Making the Dance Pad not move... -_-

Whenever I'm playing DDR, the Dance Pad always seems to move just enough so that my feet miss the right arrows. I've looked on the internet on how to fix this problem, but to no avail... I've tried putting books down on the corners, but then they just get in the way of my feet.

Does anyone have any good tips on how to make it stay down in one place and not move?

That happens to me a lot, too.
If you have tile or a hardwood floor, try putting the dance pad on that.
I have not tried that yet, but the dance pad I have has a grip on the bottom that may cling to the tile or hardwood floors.

Make sure to buy the heavy pad.
It moves less and has more track on the bottom.

Also, it's best to play it on the rug and not wooden floor.

It is best to play it on carpet? Why?
It just moves a lot more than when I put it on the tile.
A friend and I usually place the dance pads on her tile floor and it seems fine, though it still moves a little.

Are the heavy pads more expensive?
I thought they would be difficult to bring out and put away.

I think it depends on what mat you use with what floor.

Like, there are the really light mats that wrinkle and move around a lot.
Then there are the heavier ones.
I don't mean the metal ones, I mean the plastic ones that are made thicker and heavier.
You can still fold it up and put it in a closet or whatever, so I don't think it would be a big deal to put it away and take it out.

And for it being more expensive, I'm not sure, but it might be slightly more expensive.
But not enough to kill you.

Okay, thank you!
Yeah, I have the crinkly ones that come with the game when bought in a box. I asked about the heavier ones being versitile(sp?) because I have only been able to find the metal ones that do not fold up. Perhaps I shall look for one of those foldable plastic ones on Amazon.com when I get around to it.
Again, thank you!

Well we have carpets, so on our dance mat i put velcro strips. It helps a lot! When I play at my friends place she has hardwood floors, and her dance mat is thicker plastic and a bit sticky on the bottom so it clings. I would suggest the velcro if you're on a carpet ^^

I have the soft pad which I duck tape to the floor, it still moves but not as much. My fiance however has a metal pad, it moves when he plays hard songs. There isn't much we can do except have someone sit behind it and hold the pad with their feet. That usually works but isn't much fun for the person holding the pad down.

After slipping around like mad on the carpet and trying everything from duct taping it to setting a 50lb stalactite on it (you heard me), I've concluded that the only means by which to keep a dance mat in place is to hammer stakes into all four corners. Stakes which extend no less than past the mantle of the earth's core. But even then, heavy mode? Probably gonna move some. T-T

I do have a tile floor and a hardwood floor. My dance pad moves on BOTH. In high school, we had a DDR competition from my old Anime Club (of course, I'm not in it anymore since I graduated and I haven't been part of it for 2 years anyway) and we just duct-taped the dance pads to the ground (except this was on concrete but I tried masking tape at home so it should work).
