The chorus in Girls and Boys by Blur.

When I look it up I see:
Girls who are boys
Who like boys to be girls
Who do boys like they're girls
Who do girls like they're boys
Always should be someone you really love

But I think it's:
Girls who want boys
Who like boys to do girls
Who do boys like their girls
Who do girls like their boys
Always should be someone you really love.

I dunno, I think it sounds better than the first version. Because that means that they're talking about girls who want bisexual boys which might mean that Damon Albarn is bisexual with Graham Leslie Coxon!

I don't know if anyone here knows Blur but alright.

I have convinced my son that in the song "Sex Bomb" by Lords of Acid they are actually saying "Steak Sauce" and that she is really excited about BBQ. LOL!

He'll be really upset with me later in life when he finds out the truth...for now though he is only 8 so it doesn't matter.

  • I remember when I was younger, I loved Bon Jovi. Favorite artist when I was about 12. However, in the songs mostly "Have a Nice Day", I couldn't really understand the lyrics too well. I also had misunderstandings with AC-DC songs because I got so confused on the lyrics and words.

It wasn't so much mis hearing the lyrics but my brother used to think the line Cry me a river in the song Cry me a river sounded like 'I need a river'

^^;;

Turns out when I wanted to find out the lyrics and only knew that line, it was really hard. xD It lead me to a misheard lyric page. The real lyrics were

"She's fine too but I want you"

xDDD

Ahahaahhaaah...

It would be really awkward if someone said that in real life and you misheard it...

Wow, that's confusing.

I wonder how people could sing along to that, though!

Oh I definately had, but it doesn't really bother me. Usually whenever if I hear a song and I dont 'know the lyrics I'll just make them up anyway

IRK3N 07-17-2007 12:57 AM

I've mistaken many, many lyrics, especially jrock ones.

But the one that my friends won't let me forget is mistakening:

""Blue and die"

//with//

"Boom I'll strike" (Aoi Tsuki - Dir en grey)

>_>

El DJ 07-17-2007 01:26 AM

Remember that commercial with "Rock the Casbah" in it?
I did the exact same thing >_________>

Hidari 07-20-2007 10:13 PM

Oh, that happens to me alll the time. My friend thought that the opening of Kingdom Hearts was singing about Mormons.

Well, personally, the first time I heard The Gap by You say Party! We say Die! I thought they were saying 'The Gap, The Gap, The Cap, The Cap, Between the rich and the port', which is, obviously, totally wrong. XD

Dakota Wolf 07-20-2007 11:47 PM

In Disturbed's song "Stupify" I thought that the lyrics went "All I needed was just one rock" but they actually went "All I needed was just one fuck" I thought it was funny how they made the words "Rock" and "Fuck" sound so similar.

Alishar 07-21-2007 12:01 AM

In the Beck Song, 'Loser', the chorus goes like this:

Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me.

But I never ever understood that he was saying "soy un perdedor" (which is Spanish for "I'm a loser")...

So all these years I woundered what he was saying, haha.

Ancasta 07-21-2007 02:54 AM

I mis-hear lyrics all the time. My latest was when I was listening to Iron & Wine's song Jezebel. Part of the chorus says "Only Jezebel," which I heard as "Holy Jezebel." I still think my version is cooler.

The weirdest one isn't mine though; When my cousin Dana was a child, she and my aunt were watching the Twilight Zone, and Dana starts singing "Mean and evil, mean and evil." My aunt asks her why she's doing that, and Dana says that its what the voices in the theme song are singing. The Twilight Zone theme song is an instrumental. My aunt turned off the T.V. and to this day will not watch that show.

felisfelidae 07-21-2007 04:13 AM

I almost never hear lyrics properly. As a result, I generally don't consider lyrics when deciding if I like a song, and I don't care what language it's in, since I'd be barely able to tell the difference anyways.

mangacatgirl 07-21-2007 05:03 PM

The first few times I heard Gorillaz song "Clint Eastwood" I thought the line "I've got Sunshine in a Bag" was "I've Got Such an Inner Fag" >.>;

Aurilia 07-21-2007 09:58 PM

Oooh Missherd Lyrricks!

According to friends and hubby, I am the queen of misheard stuff. XD

One thing I remember off hand is a line by the Pet Shop Boys which goes: "Pavarotti in the dark".
I hear: "Have erotic in the park!".

It happens to me all the time, I think I hear what I want to hear.

Aurilia 07-25-2007 10:01 AM

Just thought of another one! (not double-posting, just raising the thread from the dead XP)

Bob Marley - Jamming!

Original: I'm jammin', Jammin! ...

I hear: Pyjamas! Pyjamas! I hope you like Pyjamas too!

every single time, I swear!

Karine 10-11-2007 10:04 PM

i always mess up the lyrics. xD
For example, for the longest time, i was confused by Nelly Furtado's song Try. And in one line, Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me, i thought she said Watching instead of wanting. xDDDDDD

Quote:

Original:
All I know
Is everything is not as it's sold
but the more I grow the less I know
And I have lived so many lives
Though I'm not old
And the more I see, the less I grow
The fewer the seeds the more I sow
My Version:
All i nose
Is everything is not as it's sow
but the more i sow the less i sow
and i have live so many hives
though i'm not cold
And the more I see, the less I grow
The fewer the seeds the more I sow

Psyduck 10-12-2007 05:00 AM

Nowhere near recent, but I'm sure nearly everyone has at least once mistaken the lyrics to The Corrs' "Breathless".

.Butter.Scotch. 10-12-2007 05:54 AM

Lol at Psyduck.

Kurai Amaya 10-13-2007 02:13 AM

There's so many. I can't think of any for me right now.

But yesterday, I was hanging around with my group of friends at school. Thomas had his huge iPod out and was listening to... Backstreet Boys. We were all singing along. "Backstreet's back... ALRIGHT!" Well... instead of ALRIGHT!, my friend, Karley, had apparently always thought the lyrics went, "Backstreet's back... ON ICE!"
We nearly died laughing.
