A two hour speed paint of my character, Kharana

Wow...that's amazing. I love the way you did the lighting, it's such a soft picture, perfect for the expression.

Aliena 09-12-2007 07:13 PM

Very pretty! It is really soft and serene. I love the colors you used in the sky as well as the birds flying all around! Lovely speedpaint!

  • I enjoyed the style of coloring, it was nice to look at, but I felt like the background overpowered the person. The orange vs his skin tone seemed to really wash him out, making the picture not very eye grabbing. But aside from the choices in colors, I liked it a lot. The birds were a very nice touch. Great job.

mangacatgirl 09-13-2007 12:30 AM

I do really like the picture. The background and lighting is very pretty. But is 2 hours really considered a speed paint? I thought speed paints had to be under an hour... I guess I was wrong ^.^;

aliira 09-13-2007 03:25 AM

: O so beautiful

i cant believe that was just 2 hours

The idea of speed painting to have a limit of time is completely absurd to me. Not everyone paints at the same speed so isn't it only natural that the definition of time in regards to speed painting be different for different individuals as well?

Thanks everyone for the compliments

h'omg wthey, ana~ that's so friggin' cool!! i love the feel to it~ and this speed paint is so awesome! 2 hours?! only?! XD; /tries to suck your skills >3<;

Jalen Reinier 09-13-2007 10:25 PM

Oh, wow. I absolutely adore your coloring skills and style. Though, I do have to agree that the orange washed him out a bit. D: STILL. I love this! I couldn't speed paint to save my life. ^_^;

Tittri 09-14-2007 04:19 AM

so I was looking at this on a pc the other day, not a laptop, and i think you guys are right about the orange wash. Next time I'll try to make the character stand out a bit more. thanks for the advice!

hey sho :)

seisei 09-14-2007 01:29 PM

This is so pretty! I love the elegant finger positioning, and the darker shading around his eyes really makes them stand out a lot. I actually kind of like the way the background colours work, it makes the whole picture feel warm and glowy... and a little bit edible :D

Lysander 09-14-2007 08:50 PM

2 hours? Wow, that's really good!

Well yeah technically everything in the world is relative... But does that mean a person could spent 5 or 7 hours on a piece and still call it speed painting? I mean... there has to be a limit somewhere... doesn't there? I guess I just don't understand the concept... If the time isn't limited, I don't understand why it's called speed...

Don't get me wrong though, I do like the piece. I'm just lost on the speed concept ^.^; I've always seen people brag about speed painting and saying a piece took like 10 minutes or 40 minutes or what not. So I always just assumed it meant you had to get it done in a very short amount of time.

    Beautifull!!!
    I love the way you painted it.
    And it really looks like a sunset!
    Awesome job! <333

crystal_wings6 09-15-2007 04:08 PM

Wow, I can't believe that is a 2 hour paint. XD
It looks like it took a lot more time then that. >.> Especially with the lighting and soft shading. <3
And yep the bird are soooooo pretty! And eye catching in the orange background. XD

Kaileaa 09-16-2007 04:49 AM

woooow very very nice work :D

elanorepenn 09-16-2007 04:58 AM

Lovely, I adore the way it came out! Personally I like the way he fits into the background, it makes the composition very fun! <3! If he popped out more, the composition wouldn't be quite as balanced as it is now.

But really, very well done :D!!

nocturnal miyu 09-16-2007 08:15 AM

omg... that's amazing... it would probably take me 10 hours to draw something half as good... or not even... XD

nottyreloaded 09-16-2007 04:36 PM

O_O I would love art like that, it is very good, Im an art freak, I love buying art, but im to poor on mene to buy some. And i cant believe you only spent 2 hours doing that :shock:

Tittri 09-18-2007 05:14 AM

@mangacatgirl: I don't understand why you keep trying to argue your understanding of speed painting. because frankly, I could care less of your definition of speed painting. no offense. but it is a little irritating. I posted how much time I took with the piece, so I don't think I was trying to lie about the time by saying it was a speed paint? please just do not post here with your argument anymore.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I'm still trying to improve on over all balance & the composition of my illustrations so your opinions on whether the colors are working out well or not are really helpful. thank you!

Amo_Angelus 09-18-2007 06:32 AM

Oh it's so pretty. So much better than I can do :( I love the lighting, it's perfect for the character!

Caeluma 09-18-2007 04:24 PM

awsome pictures.

mangacatgirl 09-19-2007 03:42 AM

Uh... I wasn't going to post, and I'm not trying to argue... But I feel now like I have to defend myself o.O; I never said or even hinted that you might be lying. I honestly believe it took you 2 hours... And I never said that was 'my' definition or said your's was wrong. I just merely said I didn't understand... Sorry, I never knew not understanding something could be offensive...

I'll leave now... I never said anything bad about your art... I said I liked your drawing... Maybe I should just avoid this forum now too. People take things so oddly o.O; I thought I was being polite and reasonable. I just don't understand the people on this site w.w;

See ya.

shellthabunny 10-01-2007 08:34 PM

Omg that beautiful!

iFury 10-07-2007 05:09 AM
