Your First Gaming Experience

So, what was your first console/game? And what was it like?

I was never involved in the really old systems, I think I came in around the time the first Playstation came out. My next door neighbor had one, and I remember we would play Tomb Raider (never getting past that level with the tigers) and Tekken, I think. So for Christmas I got my very own Playstation, and my first game was Spyro the Dragon. My dad and I spent like two hours trying to get the thing to work before we realized we weren't pushing the disc down properly, hurr. :B

Ah , the good old days
*daydreams....*
huh?oh yeah ^^;;
But I use to have a NES and me and my sister would use to play Mario , but we weren't very good ^^;; I always loved the frogger suit XD

Super Mario Bros. on the NES was the first game I ever played, but Super Mario Bros. 3 was the first game I ever owned, followed by The Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventure.

The NES.

I have no idea how we ended up getting one, but, that's probaly because I was too young to remember at the time... I was maybe around five or six when I started watching my brothers playing it, and I would always sit there and watch them... We later found out that you could rent NES games at the libary, so I rented this one game where you had to save kitties from trees. xD I was never very good at Mario, so, I just watched my bothers play it, along with an airplane game, soccer, and Kirby.

They're the ones that got me into video games in the first place. I owe them big time for that. >w<

Hmmm....

I have to say it was mario xD

My first gaming experience was Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt Combo on the very first Nintendo system. I can't remember much about it but I know that it has stuck with me to this very day and i grin all over whenever I hear the Mario Bros. tune start up.

The first game console I had was that really old black and white gameboy. My mom got it for free because she was working at my school and it was in the lost and found and they didn't know what to do with it. And I got a Rugrats game for it.

My first gaming experience was on the way old TI 99/4 Computer. It was the kind of thing that hooked into this box that hooked up to the knobs on the back of those really old TVs. And the keyboard and a slot for a game cartridge. Hee hee...look at this thing...it's a dinosaur! And it's hilarious to read the specs on it!

I remember playing TI Invaders (Space Invaders) on it. And Hopper, Q-Bert, Burger Time, things like that. I didn't actually get my first gaming console until 1999, so while everyone around me had Nintendos and stuff, I was doing the computer game thing.

My first gaming experience was like 10 years ago I'm guessin when my bro got both the red and blue pokemon games and well I guess it really bothered him when I would keep watching him play because I would get in the way so he finally just gave me his old gameboy ( the very first one with the green screen) and let me pick which game of his I wanted and I chose blue ^^. Whenever he would check out my game he would always find something wrong I did and make me start over. Then he got me pokemon yellow and tamagotchi for my birthday.

Atari

For as long as I remember, we've had a fully-functional Atari in our basement, it several boxes full of games. I grew up on 'Picnic' and 'Pigs in Space,' 'ET' and 'Toobin'. Those ere the good ol days.

  • I'm pretty sure it was that Duck Hunt/Mario Bro's game, I used to play it all of the time at a friends house <3

My very first game that I actually owned and beat was LoZ:OoT though, and it's still one of my favourites to this day~!

Evilconqueso 06-24-2007 09:59 AM

First experience had to be playing SMB and LoZ on the old NES belonging to one of my first babysitters, when I was 3. Never GOT especially far in them, but I knew I was hooked from the start.

Then a few years later Sonic the Hedgehog came out, and I found a new OMFG love. Wound up getting a Genesis with Sonic 2 when I was 7, and it's been history ever since.

Ahhh, the money that's been spent on my consoles and titles. Quite scary/awesome to see everything I have laid out in one spot. :3

My first gaming experience? Ah, that must've been my old Commodore 64 when I was like 6 or so. XD I had a lot of cassettes with games, but I especially liked to play Battleship with my dad. =D

Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mario 64

Best games ever made in my opinion <3

tragichare 06-24-2007 09:47 PM

the NES.
it was my brother's, so he wouldn't let me play it.
but i would sneak in to his room and play mario and duck hunt when he wasn't around.
then came the SNES, and finally the N64.

it wasn't until the PSX that i became a real gamer, though.
i got my own, so i didn't have to use my brother's.

i think one of the first games i ever played on it was spyro the dragon, and the first RPG was azure dreams.

Shandriz 06-24-2007 10:05 PM

For consoles, I was almost definitely one of the Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt peoples. I remember playing like, Biker Mice From Mars and Zelda and stuff around the same era. XD NES/SNES was awesome.

I started computer stuff with like, Reader Rabbit and all. We were in on the computer thing really early.

Lehila 06-26-2007 07:28 AM

nes and atari, ftw D: and playstation, duh.

games like dizzy, super mario, tekken :twisted: oh it was so long ago ^^;

Kooky 06-27-2007 07:58 AM

when i was 2 i played my first video game... Megaman X xD i was able to beat the entire game when i was 4 xD

Morien 06-27-2007 05:13 PM

The very first one was a game called Midnight Rescue that I played on the computer.

Then, I enjoyed Donkey Kong on the Super Nintendo. But I couldn't get very far, so ... yeah. I stopped playing.

And then what really got me more interested in games in general was Sakura Wars on the Dreamcast. Mostly because it was more strategy than anything else.

Zweres 06-27-2007 06:21 PM

When I first got my first video game, it was a Nintendo 64 ~ back then, they were really popular. I remember going to my cousins house (video game addict o.o) where we always played Tekken and Duck Hunt, I thought Duck Hunt was so much fun because of the little shotter thing. The next big thing was Mario 64 for me, I was so into that game I played it for like a hour every day XD. The funnest game on the N64 and my favorite, was SSMB, it was so interesting and got me into games.

`Mel 07-06-2007 12:42 PM

I first played PS:One With Crash Bandacoot, which I never beat XD It didn't use a memory card so you had to remember the code, which was symbols like Square, sqiggle XD

Sassandra 07-08-2007 03:49 PM

my first experience...

Final Fantasy 2 on the original SNES. Still playing it for memories sake. that was followed closely by Zelda and Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES. Old school is great...

Tsukiko 08-22-2007 04:45 AM

My first console: (sound's like something a toddler should have O_o "My first console get in stores now! the safe for all ages video game console!" )
A Game Boy Color

First Game:
Pokemon Special Pikachu edition

Alegretto 08-22-2007 05:27 AM

SimAnt on the PC. My dad used to have some awesome games on his computer, and at the tender age of 2, he corrupted me to SimAnt and his ridiculously awesome but hard Dracula game.

... I want that old Dracula game. He could never beat Dracula in the end. And it was one of those games where you typed what your character said, so with my terrible 2-year old spelling, no one understood what I was trying to make the main guy say. It was awesome.

i personally rarely buy game consols... actually all the ones i have are gifts when the price has lowered to like $100 or so. for example, i got the nes when PS was about to come out... and i got PS when PS2 came out... and i got PS2 when PS3 was coming out. lol.
but then in my family, my cousin was really into games. so when i was a kid, there were already nintendo, sega genesis, sega saturn at home. XD
i remember shooting ducks for the nintendo. XD
and for sega genesis, i was obsessed with streets of rage. i loved playing the female character... tho i forgot her name now. XD
then came the sega saturn which came out with my all time favorite game: lunar: the silver star. there's a remake of it for the PS, but i still love the original one more.... to the point that i'm tempted to buy the original game even tho i don't have a sega saturn. XD
