  • Well, i think knittings cool, cuz you can make pretty fuzzy scarves. :3

Zane Troy 10-05-2007 09:02 PM

hehe, well thank you Peppermint. :)

akane1412 10-05-2007 09:25 PM

I see nothing wrong with such hobby, and one should do what gives him/her pleasure and not what others may thing. For example I am a girl and could never do such thing because I suck at those kind of things so if you are good and you like it, ignore whatever others may say and think, and do what you wish to do!

Go for it ^^

Zane Troy 10-06-2007 05:25 PM

Well, thank you for your comments akane1412.

And to any of my semi-regular check-ins: Holy cow! 9 pages! How did it get that far!?! :o

Muggles Running Amok 10-06-2007 06:11 PM

I've always wanted to figure out how to knit to make Harry Potter scarves. : ) I don't think you should be considered crazy for wanting to knit just because you're a guy. That would be stereotypical, so don't place that on yourself.

Plus, it takes smarts to teach yourself something.

I find it weird for a young person to knit.
I mean I thought it was for old grannies.
o_o;

BlackFeatherAngel 10-06-2007 09:09 PM

Zane, did you say you learn from the internet? Have you found any interesting patterns that aren't too hard, but are fun?

Well, actually (and this might interest Muggles up there too) I found patterns for Harry Potter scarves, but I need the right kind of yarn and needles before I can try them. Seem pretty easy though.

I think its fine for a guy to knit. Everyone likes different things.
It really depends on who you're talking to though.
I know my dad would be completely against it. He's so sexist. It really annoys me. =/

`~alisha~ 10-08-2007 09:05 PM

=3 To some it shows patience and talent. If you enjoy it, then it's fine. If it bores you to tears, then perhaps you should find another hobby. =3

Zane Troy 10-08-2007 09:10 PM

Thanks Rainbows and alisha for your comments. It's very cool to get different responses.

marissa12345 10-08-2007 09:23 PM

Guys doing that is cool. :]
Infact i want someone to knit me a scarf and a hat! lol. =D

Midnight Raver 10-08-2007 10:09 PM

my gran used to knit them lil knitted teddies that grannies seem to make

but as she got older with arthritis n stuff she sorta gave up on it, and i always kinda wanted to learn just so i could make them cool lil knitted granny style teddies you used to see :D lol

Kavari 10-09-2007 12:18 AM

Am I really crazy for wanting to knit? No, I think it's good that you do.
If you like doing it, keep at it.
Have you taught yourself anything? Lots of stuff.
Do you knit? Nope. I haven't done any knitting for a long time. ._.

On a more random note...cookies? Neh. :B

blitzy 10-09-2007 12:23 AM

I don't think it's weird for a guy to knit. If it's what you like to do then who am I to judge, I don't think it should matter if you're a guy or a girl.
I teach myself to do lots of things, I even taught myself to ride a bike when I was little. I like trying new things, so I just jump into to them.
I like knitting I find it quite relaxing. Although all I can knit is scarves and washcloths, and I get distracted easily. I've started like 5 scarves and have yet to finish any of them.

Esper 10-09-2007 12:23 AM

I don't think any kind of activities like that should be gender exclusive. D: Girls can play video games and enjoy them, and boys can knit and cook and enjoy it. It's silly to classify certain things with certain genders.

So yes I think it's a good thing you knit, and if you like it, you should keep doing it. x3

  • That's the one curse about knowing how to do it: You pretty much then make stuff for everyone. If you learn to crochet, then you could push out things like baby blankets really quickly. If you can find yarn that works well on larger guages, then you might as well do that if you need to make things fast. As long as you're pretty good at it, then even the tricky yarns (no rayon ribbons though. those are freaking hard. -dies-) usually work up really quickly and end up looking really really nice. But...yeah. Don't try ribbon unless you're wanting to test your luck. It likes to twist and knot a lot. D:

Kitty Killdare 10-09-2007 05:38 AM

knitting might make you a hipster. im not sure yet.

Ling 10-09-2007 05:45 AM

I think its cool for anyone to know how knit, its a skill that's practical, and good for keeping fingers nimble as you get older.

I only wish I knew how to knit, I knitted half a scarf a few years ago, but even then I couldn't remember how to do it properly.

`realiize 10-09-2007 05:48 AM

Nope. I don't find it weird. I don't do it, but that doesn't mean a guy knitting is weird.
lawlz cause you know, that made sense.

Dino 10-09-2007 06:24 AM

Hmm. Well, everybody does things that just ends up being fun or something they like. Knitting is perfectly fine. To some retards in the world you may seem gay. But, to me if you have the accent and act gay and, you to me are gay. But people do different things to relieve stress or to let their feelings out. For me, I write poetry.

  • Not saying that guys should force themselves to learn domestic arts as they might be called, but I think it's great when they do learn them because it also takes the burden of expectation of of women and men just a little bit more and opens peoples' minds just a little bit more, if that makes sense.

Hiroku 10-09-2007 06:35 AM

I have beaded and make jewelry? Is that ok for a man? I see no reason for what you do not to be ok. I say that there is no issue with what you do and as long as you enjoy it then do it.

Yupp thats all I have to say.

Karine 10-09-2007 09:50 PM

It's not weird at all, just do what you want to. ^_^

my friend's grandma once tried to teach us how to knit, but we kept dropping the needles and out 'scarves' turned out to be small bookmarks. xD
