I try always to be nice to the sales clerks/cashiers. <3 Everyone who works, really. One nice person can make a difference.
Hope you get to be behind the cash register on Thursday. ^-^

Sade is missed and luffled and uber-fabulous! ;-;

Red Calypso 04-21-2008 11:56 PM

AAHH! Reiyuka, NO! Me no WANT to be behind the cash register! Me wants to spend at least part of the day sitting down at the baby shower registry desk! I will say this. I've noticed that if I sit down even for a little bit it relieves the pain and I can get up and move around again. So if I alternate behind the desk and maybe helping out behind the cash register or out on the floor, I should be all right. And maybe I can build up some endurance again.

ReiyukaE 04-22-2008 05:13 PM

:goes oh: -That- desk, I see. XD My bad.

Bilbo 04-22-2008 05:17 PM

Having done the cashiering thing, and having a mom in retail, I try everything I can to be nice to them. Unfortunately, there are too many times when it's the person is so jaded or mean or stupid that it's hard to maintain civility.

Red Calypso 04-22-2008 05:28 PM

*nods* I can understand that. The cashiers at Toys R Us don't seem like that though.

ReiyukaE 04-22-2008 05:31 PM

I think, because you're working in a toystore, jading will happen a lot less. Or I would hope so. Kids need to be greeted by a fun looking cashier.

Bilbo 04-22-2008 05:43 PM

That's good to hear about the cashiers at Toys R Us--I would imagine they would be a generally happier lot than most. But I am so rarely in there...I am more familiar with the cashiers at grocery and retail stores.

Red Calypso 04-22-2008 05:58 PM

It does seem that way so far. And of course when I'm more comfortable with greeting and procedure and such I won't be so nervous and tightly-wound. I'll be a lot more friendly-seeming then.

Leela 04-22-2008 06:25 PM

I try to be nice to eveyone, but I wont buy protection plans, lol sorry! I will contribute to Autism however. :)
My oldest daughter has a mild type of Autism.

Red Calypso 04-22-2008 07:21 PM

*nods* I've seen that ad that mentions how utterly widespread autism really is. I think it's a worthwhile cause. The reason I mentioned the things I did is because the cashiers are pushed really hard to sell them and the management tends to get snarky about it, from what I've seen in only two part-time days.

Leela 04-23-2008 02:22 PM

ah that's too bad. I mean, people get turned off by pushing things like protection plans. We spend enough as it is on things like that. I feel badly for the sales clerks having to push it.

Bilbo 04-23-2008 02:36 PM

I feel badly too--I remember when I was working for Papa Gino's (a pizza chain in the Northeast), we were supposed to push our meal deals and things like that. I HATED doing it, so simply mentioned it and took the customer's refusal at face value.

Sade le Aviva 04-25-2008 12:12 PM

Wohoo, I am here .. we are here :D

How is everyone?

Red Calypso 04-25-2008 03:35 PM

I know what you mean. It feels so...wrong. "Hi! Do you need any batteries today? Would you like to contribute a dollar or more for autism? Would you like to apply for our Rewards card?" I'd much rather just say, hi did you find everything you were looking for and then check them out.

Leela 04-26-2008 01:28 AM

yes and honestly, people don't like that pushiness from stores.

Sade! *hugs*

ReiyukaE 04-26-2008 04:46 AM

Hi Sade, honey! Been busy with the transfer? <3 It's looking nice, I think! Can't wait until the little bugs and such are fixed.

I worked for a telemarketing company in October (I think I told you this already, no?) and that pushiness was exactly what made me dislike it. I mean... I can't believe people are actually fond of doing such things. (And trust me, some are.) It seems weird to me to try and make people get something they don't particularly want. But oh well.

Sade le Aviva 04-26-2008 08:56 AM

Good morning everyone ^^

Just a quick stop, I have a lot to do .. in RL too >_> I'll be back later <3

Leela 04-26-2008 06:42 PM

Hiya Sade! Ok, talk to you soon! :D

Red Calypso 04-27-2008 06:49 PM

*nods* It's a lot more fun out working the floor, when you help people find the things they're specifically looking for. For that matter, I like putting things back in order and where they belong.

Leela 04-27-2008 08:20 PM

can you ask for that Red?

ReiyukaE 04-28-2008 08:37 PM

That'd be fun! In a clothing store that is certainly necessary, but in a toys store...?

Sade le Aviva 05-01-2008 05:24 PM

Oookay, I think I'm ready to be back xP

I'm feeling much better, not so fluish anymore yay! :D

*hugs to my friends*

Leela 05-01-2008 05:35 PM

Hi Sade! Welcome back! You look so nice too! <3

Sade le Aviva 05-01-2008 05:42 PM

Hi Leela, and thank you! <3

How have you been?

Leela 05-01-2008 05:49 PM
