Rawr...Ugh im so hungry lately xD I keep eating. |
I'm TIRED. and I just ate cake!! how is that?!! that darn car ride I guess.
hey dimi and kai! |
...great... The damn "healthcare" bill passed... That's all I needed...
oh, it passed? I heard about it on the radio, but I don't know anything about it. I'm just not into politics. can't even vote after all.
What about the bill? whats it say well whats it about? |
@Kat: Yeah, well, neither could the rest of us peons. It was Congress and the Senate that voted on it, not the people.
@Kai: Basically it says that everybody has to get health insurance. If a person doesn't have health insurance, then they get fined something like $2500... Damned if you do, and damned if you don't... :XP |
well, I don't care about politics period because i can't vote period.
....I don't know if that's good or bad. I don't understand things like that. |
Well, I'll say this: I understand perfectly how they can fine a person for not getting insurance for their dependents. Like a parent refusing to get insurance for their children. What I don't understand is how they think they can fine a person for not getting health insurance for himself or herself. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Especially when it's so friggin' hard / expensive to get insurance in the first place, and wages aren't exactly what I'd call spectacular for the average person these days.
hm, I guess that makes sense. I don't really know why their doing this though I suppose they have something they thing they will accomplish with this bill thingie.
I don't know what it would be. Hell, it doesn't seem like anybody really knows what the bill says or means in the first place. But, it passed anyway.
oh...okay. I was listening kinda to a talk show and everyone called in saying how horrible the bill was except this one random guy. I didn't hear what he said.
Yeah, and that one random guy probably worked for some insurance company somewhere. :ninja:
haha! I don't think that was it because the talk show hosts seemed surprised by what he said! (I came in right after his call)
Mmm, it's hard to say. All I know is that I don't like the sound of this new bill. I think it's going to create many more problems than it's going to solve. If the government was really concerned with our (the people's) healthcare and whether or not we actually have any to begin with, they'd take a page out of Canada's book and give us a free healthcare program like Canada has. :stare:
I actually do agree with that. I've talked with my dad about other countries use of healthcare and such, although I remember some interesting cons to canada's healthcare, but i don't remember what they are. I think that may be the best way to go.
(time for another idiot moment) what the crap is healthcare anyways?!!! |
The only real cons of Canada's free healthcare plan, from the little that I know, is that the taxes on everything else is higher. Also, sometimes someone would need to wait a long time in order to get served or operated on. It really does balance itself out in the long run for nothing we get is free. I, myself, do not know much about the details concerning the new healthcare bill, but I'm not entirely optimistic about it either.
Healthcare includes everything from doctor / hospital visits all the way to the prescriptions / medications that you get to make you healthy again. Health insurance helps make those visits cheaper, but they can end up costing more than you'd originally pay in total doctor's bills in some cases, too (considering the cost for some health insurance). It's a catch-22, or a double-edged sword. It can help you or hurt you, depending on your situation.
--EDIT-- @Demoscout: Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't aware of the waiting list problem. I guess that's something to take into consideration, too. |
oh, I get it. I just didn't pay attention in my Economics class and fall asleep when the news is on. it makes sense though. sounds good to have, but expensive
yeah, that's what my dad said!! he said you really don't get help when you need it sometimes. |
@Kat: Mmm, but I rarely ever have to go to the doctors for anything. I think I've only been to the doctors once in the last 5 years. So health insurance is pretty much a waste for me (at least at this point in time). Now, with this new bill, I'll have to get health insurance for pretty much no reason whatsoever (in essence, wasting my money), or pay some big fine for not having health insurance in the first place.
ah, I see. I never go to the doctor, but I'm rather accident prone and some things run in my family so I know I'll end up with feet and knee problems. hell, I already have knee issues and I'm a kid!!
Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm invulnerable or anything like that. I know full well that I'll need to get health insurance at some point. I just don't really need it now. I'm still healthy as a horse. It'll probably be another 20 years before I really have to start worrying about health insurance.
I'm bored D: |
hm, I suppose so but I also believe that the worst happens when you're not ready for it. but I wouldn't want to be forced to get anything. that makes me not want it. and I forgot what else I was saying.....um. oh well, I don't have to worry about things like this now.
@Kai: Aww, I'm sorry. This new bill passing has just put me off a bit, ya know?
@Kat: Lucky you. Enjoy it while you can. Once they get their claws in ya, they don't wanna let go. :XP |
that's comforting. I like to claw people not have claws in me!!!! :gonk:
