Whoo! Got my pickup fixed! ...well, kinda. You know how when you're fixing something on a vehicle, you inevitably find something else wrong with it? Well, that's what is happening with me. I got all the ball joints replaced in the front end, only to find out that I apparently have a couple of tie rod ends going bad, and one of the U-joints on my front driveshaft (my pickup is a 4x4, so it has two driveshafts, front and rear) is really bad (about to fall apart). On top of that, my transfer case (the thing that distributes power from the transmission to both driveshafts) has a bad seal and was almost out of gear lube (same principal as trying to run a motor with no oil. ....not good). So I either need to rebuild the transfer case or get a new one to put in the pickup... I'm thinking about opting for the second option there. :sweat:

Yeah, tell me about it. The tie rods and the U-joint will be pretty cheap to buy and fix, thankfully. The transfer case, however... Well, buying a new one will cost roughly $1,000. Unless I can find a re-manufactured/rebuilt one. Then I might be able to get it fairly cheap. The only problem with that is that you have to trust that someone whom you don't know actually knew what they were doing when they did it. :sweat: |

Well, I was planning on doing an overhaul on the pickup anyway. I want to either change out the motor or upgrade the one I have, I want to put a stronger transmission in it, and I haven't quite decided on what I'm going to do with the front and rear axles yet. Adding the transfer case to the list isn't really a bad thing, but it's not something I was planning on doing so soon. I was going to get the parts I wanted a little at a time and then put it all together at once. But, it looks like I need to take care of the transfer case just to keep the pickup running until I can get the rest of the stuff and build it up the way I want to. :XP Anyway, I think I'm going to go watch a movie. I might be back online after that, but I'm not sure yet. |

I'm doing alright. It's been a long time since I've had some off time. I'm about to lose yet another off day coming up though. *long sigh* All because of the JCAHO inspection coming up in the first week of June...

I do. I want to put in leave, but again...I don't want to go home to 100+ degree temperatures in Texas. :/ The extremely humid 80 degrees here is already killing me. xD I don't want to waste my leave by just sitting in my room either. 8D

it actually hasn't hit the triple did gits this summer. at least where I've been today was the hottest and it was 93. I didn't find it too uncomfortable. I wasn't outside except when people came to clean our carpets and when I went to hobby lobby with my best friend.

That's about what they're getting where I'm from. If I'm to take leave, I have to put it in about two weeks in advance...so if I submitted it Monday, soonest I'd get to leave is mid June. Nah. Beginning of summer through the beginning of autumn, I'd rather not go. >_>;;
