my throat was burning and my eyes were watering for quite some time! Thank goodness we only have to go to the gas chamber once a year. =_=;

Tetsumiro 12-11-2009 01:50 AM

*noms on Tori* D: <3

I have a LIFE AGAIN.

For three weeks. Ish. XD

If you can call packing, moving, unpacking, then packign SOME stuff again, and moving AGAIn a life for the next three weeks XD Plus I have to study for my placement exams :'DD

ToriKat 12-11-2009 01:52 AM

*hugs* Does that mean new arts to fill up your deviantART? *_*

*tugs at you for arts of you know who!!*

...Placement tests? Just to see where you are?

Tetsumiro 12-11-2009 01:54 AM

Hahahaha!! I have a little art, but most of it's for Puri's package >__> So I can't post it until she has it ! GUH I need to send it out.

I need to do arts fer you too D: I have something to send you from your b-day too... *horrible* I never send things out in time! xD

For math and English to see what classes I'll be in, same with Japanese. To see what level I am at ;3; I'm so rusty, I'm afraid I'll do so badly!

ToriKat 12-11-2009 01:58 AM

OOO I can't wait to see what you drew for her. ;D And meee...Mwhahaha!

...I'm terrible at doing anything on time. =_= Then again, thanks to my unit, with how they change things at the flip of the hat, I can never make plans. :/ When we were going to the gas chamber, they kept changing the formation times from 5am to 6am to finally 6:30am. And they were making calls at 3am. Thank goodness I don't have a cell phone, and I was at work...

How advanced is your Japanese?
