Well you know when people go home we begin to monitor their CCTV. If someone's there who's not supposed to be we shout at them if they set fires or steal we call 999. We watch buisnesses. when they're closed.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 02:26 PM

Oh right. I get it now :)
Do you catch a lot of people? o.O

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 02:29 PM

A fair few. They seem to believe that just crawling on the floor will stop us detecting them but our system is so sensative that a cloud will send an alarm trigger through to us telling us there's something happening on a site! There's no way to avoid us but people think that they can!

I've sent a fair few people running from sites. Never had to call the police or fire engines yet though *touches wood*

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 02:32 PM

Your job sounds so funny!
You expect a cloud to float down and start robbing a business place? XD Hehe.

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 02:33 PM

LOL no. You can see the shadow moving so the alrams come in. My work is awesome, but I just hate doing a day shift when I usually do nights.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 02:35 PM

Yeah .. i wouldn't expect someone to come along during the day.
Most robbing takes place at night where no one can see them. >.<

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 02:38 PM

Not always. One site we monitor kids came along at about 4 o clock and started vandalising a site! But yeah mostly it's just false alarms. Like a cloud went away or the sunshine reflected off of a windshield. Or someone walking past the site but close enough to be in our cameras. Or the guard/guard dog wandering around. *watches the pretty puppy*

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 02:42 PM

Aw, bless the puppy. :) Hehe.
I really need to get a job. I'm being so lazy about it .. i think i just expect one to fall out of the sky o.O

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 02:47 PM

He's so adorable! But there's a bridge over this yard and kids have been known to throw things at him! Then the microphones turn on and they get verbally abused and run away although if they don't leave when we shout we are allowed to phone the police about them. Little guard doggy is well guarded by CCTV :)

My sister's like that. My job did fall into my lap though.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 02:51 PM

The evil children! That's so mean.
I hope they pee their pants when they hear someone through the microphone!

How did it fall into your lap? o.O

Ayx 10-07-2007 02:55 PM

Whoa, the forum seemed pretty packed yesterday, lots and lots of newbies stopping by. :3

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 02:58 PM

Oh they do. The last thing they expect is the voice of god (and believe me it does sound like the voice of god. Loud, commanding and from no discernable source) telling them exactly what we think of them. Which I can't repeat online because I'd be in trouble with the mods for not being PG-13 and with SIA if anyone from there uses this site :P We're supposed to be polite but people who do that don't deserve politness!

Well Weh I was little my mum worked nights so during the holidays I went to work with my dad. Whilst I was there a new engineer joined and became my dads mate. Now as I was always either in dads van or helping him on site the new engineer got to know me at work as well as at home because he came to visit and I was a daddies girl.

So he started this buisness and when he got to a point where he could hire someone he asked for me because he knew me and knew I was more than capable. My interview was me surfing ebay with his fiancee while my dad talked to him about systems and his mum watched the monitor. We marked it as an interview although it wasn't :P When we hire next I'll be involved with who we take on so there will be interviews and viewing of the CVs before we hire people. My boss never read my CV although he has it somewhere.

Yeah. I know a lot of them came by on the referal system, but I looked at them all first and they did seem to be real.

Ayx 10-07-2007 03:01 PM

Yeah, some seemed pretty loyal. I just had some issues regarding with fakes like that on Gaia, and it kinda ruined the experience on helping newbs, that's mostly why I came to this thread, to try to regain my spirit. :] <3

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:04 PM

I can just imagine a godly voice booming out of nowhere! I think that would freak me out let alone little kids who are being mean to the poor guard doggy.

Well i think your personality got you the job! But that sounds like a nice way to have got it :) Nothing too stressful with interviews and what have you. :D

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 03:10 PM

Yeah, I'm going to speak with the mods on ways to combat the problem effectively but for now we are able to deal with fakers. As mentioned in the PM :)

hehe it freaks full grown men who come in in like 3's and 4's let alone some kids! And well you heard how what we say to the intruders can be retreated just imagine the voice of god being nasty to you! We'll teach them to respect animals!

Yeah but as I was sending off to bars and stores and receptionist positions to have someone out of the blue ask me to work in something I wasn't even too sure I wanted to do was pretty much falling into my lap. I'm not sure now why I wasn't applying to these roles. I guess I dodn't want to spend £100 getting my cert. But my boss payed for that here.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:15 PM

That must be an hysterical sight! All these guys ready to attack and then BOOM.
'This is God .. go away you idiots'
XDD.

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 03:16 PM

LOL I am now so tempted to say that next time!

Oh I'm redesigning our front two pages. Any suggestions?

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:23 PM

Ooh, umm maybe different colours for more important stuff?
I don't know.
I ish no good at designing things >.<

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 03:29 PM

Yeah I thought about that. But using more than one colour and the default is against the rules so I'm going to ask Juru if it'll be ok to do it or not. I was thinking messages to newbies in one colour, messages to mommies and daddies in another and information in another. So our adoptees requirements would be one colour, our newbies in another and rules and things in another. Yes I am working on some rules so our system isn't taken advantage of. Ayx isn't the only one concerned.

Anyone think of any content that needs including?

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:34 PM

I think you can use more than one .. i think they mean when you add in the tags where they're not needed like:

Code:

Welcome everyone,
These are the rules.

Well something like that anyway >.<
I use different colours in my quest thread and no one's said anything about that.

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 03:36 PM

Hmmm. I'll check when Juru comes back to me about the last question I asked her.

We're sorting out how to deal with any fake accounts coming here to waste our time when we could be helping real newbies.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:39 PM

Yeah, it's best to check with somebody first :D

Amo_Angelus 10-07-2007 03:42 PM

They're apparently a bit busy though. The referal system isn't only a bad thing for us. The mass sign ups are causing them a fair bit of hassle. I don't think this was thought through properly, or maybe too much faith was placed in the general mene population. People never seem to realise that we have some bad users around here too.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 10-07-2007 03:48 PM

Yeah. I've noticed most new users have been from the referral system.
Although i haven't come across the baddies on here yet, i know there has to be some.
Which is not good! They are silly people.
