I'm on OS X and loving it. I have no idea how I lasted through Windows for so long. I've had my Mac for a bout two years now.

At my school I have to use Vista and it confuses and pisses me off all the time. My poor mom had to buy a new computer and was forced to get Vista and she keeps calling and asking me for help. :? I have to keep telling her I don't know, I hated XP too.

I dunno I just really love OS X and I never have any problems. Everyone I know that has Vista hates it. I know it's new and has bugs but it is Microsoft you'd think they'd have it all worked out before releasing it to yanno...world.

I'd have to say I'd never go back to Windows, now that I'm running Linux. There's more legwork involved if you run into problems, but it's lighter, faster, and much more efficient.

That, and it gives me a Japanese OS for free, which is a total bonus.

Definitely need to try out OS X for illustration reasons, though. I hear excellent things!

If I upgraded to a new OS I'd probably go for Ubuntu Linux. I'd save my XP computer to run all of my windows music software, but from the looks of it Linux is the way to go. I've heard so many horror stories about Vista and it's mass of incompatibilities that it seems to be very useless as far as operating systems go. I'd rather an outdated operating system that runs smoothly than an polished piece of shit that's little more than eye candy and a cd-rom that would probably work better in your microwave.

As the old saying goes: "They say you can hear the devil when you play a Microsoft cd backwards, when you play it forwards it installs Windows."

i have vista on my desktop and Kubuntu on my laptop.

To be honest...i prefer vista. Why? When i put a cd in my drive, a window pops up and voi la! INSTALL. it's a lot more complicated on linux. And frankly...i have no idea why people are so upset with vista. I've heard so many people (who normally have never had vista) complain about how shitty it is. I've had vista since early April and have yet to come across one single problem.

Windows XP. Vista is too messed up, Apple products are known for short lives and breaking easily and not working and well, Linux is outdated. o_o'

Linux is outdated? Kubuntu had a major update like...3 weeks ago.....

I'm still happy with my vista though ^^

And i am buying another laptop, but it will probably be a Mac. Only reason to get it, for me, is for my art projects. Apart from that i still prefer my vista. Haven't run into campatability issues yet either ^^

i highly doubt it. Mostly because i've been using vista for 7 months and can assure you that it's fine. I'm sure some people have run across a few issues with it, but overall it is actually a good operating system. It's just not cool to like PC anymore. Too man MAC fangirls/boys and linux fangirls/boys out there. Mac finally sucks less so everyone's diving on it.

  • Otonashi: I'm guessing you didn't read the full on Vista Terms of Service then. They put in more binding factors than any other company by far from what i've seen. That plus the fact that it has just about (if not more) exploits to get into than XP, and you basically have a pretty-looking system that has little usability. Even the bit that is there is comprimised by the lack of serious backwards compatibility.

    This part is pure opinion:
There are never too many Mac (or linux) users in the world.

    Back to info i've researched:
Macs basically were pathetic for the period in which Steve Jobbs was not in the company. Started getting better with the introduction of OS9 (yeah, may not have been the most user-friendly at first, but it was becoming outdated by the point most of us tried using it), and then became much more secure and user-friendly with OSX. So I wouldn't say that it sucks less, but that it has revived itself to its former glory. :]

As for Linux, if you know how to use it to a decent extent, you're much safer going with Ubuntu than Vista.

I did. And i heard all the horror stories. And i'm on my desktop up to 15 hours a day on Vista. I've loaded all my old games on it, all my old software, my old printer, 2.1 speaker system, and am about to get an external harddrive for it. Use for up to 15 hours a day for 7 month, doing art, school work, gaming, and a few other things...and STILL have yet to run into one single problem. Completely serious. I didn't buy the computer for vista, but that's what the desktops come with now and i wanted a new one so i said, "Oh what the hell." and got it. And i'm glad i did. I know 10 other people that have it at my school on their laptops right now. One has an issue because her laptop barely has enough ram to run it. The only main problem that i've seen that isn't userbased is one of my friends has issues running ONE game. That's it. Out of 11 people down here in the south, someone encountered 1 minor problem.

Now i'm not trying to be critical. But most the people i've encountered down here that complain about how bad vista is have never actually used it. Have you ever used it to its fullest extent to get an actual opinion of it, or are you going by what you read? Pure curiosity here.
