lol...

I remember one time in high school...one of the guys was dorking around with some chemicals. I can't even remember now which ones - but it had something to do with sulphuric acid. The teacher came running up, said "no, no...that's wrong. You're going to hurt somebody" Then she made some changes and said "this is the way". With that, it blew up. Nobody got hurt, but it burned some holes in my brand new mohair sweater that I had just gotten.

Of course, she didn't offer to buy me a new sweater...

Thoth Star 01-27-2009 06:41 PM

Aww that sucks, Jeannesha. Was the teacher trying to make a mild explosion? XD
I remember in one of my chem classes we were studying just reactions so we were outside trying to make mini-explosions. It was hilarious how the teacher was like "Mix them..but DON"T mix that..." cuz he was always freaking out about someone getting hurt and than a lawsuit on his hands or something.

When I'm in chem lab I wear a pretty little labcoat. haha. I can't afford to ruin my few day clothes that I own....

Jeannesha 01-27-2009 06:44 PM

Yea...this was a small school. No lab coats or anything like that. I think the chemicals were at least as old as the teacher (ancient)!

My college chem class had over 600 people in it. The labs were a much smaller group...that's what made them nice.

Thoth Star 01-27-2009 07:01 PM

Its not good to keep some of those chemicals around for over a certain amount of yrs...
Than it begins to decay and you're more likely to have mishaps, like random explosions. XD

My gawd, 600 people. D: My Advanced Chem class only has 30 people in it....
Like 20 more people tried to add but the lab rooms are soooo small, the teacher was all like "Sorry that our Chem courses have been shrunken cuz of the economy....but you guys can't stay here becuz lab is dangerous..." I was sooo amazed that I got in!

Jeannesha 01-27-2009 07:04 PM

What other classes are you taking? I never went into advanced chem....lol...I had enough trouble with Into to Chem!

GrayNoodle 01-28-2009 12:12 AM

Whoa, that sounds awesome. o:
I've only taken physical science and biology as of now.. ._.
I want to double up, but then I'd be stuck with all the old people..
..and anyways, the teacher that every says is awesome (chemistry II and pre-cal teacher?) is retiring. :<
So is the only calculus teacher.
*sigh*
-goes off to do homework-

Dystopia 01-28-2009 01:16 AM

o3o I don't think I've ever had a class with over 40 people... I don't think I would like to be in a class of over that many students. The teacher wouldn't have time to answer our questions and we wouldn't be able to do more interactive sort of activities. We should be spending more money on getting more teachers and smaller classes. Not cutting the budget. :illgetu:

Thoth Star 01-28-2009 01:19 AM

Same here Anna... I've never been in a class over 40 people... but I go to a small college so thats really no surprise. XD

Rainbows 01-28-2009 01:24 AM

Adasdfk;lkjasdfl;

Anna's art -

I'm in a special class, with only 11 people.
>_>

Dystopia 01-28-2009 01:26 AM

@ Rain - Haha, you, too!? Everywhere I go, someone gives me a compliment! xD;

Thoth Star 01-28-2009 01:30 AM

I suppose thats good Rain cuz than the teacher can help you whenever you're confused....

Gahhh I'm sooo bored. D:

Rainbows 01-28-2009 01:41 AM

xD
Yeah, but it's only because I had an extended class. more days attended, but less time per day.

Anna, it's because it's so damn cute.

Thoth Star 01-28-2009 02:07 AM

Ohh I see Rain. Why would you want an extended class? =0
I can't handle being in school for over 8 hrs... My brain fries.

Muziek 01-28-2009 03:00 AM

Haha~ Because I'm In the Band, that's why!!

GrayNoodle 01-29-2009 10:20 PM

Darn.
I lost my 4.0
.-.
=.=

Rainbows 01-29-2009 11:23 PM

Aww.

:3
I think I'm at least up to a 3.0.

Lol.

>_>
I finished last quar. with a 2.8

LOL.

._.

Thoth Star 01-30-2009 12:59 AM

Mmm waffles.

OH no that sucks hardcore Noodle. D: *hugs* It'll be ok...
My last semester was really pathetic... I got a D, a C and a B.

Jeannesha 01-30-2009 07:12 PM

Man, I'm glad I don't have to worry about grades anymore.

Thoth Star 01-30-2009 07:21 PM

Lucky. D: This semester I NEED an A in Chemistry or I'm screwed....

GrayNoodle 01-30-2009 10:59 PM

Well, I can still go up to 3.97 if I get A's from now on until I graduate..
*sigh*

Chemistry.. I can't wait. :3
..I hear our chemistry teacher can't teach though. :<

Oh, and does anyone know what's up with anatomy?
..is it seriously just cutting up frogs and cats and chickens? 0-0

Thoth Star 01-31-2009 02:32 AM

You can do it Noodle! ^^ G'luck. I need to work towards many A's and B's too.
Aw that sucks... There's 4 different Chemistry teachers at our College... I just chose the one that only has 2 classes and he's been a chemist for 30 yrs cuz I had heard that he does great lectures...

I've taken Anatomy before... No, we didn't dissect any frogs, cats or chickens...
For the first 3 months we just studied and looked at microscopes... but than we had to dissect a cat for points and later a dead human. x------------x It was Grosss. Mind you this was Advanced college level anatomy... when I took anatomy in high school we only dissected frogs & squids. Lol.

Rainbows 02-01-2009 02:13 AM

My school gets pigs to dissect.
>_>

GrayNoodle 02-01-2009 07:39 PM

Whoa, dissecting squids? o:
Eww.. >.<
..and.. piggies.. ._.
DX

My cousin said they examined a corpse in senior year.
That was in biology two though.
..I'm not scared of taking that class yet, because he said they didn't actually cut him up or anything..
Phew..
My love for biology will not be killed so easily~!! > : D

Dystopia 02-01-2009 08:23 PM

I've dissected a squid and an eye of some sort in my past. It was actually kind of interesting. When we dissected the squid, we all got to use its ink to write our names on an index card. And the retina on the eye was really beautiful. *3*

I hear that we get a pig fetus to dissect sometime in our high school year. That ought to be interesting. It sounds a lot more complex than dissecting just an eye or a squid, for some reason.

Rainbows 02-01-2009 09:36 PM

Ah... The high school is right next to the university farm, which is huge, and we get fresh-dead animals... xD

I'm not going to be doing anything like that, though.. hrm
