|x+2| - 5 = -4

2x - 5 = -4
----+ 5 = +5
--------------
------ 0 = 1

2x = 1

x = 0.5?

bleh, I really can't do it if I don't know what the book is asking you to do. ;;

  • Kadrias - If I remember correctly, you treat absolute values as parenthesis. So, in the example you gave:
    |x+4|-5=4 (don't remember exactly, heh)
    |x+4|=9
    |x|=5
    I'm pretty sure that's how it works. You can always google 'absolute value' if you want to.

    Still~ not wearing the pop. XP
