That would be my general thing. It's just, I don't think I ever heard of those two in particular doing anything with their art. Mr. Loomis was in the graphic design field, more specifically typography. He ran a shop that would make signs and things. His precision and attention to detail was perfect for it.

But Lawrence and the other.. nothing. =/ It really makes me sad to think about it, now, actually. As an "illustrator" I realize that there is absolutely no reason that you can't do it all. If you work at it and build up different kinds of portfolios, have at it. There's no reason they couldn't have done freelance while teaching, too. Maybe they did.. dunno.

But man, Navi, you've got more guts that me to teach high school kids. Thinking back on it, all my classes were as obnoxious as hell. I'd be so frustrated with the kids in the class who are just there thinking it's an easy grade and don't care about it at all x.X;

Jitsumi1221 03-30-2008 12:50 AM

hahah see im ok with being a teacher so long as its something i love. and it would be awesome to possibly have that kinda influence over those little childrens mind *laughs manically while rubbing hands together* but maybe im just doing the "through rose colored glasses" thing cause i tend to be overly optomistic about everything.

oh! believe me Ise, i didnt want ANY kids. im the most impatient person ever and according to my husband "have the attention span of a gnat". so.. even though i didnt WANT to be a mother, now that its happened you gotta kinda "roll with the punches" *nods* and i mean its not all bad, like i love when my little boy runs up to me when i get home from work and hugs my knees while saying MAAAUUUMMMM!

*giggles* muhahaha yeah i was trying not to smirk.. because she wasnt particularly nice to me in HS >.>; needless to say i wasnt in the "cool group" lol cause i was nice to the underclassman and usually had a group of wierd little freshies following me around asking for help or something. they were like my little pet sheeple <3

urgh and i can understand your feeling on the students that would be there just for the easy grade.. but then there was alsways a few people in each class that were really interested and would latch onto every word trying to learn more. that would be worth it.

Navi 03-30-2008 01:11 AM

It's hard and I've had numerous break-downs. I don't think I would want to start off at the high school level; there are a lot of punks and assholes you have to deal with and so far the good students haven't outweighed all the shit you have to go through with the bad ones. The best time I've had so far was last night when my mentor teacher and I stayed after to throw a bunch of pottery and 3 students stayed after and hung out with us as we listened to a bunch of Beatles songs. THAT was fun. And it makes me want to get into ceramics more because I made a huge bowl and a couple of vases.

Granted, it's getting easier as I'm there a little longer (it's been 3 months now, and 3 weeks left to go). We'll see what happens afterwards.

I don't think I want kids, I think I'm too selfish for that *is a horrible person* but at this time in my life I want to do what I want - I want to try to make a graphic novel and publish it (and fall flat on my face, but at least I don't have to worry about supporting anyone but myself and my husband, but he works too). Augh, now I feel like I'm just rambling. ^_^

Jitsumi1221 03-30-2008 01:25 AM

hahah rambling can be nice ^^ and erm, well i was rather like that as well, i mean having kiddos at my age is a bit stupid (and dont i know it) cause i just turned 22 a few months ago and im already on my second kid. so this seriously seriously threw some of my dreams into either obblivion or shoved them onto a back burner. But at the same time, i love my little family and i really cant see it being any different?

i mean hell, if i didnt have kids i probably wouldnt be married to my husband (we were going through a realy rough patch when i found out i was preggers with Ren). and if that had happened i probably would have changed uni's to my first choice since i had gotten a scholarship to it as well as erm.. well i would have loved to do foreign exchange. i love traveling.

Navi 03-30-2008 01:34 AM

That's true, I believe everything happens for a reason. I moved from MN to Maine to be with my husband (boyfriend at the time) and started working at Sam's Club where I met Liz and we grew together as artists and had a lot of good experiences together and got discovered by putting ourselves out in the art world (in a sorta weird way, through a convention) so, if I never would have moved, who knows what could have happened. Maybe it would have been better but so far in my life I wouldn't change anything. =] So I know how you feel, in that respect.

Ise 03-30-2008 01:45 AM

:snuggles Navi: I hope things stay well for you, luff. Try not to let the asshats get to you, too much. Though that's much, much easier said than done. u-u; I was one of the art room rats all through high school, always there when I had spare time. I hung out with the teachers and pretty much soaked up what I could, though I gave my fair share of shit to them when I disagreed with something they were trying to get me to do. To this day I use white as a color xDDD Oh, Camine hated that so much.

And rambling is good sometimes =3 Everyone needs to randomly spill things on their mind or how they feel. I think we'd explode if we didn't oo;

Jitsu: True. You remind me a wee bit of my parents. I was born when they were both barely 19. There were lots and lots of issues between then as I grew up, and many times they weren't even living together. Though honestly I spent so much time with dad (lived with mom) that I can't really remember it that way. I'm sure some things must have been put in the way side because I was born. Still, no reason not to still go after things little by little, no? =3

Navi 03-30-2008 01:54 AM

Dude, time to relive youth! I'm SO going to watch Pocahontas and The Little Mermaid. XDDD

Croon 03-30-2008 01:59 AM

Jitsumi1221 03-30-2008 02:01 AM

hahah i think my dreams of traveling are better left for dead. i wouldnt mind just staying in the states and exploring the national parks and stuff here. There is a chance i might be moving from texas to Wisconsin here soon and im really excited about that because i grew up all over south america (Brazil, Argentina, Peru) so all the places i lived were rather tropical.. and then texas is hot like all those places just not the same kinda heat. But i've never lived anywhere with snow, and apparently its really green up there and lots of lakes and such. so.. im stoked.

that and i figure i grew up traveling all over the world.. i've been to nearly all the countries in south america, quite a few in central, and parts of europe.. so ive gone more places then most people get to, so i should be happy with that.

hell if Green Bay has any near by places where i can ride horses, i will be uber content.. i miss riding so much and the city im in now all the stables have closed to move out further into the country.

*nods* i found out i was preggers on my 19th birthday. *snort* i thought i had food poisoning... and my husband had just turned 19 4 months before the baby was born. young n stupid.. but myeh.

Ise 03-30-2008 02:14 AM

Lol, I absolutely cannot stand humid heat. When I visit family in Texas there are only two seasons: hot and hotter. And then I wait for the blessed relief of a big arse thunderstorm. It's lovely while it hits, but does it cool things down like it shoulder after? Noooo~ D8 It only makes it worse.

I've lived in NY all my life, and I'm fond of the whole four distinct seasons, as much as I positively detest cold weather xD; I only like snow around Christmas. After New Years it can go away for all I care. Autumn at home is absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite times of year. The trees look so gorgeous when the leaves change <3333

Jitsumi1221 03-30-2008 03:01 AM

hahaha yeah texas is pretty hot and we do get storms that just pop up out of no where that are really nasty but dissappear just as randomly as they appeared making it hot and then humid as well. *snorts* but its the only state i've ever lived in so its home for now. i visited seattle a few times and REALLY loved how green it was.. and didnt mind the wierd misty rainfall every day.. its just the job hubby might get is in wisconsin. i have friends in illinois and michigan though, so could be interesting.
