When people complaining of houses being an eye sore and dangerous, the government usually demolishes it, so why not regulate those two?

If you're covered, I don't see how it''s indecent exposure. Otherwise public pools would be banned, as would beaches.

The only time I've seen a building get demolished for being an "eyesore" is when it really is dangerous because it's falling apart and if kids go near to play by it they could actually get hurt. If a house has an ugly colour of paint or too many windows... it's not going to get demolished because of it. It's a personal preference for whomever owns the house... The same goes for clothes. This is about style... The style of the clothes are controlled by the person wearing them... And I feel it should remain that way. If I see someone wearing baggy pants with their actual butt (or the other side) exposed, I'd agree, it's definitely indecent exposure... But if it's covered... and no skin is showing... I just can't agree...

I am trying to keep in mind that you're against the law. You have to understand it's a bit hard with what you're saying though ^.^; But I'm trying.

I've never seen someone who's worn baggy pants (Even the kind that are purposely sagged) who did not wear a belt though... And they are careful not to let them fall... Because no matter how cool baggy pants make you, no one is going to think it's cool if your pants fall down around your ankles. I don't know... I just don't agree this should be made into some sort of law... It seems wrong and discriminating against a certain "type" of person...

Yeah - bicycle helmet ordinance?

AkashaHeartilly - Yeah, somehow I don't think they'll be running away too fast with baggy pants ^.^;

blind_phoenix 09-09-2007 12:02 AM

My Gov't teacher gave us an article about this. :roll: It's one of the most stupid and funniest things I've ever read.

It's totally taking away our rights and is unconstitutionsl. Breaking the first amendment.

My friends couldn't stop laughing.

djCherryPop 09-09-2007 12:15 AM

Wow, how dumb.

Pretty soon we'll be wearing knee socks, gray shorts, loafers, and military jackets.. along with little triangle hats, raising our hands in the air to proclaiming,

"Hail, America."

Actually... I'd probably wear that, haha... But not if I was forced to ^.^;

blind_phoenix - Did the article say "why" they are trying to pass this?

djCherryPop 09-09-2007 12:52 AM

o___o I was implying Nazis, my dear.

blind_phoenix 09-09-2007 02:19 AM

mangacatgirl - It said that baggy pants where a prison fashion and adults don't want teen/others walking around as if they came out of prison. And that it's profiling them as "Rapper-Gangstas", that is something that isn't good in our perfect sosciety! jking

The whole thing is just plain old stupid.

Hey you can't deny... "what they are" aside... that was a really nice uniform...

blind_phoenix - Are you 'serious'?! Oh my gosh... I feel like I want to spit on someone now... That's the worst reason ever o.O; Well... no I bet there could be worse ones... But still... that's incredibly lame...

blind_phoenix 09-09-2007 04:06 AM

It's all a very lame reason to take away more of our rights and force us to conform. As my teacher said! :lol:

Teeth 09-30-2007 04:25 PM

Thats...strange. :/
Pretty dumb if you ask me, since when should people be unable to wear what they love? I can understand if your jeans are low-riding half way down your legs, you can tell them to pull their pants up, but a ticket is a bit extreme.
Lame.
What a strange law.

Astromantic 09-30-2007 07:19 PM

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. :/ Baggy pants are comfortable. You have a dress code in places like school or work, NOT when you're walking down the freakin' street. =_=;

Wordstreamer 09-30-2007 07:22 PM

I think that people who wear pants that start at their knees and stop about two miles back (yes, I exaggerate) look stupid.... I wish they wouldn't do it.... But it's an even stupider thing to try and outlaw it. What's next? People wearing all-black unless they're coming from a funeral?

Bleeding Rose 09-30-2007 08:28 PM

First off, this is utterly riddiculus! I mean, technically they don't have the right to tell us what to wear. The things people come up with these days... HONESTLY!

Okay so I have a question for you, Mangacatgirl... Are you on BK?

Wow, wasn't expecting to see this thread resurrected o.O;

Erm, anyway to answer your question to me, yes I'm on BK.

Bleeding Rose 09-30-2007 08:41 PM

haha me 2! I believe I've run into you...

Angel9654 09-30-2007 08:52 PM

baggy pants!

Code:

I think that this is really dumb!! but it makes sense if you have your pants at your ankles or even your knees. but like if they r just baggy then that's ok. I am really girly but i even wear baggy pants sometimes. the bad thing is that if they outlaw them in atlanta then they  can outlaw them anywhere!!

ToriKat 09-30-2007 10:01 PM

  • Stereotypes. o_o;

    It's amazing what you'll associate with baggy pants. Gangsters. Delinquents. Just wear them and the cops will single you out as up to no good. Could have a lot to do with race too.

    While I do think it's interesting that a friend of mine told me that a lot of male shoplifters she knows wear baggy pants to stuff stolen goods into, and that I honestly always disliked looking at male students in junior high, high school, and college wearing them, somehow, a law against it seems odd. Seems like there are better ways to "handle crime" than to outlaw an article of clothing?

You would imagine so, wouldn't you?

The world is an odd place...

Luumi 10-01-2007 12:55 AM

I think this whole this whole thing is extremely dumb. What kind of country do we live in when it's illegal to wear pants that don't exactly fit? Also, if this law gets passed, I don't doubt (in a century or two) the whole country will have uniforms. Maybe the uniforms will vary from town to town, but they'll still be unneccesarily (spelling?) restricting our freedom.
How we dress is how we communicate without words. Taking away our right to wear whatever we want is like getting rid of free speech.

Colossia 10-01-2007 01:27 AM

I see the logic...I wonder where the line is drawn, though. Would medium-baggy pants be acceptable?

shellthabunny 10-02-2007 02:01 AM

Omg are they serious????

Sadly, that would not surprize me. They'd probably say that people in all black are terrorists or Satan worshipers or something ^.^;

Marova 10-02-2007 04:11 PM

If a law like that were passed, we would be moving that much closer to a nation of conformists. America could go downhill completely >.<;

keokotheshadowfang 10-02-2007 04:38 PM

As for the undergarment discussion I would be glad that they have something ON. That's my few on that matter at least.

@ Wordstreamer: I wouldn't doubt that. Even then they may outlaw that too and tell everyone to were more happier colors and to "Celebrate their life, not their death" kind of way.

@ ToriKat: People always find stuff so shop lift stuff. Baggy pants or not. I was over hearing a girl talk about how people stuff things in there bra's (if they are a girl). But yeah your right. It seems like they would come up with a better way. People will just rebel against it and cause more problems.

Allucard 10-03-2007 01:40 AM

I don't like baggy pants. I think it's a stupid trend and I don't know why it's popular.

But I also think religion is a stupid trend and I don't think THAT should be popular.

People have this misconception that it's okay to take away someone else's rights as long as it doesn't affect them. It's a stupid idea, because it will alway come back on you.
If people are stupid enough to think that outlawing baggy pants can't impact them, because they don't do it, they're wrong. If you allow police to fine citizens for inappropriate attire, then as soon as you find yourself on the unpopular side of a trend, you'll suffer too. If Atlanta can say it is illegal to wear baggy pants, then what's to keep them from outlawing TRIPP pants, with the chains? Or what's to stop them from outlawing sweatpants? How about any woman wearing pants rather than a skirt can be fined, because they should be wearing skirts anyway, right? Oh, and they'll need a slip with that, because otherwise it's indecent. And necklines have really gotten ridiculous haven't they? So let's say anything that plunges below a woman's collarbone is impermissable. In fact, men should have a collar too. Hell, let's fine every gentleman on the street without a tie. Hell, while we're at it, let's force people to say "y'all" rather than "you all"
It's absolutely UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and if it goes through someone could make a perfect case to the U.S. Supreme Court, and if the Supreme Court has one full brain between them, Atlanta will pay regret this whole issue.

Doomfishy 10-03-2007 01:48 AM

If you really want a laugh, Italy just made high heels part of the female uniform for its police officers.
