He blushed profusely not expecting to hear that..but he smiled nonetheless, making another grab for her tonuge.
"I thought I warned you against that." He smirked and arched his eyebrow. "Heh..if you're certain you want me to then..." He leaned in next to Shiba's face and gently kissed her cheek. "There's nothing to forgive Shiba...and I'd never think of you like that...you've been a close friend these few days. I'll never have anything but fond memories." He coughed and, blushing, turned away to look at the moon again. "Well..uhh..." He chuckled and scratched the side of his nose again. |
::I laughed hysterically as I whipped my tongue back into its hiding place. If he were to ever grab it with a bare hand, I think I'd let him.
I flailed and stamped my feet "Oh no no no no! I'd LOOOVE to see you that way again, believe me, but no. Never again." I sighed, putting a hand on his shoulder, then...I was caught off guard as his lips pressed to my cheek. I looked to meet my eyes with his but he turned away and I dropped my arms to my side. "Edward.. I need to ask you something.. if you insist on staying alone and not getting me too attached.. then why insist on kissing me? It's..going to hurt more than ever now...when you leave..." He cocked his head and thought long and hard about what Shiba said.
"I'm not sure myself...but..it's almost like I can't help myself when I'm with you. I know it's going to be sad when we have to leave..but.." He shrugged shook his head. "Mm Mnn. I can't ever recall doing anything like that to Winry..well..not since I was a kid..and then I get knocked halfway across the schoolyard for it." ::I blushed and looked to the ground, happy at what he did just then... but sad too. I moved beside him and pressed my body to the side of his, I put my left arm around his lower back, and gripped his hip on the other side.
"Edward... if youre going to leave me... I have to ask.. you not to do things like that. I... really like you.. alot... and I cant... let my feelings for you out in fear..well, in knowing, that my.." I paused, trying to find the right word, other than love. "..my feelings are for nothing. You did that before..when you held me that one night...and kissed my forehead.. and I can never forget it... but I felt so many mixed feelings at that time I didn't know what to think... He sighed and leaned his head on hers..as well as he could. He frowned and settled instead for covering her hand with his. "I'm not so sure that Mustang's not going to put me under house arrest for this, if not throw me in a cell altogether. I may not have a chance to leave you." He smirked with a wink. "You don't know that I'm not...but you'll have to take my word for it." He opened his mouth to say something when a snap brought his attention behind them. "Wha--" He was on edge..until he saw the flash of metal in the moonlight. "Al..." He warned with a growl. "Oh come off it, it's not just him." Kiri poked her head out from behind Alphonse and 'shooed' the two on with her hands. "Go on, don't let us stop you." Edward clenched his fist and his eye got a tick in the lower lid. "If you two don't mind....we're kind of busy!" He hefted a rock and nearly grazed Kiri's laughing face, to ding it off Alphonse's head. "Fine, Fine...spoilsport." She took hold of Alphonse's arm and pulled him back, laughing all the while. "Now what was I saying..." |

The weight of his head on mine... was like a dream. I closed my eyes, and tightened the grip on his hip, clenching his red jacket in my fist. His hand placed on top of mine, I blushed even more. I looked up at him, as he smiled. "What do you mean 'not have a chance to leave me?' I don't understand..?" I looked to him with worry in his eyes. I let out a giggle and rested my head against his right breast, knocking the side of my face into the ending part of the automail that attached to his chest. "ow..." I rubbed the side of my face and groaned. "I'll have to make note as to where its safe to snuggle" I joked, and moved my head lower and laid my head on his breast, then was startled as he jerked his head backwards, I released him quickly and looked back too. My face dropped, not believeing that Kiri and Al would follow us out this far. My eye twitched as well, I pointed to them. I groaned and flailed to Kiri. "C'MON NOW! YOURE RUINING IT FOR ME!!! MIND YOUR BUSINESS GUYS, KIRI...ILL FILL YOU IN LATER!" I yelled, almost laughing, but trying to remain stern. My face was bright red as I thought of what they saw from their point of view. I let out a sigh of relief as they disappeared once again and i looked to his eyes... those eyes i could get lost in. I missed looking into them... It seemed like forever since I looked into them, and I let out a sigh. I remained standing in front of him, feeling as if it weren't my place to go up and hold him again. I debated in my wind whether or not I should tell him what Mustang was planning to do with me in two weeks, in fear he'd probably ring his neck for it. He was only doing his job... but I didnt approve, but I didnt need the boys, or Kiri worrying about me while In Mustangs care.:: |
Edward turned back to Shiba and sighed.
"I don't know what to do with those two." His face was gentle and calm, but it held sadness. "Shiba...when..when Mustang talked to you..what did he say?" Edward had a sinking feeling..the first time the dark haired Colonel had spoken to Edward....he'd been given an ultimatium that lead to the life he had now...as a Dog of the Military. If he could he would spare Shiba the same fate. |

He couldn't think of what else to say..there was no excuse that he could justify...it'd been his fault that Mustang was there in the first place. |

My heart sank as he spoke ever so softly about him being responsible. I didnt turn to look at him; until I heard the slam of a tree and I swiftly about faced. "EDWARD!" I took a grip of his hand and pulled off his glove, shoving it into my pocket, and i looked it over and was red and seemed to be throbbing. "It's not your fault... don't worry so much. It was that model.. he went through my backpack..and turned it in for money. Yes.. Mustang knows.. but I dont want you to take it out on him...he's only doing his job..." I took a tighter grip on his hand and looked down at him, into his eyes which were filled with so much anger, I could seee it. "Don't..do anything...Please...I'm just going to cooperate. He.. gave me two weeks, thats when my semester is over... then I told him i'm all his. Im hoping if I do what he says and dont struggle, he'll let me go. So please... dont interfere, and let me enjoy my last two weeks...okay? You may have to leave... I don't want you to... but I cant make you stay with me if you have to go..." I pulled his hand from my face and kissed his blood red knuckels. I locked my eyes with his, keeping his hand pressed to my lips. "Don't hurt yourself in my behalf anymore.. Edward's head sunk even lower...so...Mustang really did have her in his grasp..Shiba...had two weeks before...and she'd asked him not to do anything!? He shook his head. "How can I just sit by and watch him take advantage of you like that...especailly when you...Shiba..I'm so sorry.." He raised his eyes to glance into hers but quickly jerked his gaze away..the gulit was too much. "Um...yeah..we..we should..." I looked to him as we walked back. "Hey, dont look too sad. Mustang isnt taking advantage of me, so please dont worry. If anything... Im glad I was found out by your boss... Im tired of hiding. I'll let him do what he wants to do and I'll be on my merry way. Then... Ill be free." I closed my eyes and then looked over at him. "So please...dont be sad. If I had never met you... my life would be pretty empty." I nodded, and handed his glove back to him. "No more hurting yourself Ed.. Or I'll havta do something drastic" I chuckled and yanked his braid and smiled at him, trying my damnedest to cheer him up. Edward tried to smile..he really did..but there was something that kept nagging in the back of his mind..he couldn't be as sure as Shiba was about Mustang letting her go...else he might be setting himself up for a fall. He had turned when Shiba grabbed his hair and let out a 'wah!' as he bent backwards, finding her face...upside down. "Hi." He said lightly. He righted his body and turned confused. Edward stopped...then went on...for that small span of time..his mind raced..as did his heart..bringing things back to life..it..it couldn't be possible...not without reprucussions....he and Al had realized that long ago...but..Shiba...would she really lie about that? Could she? He shoved the idea out of his head and walked on.

"Ill havta earn some cash tomorrow after school to buy a new canvas... then maybe buy some skimpy clothes...to get some guys attention... no guy cares about art. I was taken back by his comment and i brought my arms to my sides, nodding at him as a thanks for him trying to catch me. "I thought you didn't really care? Why... am I sensing a little bit of jealously from you?" I bent down to his eye level and grinned like a Cheshire cat. I sighed and whipped my head back up. "Besides, I couldnt have you pose again... that'd be just plain mean of me to make you go thought that again. I know you were uncomfortable... you just won't admit it. Edward said nothing...but his face had turned an awful red. Kiri only pouted and lay her chin on Shiba's shoulder, turning her eyes upward like a fussy child. She laughed and released her captive to scamper on ahead, back to the camp where she and Alphonse had placed a few smoked fish around the fire...almost in a renactment of their first night together. "Na, Na, I hope you guys are hungry, these little buggers were hard to catch." She flopped down next to Al, leaning against his side and grinned. "She's certainly taken a liking to you Al." Edward mused. "Don't remind me..I've been sat on enough today." "Aw, don't feel too bad Tin Man. At least I'm not heavy." |

I plopped down across from them on top of my coat and ripped my growling stomach. "You guys always know what i'm thinking huh?" I chuckled and looked to the fire, putting my hands to it. I was getting a little cold, but i didn't care put my dirty coat on. I nodded at Kiri's remark about the hint and made faces at her, as to explain we were getting some progress made. I smiled warmly at Al. "But who couldn't love you Alphonse? You're just so lovable! I feel kinda left out.. I'm the only one who hasn't gotten a ride up there." I laughed and looked to Edward, sending him a warm smile as i slid over for him to share my jacket, so he didn't have to sit in the dirt. It was a tight fit, but if he sat close, he would fit.:: |

"We try." Kiri shot her own faces back, and if one looked close enough, they could see the small faint glow of a halo when Alphonse turned to look at her. "What?" She asked once. "What am I doing?" He groaned and chuckled. "OO! You gotta see what it's like up there Ane! You can see a good distance!" "Poor Al, used like a watch tower." Edward moved to sit by Shiba, nodding at her offer. I laugh and look to her. "I feel bad enough Ed and you always ride on him, I could never do that to him." I nodded and blushed as Ed sat down. His left thigh pressed to my right, i tried to ignore it but kept on blushing, I looked over at him, he didn't seem to mind. I removed my gloves and set them to my side. I then looked to the fish and ripped it out of the ground and dug right into it, eating right off the stick. I elbow hit his and I blushed, smiling at him. "Sorry, its a tight squeeze here. But I dont mind, if you dont" I said, so only Edward could hear. |

"Aww.." "Thank goodness." As if in response to his brief relief, Kiri squrimed her way back onto the metal shoulders and placed her chin on crossed hands that she'd set on his head. "Meh..." She smiled and watched the two eat, glad that they'd made up...to some extent at any rate. "Now the only question is.." She mumbled to her matchmaking cohort. "Is how long will it last...with that Mustang man in the city?" "Let's just let them enjoy what time they have.. alright?" Edward smiled, his fish still clutched between his teeth and nodded. He didn't mind it at all. |
