Easy Recipes for Dummies
Since my mom went to work about two months ago, I've been cooking breakfast and dinner [we eat a late breakfast, an early dinner and an evening snack instead of lunch.] So now, I'm always on the lookout for simple recipes that I can whip up that day for dinner. And the problem I keep running across is not having the right ingredients.
Sooo... Do any of guys know some great, easy recipes that use mostly everyday food items? Any kind of meat or pasta or such is alright, but I mean like... nothing that requires eggplant, or whipping cream, or anything else funky like that xD And I'll post a few in a bit myself ^^' |
Ramen. Just buy some and stuff it into the pot, following the instructions, and wait. Or better yet, just get some of that cheap instant ramen, which tastes about the same.
o_O; Trust me, if I can cook this stuff without endangering my life, so can you. |
Microwavable dinners. But if you like to cook then just going out and buying noodles, all you do really is put it in boiling water and wait for it to be soft, then add tomato sauce or some spice.
|
My family's been pretty much living on pasta and rice and potatoes since I started cooking, so I'm looking for a bit more variety.
|
I tried to make a bit of a pancake pie at one time. And if I can do it, I'm pretty sure you could too.
Get a bowl and line it with a pancake. Then cook another pancake, but put sliced up strawberries in this one. Rip up this pancake and put in the bowl, over the first pancake. Then make another pancake to top it off. Add some sugar, maple syrup, and if you want, more strawberries. o_O; Then serve. |
Apple Sauce oatmeal bread is tasty and doesn't taste really of apple sauce or oatmeal, so it's pretty healthy. But you may need to go out of your way to buy a few ingredients. ^^;; Oh and the best part is, you can be a messy cook, throw all the ingredients in one bowl and mix it and it comes out delicious no matter what *giggles at memories making this with her friend*
Anyways, though, like I said before, you may need to go out and buy some of the ingredients, but they're easy to find, if you want me to post the recipe just say so. |
Are you looking for a recipe or just ideas for what to cook?
|
I'd prefer recipes, but both are good <3

Sure I can help you out with a couple. I assume since you live with your mom that you are young so I have a few pretty simple, easy to do recipes for ya.
The first is Smothered Chicken Breasts. Honestly you can do any part of the chicken, breasts or legs. Doesn't matter, pick whatever you like better. What you do is buy chicken and a can of Cambells soup. I like mushroom but you can pick any flavor as long as it's the "Cream of -----" variety. Place the chicken in a baking dish and pour the soup over top of it. Bake it in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes then reduce the heat to 350 degrees. Stir the sauce occasionally. The chicken is done when juices run clear after being pierced by a fork. Then you can just serve it up with a side or two. I like carrots and egg noodles with a tiny bit of butter over them. Quick and easy. Another dish you can do if you have a crockpot is a stew. Buy a rump roast and any kinds of vegetables you want. Put the rump roast in the crock pot and slice up your veggies....carrots, celery, potatoe, onion. Then pour in a little water or I like to use red wine and let it cook all day. Ready to eat when you come home. (Don't worry the alcohol burns off but it makes it very tasty and tenderizes the meat.) ^_^ |
Hmm, the only thing I can make right is cereal, and I still sometimes put in to much milk x3
I'm pretty much banned from the kitchen at my house, which it pretty pathetic considering i'm 16 xD |
I made a really good Chinese stir-fry the other day!
You'll need: ~Either boneless chicken breasts or boneless pork something-or-other. They cook about the same, so one can be substituted for the other ;D ~Veggies. Peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, whatever you want to use. I like using red green and orange peppers along with baby corn and water chestnuts. If you have the pre-chopped frozen peppers, half of your work is done xD ~Soy sauce or teriyaki (sp*) sause. ~Vegetable oil ~Big frying pan Imma use chicken and soy sauce in my example :3 ~Alright, first you wanna cook the meat. Cut the chicken up into cubes. If you're serving 1-2 people, use one chicken breast, if you're serving 3-4, use two, etc. (Unless you guys are chicken-addicts and don't eat your veggies Dx) ~Put both vegetable oil and soy sauce in the bottom of your frying pan. Turn the stove on and stir the two together with the chicken nearby. They won't mix until you start really cooking, so don't really concentrate too much on it. ~Start putting chicken into the frying pan once the oil is hot. I let them sit for 3-4 minutes, and then flip them and let them cook for another two minutes. Then I start stirring them to make sure they're coated in the soy sauce + oil mixture and put them on a plate with paper towels when they're done. I repeat the process until all of my chicken is cooked (they'll be a golden brown color). Add more oil and soy sauce whenever needed. ~Now for the peppers: if they aren't sliced already, slice them! Cut the mushrooms any way you like (I like them in quarters), and the baby corn/water chestnuts are already precut. Cook these the same way as you did the chicken. ~When the veggies are almost done, throw the chicken back in the pan with them. Add more oil and soy sauce. Continue cooking them until the veggies are done. Now this is optional. I'd normally put the stir-fry in a separate dish and then use some flower or corn starch with the sauce and mix that together. Then I'd pour the sauce over some rice or noodles (depending on what you have or what you want) and then serve the stir-fry on top of the rice/noodles. I hope if you do it that it comes out good for you ^^ |
Healthy Choice and Smart Ones frozen dinners. They're really tasty, but they aren't as bad for you as other frozen dinners. Lean Pockets are good too.
Also, try combining chicken, chicken stock, and veggies and cooking them. Easy, yummy soup. |
=3 I know a quick and easy chicken casserole =3 <3
|
You can make a potato salad with eggs and cut-up ham. Add some mayonnaise and refrigerate. I also like this chinese dish that my mom makes but it's so simple. You only need tomatoes and eggs. So cook the eggs and crush them into pieces and add the cut-up tomatoes. Add some sugar and water. Sugar makes it less sour. And it tastes really good to me. Just cook until it's cooked.
I don't know any other chinese dishes that only require the basic ingredients. YOu could buy the chicken wings that are frozen and sauce dipped already so you just put those in the oven. |

I'm going to try that next time I go to the store and pick up the ingredients. |
Aww, thanks!

Chicken casserole...
Boneless chicken Breast (how many depends on how many people are eating) Instant Rice x2 Cans of Cream of Chicken Soup (depending again on the amount of people eating) for two people: Set your oven for 375 degrees Let two cups of instant rice soak for about 15 mins... Take a casserole dish and open a can of cream of chicken, and pour in on the bottom spreading it even, make it thick on the bottom.... Take the rice drain it as good as you can and spread it over the cream of chicken... then Take the 3 boneless chicken breasts and cut the fat off them, as well as the cartlidge/veins(these are thick and white) and lay them on top of the rice... take another can of cream of chicken and layer it on top, make sure no chicken is showing and all you can see is the cream of chicken.. Put a lid over it and let it cook for about 30 minutes and vala chicken casserole <333 you can add veges to it, just layer it under or on top of the chicken and make sure all thats on the top and bottom of the dish is the cream of chicken <3 |
Another is one my friends mom taught me....
take 5 bags of ramen chicken soup chicken flavoring (the squares or in the jar) and canned cooked chicken...(you can find it near the tunafish) Pour 4 1/2 cups of water into a large pot, let it boil on high when that starts to boil add the crushed (or uncrushed) ramen , noodles only.. then add the packets of chicken flavoring open 2 cans of the chicken and drain them and break them into smaller pieces pour them into the pot finally add 2 teaspoons of chicken flavor (depending on if you want it really chickeny flavored or not) and stir... as soon as the noodles are done turn off the oven and there ya go <3 |

I have a major sweet tooth, so I'm gonna throw out this mini cheesecake recipe that I just finished making... Really easy and super yummy <3 Ingredients: * 1/2 cup ground up graham crackers [Get a pack of 6 graham crackers, put them all in a plastic bag, seal, and grind up with a rolling pin or a glass bottle.] * 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, room temperature [or ~ 1 1/2 cups cream cheese] * 3/4 cup white sugar * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 2 eggs Appliances needed: * Cupcake or muffin tin * Hand mixer * Measuring spoons/cup * Foil or paper cupcake liners Directions: 1. Line tin with liners. Place 1/2 a tablespoon of graham cracker crumbs in each. 2. Mix cream cheese, vanilla, and sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, and mix well. Pour over graham crackers, almost to the top. 3. Bake for 25 minutes at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Remove from pan when cool. Chill overnight [optional]. 4. [optional] cover with chocolate, fresh fruit, pie filling, etc. before serving. |
My favourite easy recipe:
Milk and flour...Mix in a bowl till its is like a dough Roll it out flat with anything you can get to make it flat lmao. But not too thing. At least 2 cm thick. Use a brush to paint a thin layer of milk over the dough Add sugar and cinnamin into something shackable. Shake until nicely mised. Spread the sugar/cinnamon concoction over the milk covered dough. Thin enough so that it wont fall off and thick enough so that it tastes good. Roll into a log of dough and suga-min. Cut into 2cm slices so as to make them like this: @ (seriously) Put in the oven until brown and puffy. Wala! Cinimon pinwheels! |
Taco meat is pretty easy. You just put some ground turkey in a pan, and stir it every once in a while. When everything's brown-ish and there's no pink left you can add some taco flavoring and mix it around. It's incredibly simple. I'm a horrible cook, but I can still make it taste pretty good.

Something you easily can warm up in a pan with hot butter, or just eggs XD
I don't like cooking, most of the time my boyfriend cooks, he likes it and most of the time he wants to cook, so I did not forced him :o |
There's this delicious potato side dish my mom makes all the time.
You dice the potatoes into cube like objects of about 1 inch on each side, put them in a large plastic bag, then add some olive oil and Lipton onion soup mix and coat the potatoes. You can add some other spices if you'd like. Then empty them into a greased baking dish and put them in an oven heated to 425 F Bake for 35 minutes or golden bound, with occasional moving so nothing burns to the pan. I'd also recommend potato pancakes, but they're horribly greasy ^^; |
