Super Smash Bros. Brawl :0
(I looked around, but I don't think there's a thread about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, or at least one that's been active. :3)
New Update: They pushed back the release date to February 10th, which means we have to wait an additional two months for it to arrive in the states. D: Past Update: It's finally announced, Sonic is in! http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara...ic_071010a.jpg What are your thoughts on his inclusion? Sonic was the number one requested character, but personally I have some worries about how he'll attack. Did you have a different non-Nintendo character you wanted included? Or are you upset that they've decided to include third-party characters? Anyone else excited about Super Smash Bros. Brawl's release? Other characters they have announced: New Challengers: Pit from Kid Icarus, Wario, Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Meta Knight from Kirby, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, a Pokemon Trainer, Lucas from Mother 3, and Sonic. Returning Challengers: Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Samus, Zelda, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Ice Climbers |
My thoughts: OH HELL YES XD

Awesome! Thats really, really, cool. Sonic is awesome, and I do like the Super Smash Brothers series.
I hope they still have Fox and Falco though, the only two characters I use XD. |
Ugh, I've not heard the end of Sonic being in brawl.
I mean, I like sonic and all, but I dunno. I like my nintendo games to have nintendo characters in them. Maybe I'm biased though, I just haven't heard the end of him D< And Snake scares me ;3; |

@Sakura: Aww, but I like Snake. XD I agree when I first heard it I wondered how he might fit in, but the way they've introduced him and the funny videos of Snake's comrades giving him tips about the other characters makes me glad he's included. As for Sonic, I still am apprehensive. I think he's a choice that will please a lot of people, but there are some people (especially among my friends) who loathe the idea of him being in the game. As long as his controls work out, I won't be too disappointed. It does urk me a bit though since it feels like "zomg, Nintendo vs. Sega!" |
XD I've never really played any Metal Gear games, so I've not formed an opinion on him yet :3 I will when it comes out though
I don't know about Sonic, I feel a bit like a party pooper when I say I don't think it's cool that he's in the game. It's seems like, kind of fanboysih and I know it'll make a lot of people happy but then again a lot of people are noobs D< Oh well, i guess I'll have to see when it comes out, I'm sure the rest of it will be fantastic though! I loved the other games, and I'm sure Brawl will be better, regardless of whether Sonic's in it or not ;D |
I know ._.
I was all like "Holy steve on a steve sammich .__." Steve REALLY wants brawl now. |
@Sakura: I don't think it's wrong to have a different opinion, so I wouldn't worry about that. :3 I do think it feels odd to throw Sonic in the mix, but I'm reserving my judgment until I get to play as him. If he ends up being an all around good character, then I'll accept him as a valuable addition rather than an eyesore.
|
The only thing I can honestly think is..."ergh." ><* I just can't stand that annoying little fast furball. Mario's always been the top video game character out there and seeing Sonic, a Sega character, being thrown into a Super Smash Bros. game, which the majority of the characters are from Nintendo-exclusive games, almost makes me sick. D:
|
@Parasite: I grew up playing the Sonic games, so I don't have anything against his character so much (although I'd say most of the new games, if not all, are just not as good as the old ones... or they're bad in general.)
But I also played Mario games, and loved them as a kid too. It does seem odd to cross their domains, but Sonic's fighting (based on the video from the site) seems like it might make him a pretty solid addition. At least he can rival Fox's speed. |
I've never been happier. I've been a Sonic fan since I was young, so this is fairly awesome news. Even better than Solid Snake, I think. I cannot wait for this game to come out. Wii sales are going to go through the roof, no problem.
Well done, Nintendo. Well done. |

It does seem like he's getting thrown in there to please rthe fans, because I'm sure they know how many people will buy a Wii just to play Brawl with Sonic. I know at least 5 people in one of my classes who are. But if he's cool, I won't complain XD I'm sure Nintendo know what they're doing. :3 |

Yeah, gotta admit those graphics are gorgeous *A*
Never seen a sonic look so good XD And I love the rest of the characters. All the old games they've included makes it worthwile, for the lols. XD |

But yes, the graphics do look really nice and polished. Gameplay is more my priority, but it is refreshing to see things look a bit more up to speed compared to other systems. I also like the idea that they're working to connect all the character into a story line almost with the mission modes. That would definitely improve single-player gameplay, but I hope it's not done cheesily. |
And you have to play the harder modes this time around! I think that's quite a cool idea.
I also like good graphics, because now we can say the Wii actually DOES have the graphic power. I'm sick fed up of hearing people say "OMG WII GAEMZ R UGLEE I LOEV PS3!!!" and other words tot hat effect. Twilight Princess was gorgeous (awesome game, too <3) But the graphics look even better for Brawl. Yey :3 |
@Sakura: Yeah, fanboys did have a point that the Wii's games didn't have as nice of graphics, but I don't think they can argue with which system is selling more. XD
I thought Twilight Princess' graphics were nice, but could have been sharper (which is due to it being built for the Game Cube initially). Great game, even though I stopped in the middle of it. But yes, I'd say SSBB is a big improvement. Maybe not compared to the new Metriod Prime, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. EDIT: I think I missed where it said you have to play the harder mode? >_> *checks the site* |
i want to play SSBB but its not out yet there is so much cool charectors and other stuff you can do http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html
thats the site i use for day to day updates |
You don't /have/ to play the harder mode.
But some stuff is unlockable through it I mean ;3 Yeah, Metroid's fricking awesome graphics-wise. I drool nao *A* And yeah, someone tried to tell me the ps3 was winning today. I was bitch pls you can't even beat teh xbox. |
@Sakura: I understand now. XD Yeah, it was a bit lame that you could skate by on easy, but I thought some of the challenges were pretty hard in the last game. Then again, I've never been that good at SSBB, and shortly after I was starting to hold my own against my older brother and his friends since I played it more, we lost the game disc. =/
@nemisku: Yep, I use the same site. I put a link to it in the first post already actually. ^^ I hope people are lying when they say they pushed back the release date though. @[email protected]; |
._. Sonic Team ought to be bought by Nintendo, I swear.
Nintendo know what they're doing with Sonic. SEGA don't seem to nowadays. What, with Naka laying off most of the old ST. See how the Sonic in Brawl has aspects of both 3D-era and Genesis-era designs? Best example is the animation when he's wobbling on the edge of a platform - it screams Genesis! Oh, and the sounds in the video of his appearance... It's so nostalgic! I really love the addition of Sonic to Brawl. It means Smash Bros. isn't a Ninty fighter anymore, sure, but with a few other characters it can help settle those age-old playground debates of whether Sonic would beat Mario in a fight. :P I grew up with both Mario and Sonic, but Sonic prevalently because my mother liked the first game too, encouraged my sister by getting her a Megadrive with Sonic & Knuckles for the Christmas of '95, and encourages me by knowing that, if she's struggling for gifts in terms of games, she can always buy me a Sonic game. :D My growing up with Sonic thus has made me slightly biased to the addition of him. I can understand why some people might not like the addition... but the Mario-Sonic rivalry/partnership is perfect in my eyes, especially when it's one game, mwaha! Slightly off-topic, but I think Sonic in Brawl was inevitable, not only due to fan demand, but the development of the Mario and Sonic at the Olympics game. Which also looks incredibly fun! |
