Street Racing

  • So last night I was sleeping with the window open because its getting cooler and it's nice to have it open. Anyway, at 3 am some jack ass was racing his car up and down the main street about half a block away from my apartment. He would sit at the stop light and rev his engine for a good 30 seconds or so and go speeding off up and down the road.. for ever!! I tried shutting the window to block out the noise but it didn't help at all. I started thinking to myself... 'Where the hell are the police. This guy is driving 100 mph down the street at 3am.' I didn't call them myself though because I didn't feel like dealing with talking to the police at 3am. I just wanted to sleep damn it! D<

    Anyway, Discuss:
    Loud cars
Annoying things people do on the street
Street racing movies... do they glorify this annoying and dangerous sport?
    Where were the police?
Do you street race? Would you if you could afford the car?

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 04:48 PM

I hate those people! Goodness they are so annoying *hits them all over the head*.

Sorry that you where woken up so early, or late, whichever way you want to call it.

Caghyre 09-24-2007 05:00 PM

I hate people like that >.>

There's also the annoying group of kids that walk down the street at 3am drinking and laughing and just being REALLY loud while you are trying to sleep.

Eroy 09-24-2007 05:04 PM

  • It was so agrivating! I wished I had a spike strip.. you know the ones the police have.. so I could lay in on the street an shread all of their tires >D

Merelia 09-24-2007 05:09 PM

Ohhhh, that happens often here too! In fact, sometimes some idiot will race down our small and narrow road! I swear, our street is soo small, and yet, I don't know what gets these random people to drive 60 mph down our road. >_< Makes me furious!

I usually can't sleep with my window open. If it's not the cars racing around here, it's my neighbors across the street arguing with one another.

And I don't think to call the police either. I'm sure they wouldn't make it on time to catch the cars anyway.
:?

I dislike them too. We're lucky we don't have many street races around my area. There is a long industrial road not to far away though, they tear down there like no tomorrow.
We don't often get roudy people either. Only on the odd occasion.

I'd laugh if you did that xD. If you someday do please record it, and I want a copy. They deserve it anyway.

I always daydream about doing that! XD That and slicing their tires.

Eroy 09-24-2007 05:16 PM

  • Muhahaha it would be awesome! They totally derserve it. Annoying pricks! D<

Merelia ~ I love sleeping with the window open when I can. We don't have central air conditioning so the window unit makes it way way way too cold in my room D:

Ohh, I hear ya. We don't have central air conditioning either, so we practically have to resort to the window being open. And with this gorgeous weather, it's heaven. ^_^

But with all the noises outside, I have to decide whether or not to sleep with a cold but noisy room, or a stuffy, quiet room.

Eroy 09-24-2007 05:23 PM

  • Ya that's us too. We live in a pretty busy part of town so there's always noise and people and cars. I'm usually pretty good at ignoring most of it.. last night was just rediculous though!

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 05:25 PM

Eroy: Post it on youtube so they will all get scarred.

Sleeping with the window is awesome, I have a big bed that sits right under the window, I love to sleep with the window open and the blinds up. So I can star up at the nose and the stars and be woken up when the sun rises. Sometimes I can't do that, stupid people driving to fast and to late at night...

Eroy 09-24-2007 05:30 PM

  • nonsense ~ HAha I will! *should I ever actually do it without the driver of the car killing me* rofl!

I sometimes do that. I will pull up the blinds, and stare up at the stars while laying in bed.

As for waiting for the sun, I usually close down the blinds when the sun shows up. I go blind with the sun. XD

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 05:37 PM

Eroy: Yes you will 8). Don't die! Thats not good for your health, also I probably wouldn't get to see the video!

Merlia: Yes its so great. Except where I live you can't see that many stars, but in the mountains in India, my goodness its absolutely beutiful. Up in the mountains, so close the starts. Its gorgeous, I never knew how many stars there where and how clear it can be.

Hey we both have that problem! Thank goodness for sunglasses. I close the blinds once I get up and go about my day, works best.

Merelia 09-24-2007 05:40 PM

I have to have my sunglasses with me always when I'm outside. I literally go blind, squinting the whole time if I don't have any sunglasses on.

Kinda scares me, since I drive. So it's mandatory for me to have sunglasses on, or I might drive poorly.

Oh, I wish I could get a good view of the stars! I drive out to the countryside, but I still can't see them. :(

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 05:47 PM

Merelia: I'm sorry you have to through all that. My eyes aren't that sensitive.

Just don't drive without sunglasses, always put a pair in your car. And be careful and everything.

Aw... I'm sorry, if you ever have a chance you should go out to the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from anywhere and just look up at the stars.

I might have pictures, but I don't think I took any, I feel stupid for doing so .

Merelia 09-24-2007 05:53 PM

I definitely take a pair of sunglasses with me always. If not, I go back into the house to get a pair. I don't like taking chances.

I wonder what sort of camera would capture stars in the sky. I always wanted to take pictures of the stars and moon, but my camera is not that advanced to be able to actually capture it all. It all turns into a big blur.

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 05:58 PM

Merelia: Yeah good idea, don't take those type of chances.

Thats not cool. My camera works, well its a nice one, I have a digital and a regular film camera. Both seem work.

...I lost a good friend to street racing. He was trying to get me to go with him to watch them one night, and I refused saying it was stupid. We got into a big argument and he lwent to the races...

I found out the next morning that one of drivers lost control and hit my friend. They said that his death was instant.

I'm sorry to hear that about your friend. :( Street racing can be very dangerous. Soo many accidents, and people dying young because of it. Most people don't know how serious street racing really is.

Admonish Misconstruction 09-24-2007 06:36 PM

Street racing is a dangerous sport, also people get killed over it in fights, not just while racing...

Psychominako 09-24-2007 06:40 PM

Thanks, I guess. Street racing is very dangerous, and a lot of people don't realize that. After my friend passed his parents and I started a group that went to other schools and expressed these dangers and tried to deter other kids from taking or losing lives. Its been several years now, and I have had to move away, but I believe others are still carrying on in our stead.

Very true. Betting often times are involved, and if you don't pay what you owe, they will go after you. The stories I hear are ridiculous.

The only racing I support are the ones where they specifically have a track for people whom want to race one another and bet. It's a closed area, safe from the streets, and anyone could join in.

Skailer: It's wonderful what you are doing for the community. Often times people need a wake up call from someone whom has experienced such a thing. I'm glad you are raising awareness of the dangers of street racing. <3
