Foie Gras

I know it's duck liver. I do NOT want to know ANY more about it. It sounds disgusting enough. xP
|
I'd never ever eat Foie Gras in my life.
From seeing the way the ducks are treated to produce this 'delicacy' - it's enough to put anyone off. Apparently, force feeding through a tube and stuffing the ducks up to the brink of suffocation is the best way to maximize flavor, quality and taste. I saw some pretty shocking footage on the television as well. So no, I wouldn't look twice at it - however delicious it might be - I have certain morals. Marissa, I'm going to have to make you put some warning against the video of the force feeding, people can be very sensitive to material and things like that - so a forewarning as to the severity of what they are about to watch would probably be best, instead of upsetting users. EDIT: I have added a warning. |
Good. =]
><; I hate the taste of liver anyway. Glad about that. |
I couldn't watch the entire thing. It's too sick. I've eaten that stuff before once, but had I known about how it was prepared, Id've left it alone.
|
I'm debating on watching it or not. There was once a link (in regards to a petition to stop animal cruelty, mind) to some artistic portrayal which had a kitten thrown down into the water to drown. It was in another language, so I couldn't begin to tell you what it was about, but it was obviously a "deep symbolic artistic piece of work".
It made me a wee bit ill. Anyway... I hear that the Kentucky Fried Chicken chains don't treat their chickens much better, but don't take my word for gold. :/ |
I haven't watched the video, though I'm well aware of what foie gras is.
I haven't ever tried it, but if I ever prepare beef wellington I think I'll substitute something else for the goose liver layer. |

Ah well. I figured just confronting is the best way to deal with it. D= The shock would make a lot of peopel vegetarians. |

Don't worry, it can still be used as part of your discussion here, it is to your discretion to remove the link - but I think it should be to the persons discretion to review it. I, however, have added forewarning to avoid any upset and reports it might have caused. No problems caused. |
Well, I did indeed watch most of it. I was expecting worse, but that was pretty bad. :/
I think the same could be said for a lot of animals. Especially the beef industry (at least in the US; I won't claim to know how it works in other countries). |
I'm not a vegetarian, so I don't feel that I can really complain about animal abuse in animals that are breed for food.
I find it strange that people make such a fuss about animals being treated badly when they're going to end up on a plate anyway. "Hello Little Chickie, we'll be nice to you and take care of you and love you and then... then we'll chop you into little pieces and EAT YOU!" ...but that's okay, because we treated you well before we killed you :D Maybe it's just me, but that seems ...erm... "odd" to me. Sure it's cruel, but so's eating something you've raised and cared for. But they taste good so we (non vegetarians) eat them. Anyhow, I recently read something about Foie Gras causing some kind of sickness in people, so I guess the chicks get their revenge eventually. |
It makes sense that Foie Gras makes people sick. If the livers (or the ducks) are diseased... blech. I don't care what the FDA or any other organization says; it's just not healthy.
And besides, the liver filters out waste, and eating any of it goes straight into you. (I am guilty of eating beef liver once in a VERY great while.) Anything you eat does. |

Their entire life consists of becoming fat so we, humans -the worst creatures on this fucked up planet- can eat them. That's just wrong. If they would have been paralyzed or something from the beginning it wouldn't be so bad. Because they wouldn't feel it. DO you have pets? or a younger brother or sister? Imagine that pet or sibling being raised like that. ><; |

i thought you were talking about the leaf thing on the plate, from the title. XD lol
yeah, i dont want to watch it. o.o |
Ugh, we serve foie gras at work.
I kind of feel like I should drop the hint to people that the foie gras isn't very good after watching this video. :p ... the last part really sicked me out. The rest is... bad. But the last part is chilling. |

Mesic: You should. :p |
I clicked it and lasted only a few seconds before I got sick and wanted to strangle one of the people. x.x
|
I'll casually drop the hint: "The ahi tuna is good, but the foie gras? I personally thought it tasted a bit too like murder. Oh, and the sauce is heavy."
|
Nice, Mesic. o-o
|
ugggh .__.
*decides never to try foie gras after watching that video* |
I know how it's made and all that, but honestly, it doesn't change the fact that it tastes DELICIOUS!
|
x.x I'd become a veggie-eater, if not for the fact that veggies taste horrible in my opinion and... >.> Well. Hamburgers are so. Alluring. *grumble*
