Looking for some opinions

  • I'm simply wanting some opions on some pencil art I did.
    I don't have a tablet at the moment, and have been wanting to try my hand at art on here; as a means to help make golds for my quest. P:
    Anyway, I'd like some input, such as if you'd buy something like this, and if so how much you'd pay for it on here. (not sure about prices)
    Or if not, why, and what you think I could do to improve it. (aside from adding color)
    I realize that colored pictures are always more desirable, but my scanner doesn't handle colors well, and I can't CG them...D:
    I'll have more examples for people to critique later; right now I'm a little too tired to draw, or mess with my scanner. xP

    Yes, it's supposed to be a Chibi, or at least slightly so...; 3;
    Was having a block when it came to the head...which normally never happens to me. (D:)
    So...her eyes are closed, and there's a scarf covering her mouth. > 3<;
    -admits to this little corner cutter, for now-
    Usually, I only have problems with chest size. > 3>;
    -tends to make top heavy Chibis-

It's super cute! You could probably sell them for 75-150g. I'd suggest darkening up the lines a bit or inking them. Even if you can't color them, nice crisp lines are always a plus.

I don't really see anything that needs a critique ^^" and maybe, do you think you can do some B&W shading on it? That way I think the pic will be cuter without the need to bother with scanner that kills colors(mine does that too, sadly) or CGing and the price can start from 100g. :)

I love the pose. It looks so.. sassy. The only thing I have to say critique wise, is I'd really like to see it in color. ..>>; though thats not really a critique thing, I just think it'd be really cute. lol and If I had clothes, I'd defiantly want art like that of my avvy. ^^

  • The lines are a bit dark, on the original pic, but after lightening the contrast to lose smudges and eraser marks...
    -pokes it.-
    I'm trying to convince my mom to buy me a tablet for my 21st birthday, coming up in July.
    At which point, the art will be much brighter; colors! O: xP <3

That is really good. The proportion for the chibi is very very good and the pose itself shows thought and not just random. I like the line art as well. It would look cute colored. :)

Totally cute! Really, It's adorable!

It's really cute. I like the way you make your details. I think if you shaded it would look nice. Since your scanner can't handle colors why not try just shading. :3 I have some amazing avi art from someone who couldn't color but once they shaded it made their art look amazing. :3 So, yeah.. try that? As far as pricing goes I'm not very good at it, I tend to price on the low low end, so I'd say that's worth anywhere from 50-200 gold (Yeah, that's a really wide spread, sorry .___.;; ) Good Luck. :]

I know what you mean when you say that line art doesn't get as much attention as colored art and understand how it feels to not have the means or the skill to CG. *raises hand* Because that's usually me as well. However, my art teacher pushed me into watercoloring this year. Becoming skilled at watercoloring is almost as impressive as CGing, but takes a lot less effort. It's not the easiest thing in the world, but try it. Maybe you'll like the effect it adds to your art, too. I've learned to looooooove watercolors~

(( Sorry to say, there's still no cure for scanner rape of colors. v_v ))

Kirachi 06-27-2007 11:20 PM

Mmm. All I can say is to darken the lines, just raise the contrast a bit. =3

And the colouring part.

Even a bit of cute pastel flat colouring in Photoshop will make it much better

Rhythm 06-27-2007 11:26 PM

aww~ that's super cute. <3

I think that looks awsome, the chest size seems fine, I really like the shoes for some reason. X'D

I'm new here, so I can't advice you in monetary terms.

I can tell you that the drawing is very cute, you put a lot of detail and your pencil lines are neat. The pose is great too!

If you're going to sell art, I recommend you to ink your pictures, it gives a nice plus =3

And I have a question, you can't color because your scanner is evil or because you don't have a tablet? o_O I didn't have a tablet back then when I started to cg color, but I think I managed pretty well with my dear ol' mouse. I colored this entirely with mouse, for instance http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/30951028/

I think is possible to color with mouse, it just takes time to learn (and it will also take time to learn how to use the tablet xD''). Just give it a try!

I'm crud at critiquing too. D:

But that is so pudgey and cute. >3<
