I think that abortion is wrong in every aspect. For instance, if a woman is raped there's only the smallest possible chance that she'll fall pregnant, and even if she did fall pregnant, the baby had nothing to do with what happened to it's mother ; there's no reason why it should be punished for something it didn't do.

As for the parents using the right things to prevent pregnancy and the woman still falling pregnant, that wasn't the baby's fault either. If they aren't ready or able to have a baby at the time, then maybe they could offer the baby up for adoption or give it to a foster parent until they're ready.

But, of course, it's all up to the mother to decide what's best for her children. But I don't think a woman should destroy a defenceless life for no reason other than discomfort or revenge.

Anyways~! That's all I need to say! ^^

The chicken didn't have any fault of being before humans in the food chain, they shouldn't be eaten, cause, you know, they're living creatures, and we humans could go vegan and obtain proteines from somewhere else. Those who still want to eat chicken despite it becoming illegal will most likely die of salmonella.

It's not the woman's fault she was raped, or was it?
It's not the fault of the woman that the pill, the condom, the spermicide failed, or was it?
It's not the fault of the girl that her body is still too little to carry pregnancy without it straining her body, or is it?
It's not the fault of the woman that her income is becoming lower and lower due to the recession, to a point where she can barely support herself, or is it?
It won't the fault of the pro-lifers that if abortion became illegal many desperate women would die from back-alley abortions, or would it be?

Circumstances would be a big part in my views on this topic, do i believe its right for a woman to decide at the last minute she wants an abortion.... .no. If a woman waits until the last minute, it looks more and more human, gaining consciousness slowly.
But I do believe a woman should still hold the right to decide if a rape-spawn will be born. It may sound cruel and unusual, but with every unnecessary birth, more strain is put on the economy. Women with no means to support a child will turn to the government for help. Taking more money from the tax-payers pockets.
In either case, the total ban of abortions would be an insane move, bringing more trouble than its worth. As the poster before me stated, desperate women would go to people who practice medicine illegally. This would have even more messy results, death, infections, organ stealing, it's not a pretty outcome.

I'm of the opinion: woman's body, woman's choice. Speaking as a female this is a very pertinent issue for me. My choice is that I would carry and child to term and raise it as my own unless there were very serious factors preventing me from doing so like financial, or familial issues.
For instance, if the father were abusive or a danger to small children I would give the child up for adoption. This being of course assuming there was some reason I could not leave him myself, which does happen.
But just because that's my choice does not give me the right to decide for every other woman. Who can say why she makes the decisions she makes? Maybe she feels that she is unfit to be a mother, or suffers from postnatal stress syndrome already or has in the past. No one can make that decision but her. My only caveot is that the woman that wishes to abort a pregnancy first be made aware of the other options available to her, then given several sessions of counceling. If after that she still chooses to go through with it it is no one's business but her own.

I think it's okay, provided that it's for the reasons that you listed. Personally, I'm all for "It's a woman's choice, let them do what they want." I don't think that abortion should be used as some sort of birth control, but whatever.

Sariwa 08-02-2009 03:31 PM

I'm pro-choice. As you said, it should be allowed as long as you have a reason why.
I personally don't think I'd have an abortion, unless the pregnancy would harm me or the baby. I would probably try to find an adoption family if I wasn't able to take care of the baby myself.

Cheya 08-02-2009 07:07 PM

I'm for choice in any and every case. As for fathers, they can have a say but NOT the choice and if a father wants to opt-out of parenting, helping to support a child he should be able to do that... besides, a guy that wants to opt-out isn't father material in the fist place.

Everyone has a reason why. You don't get abortions just because you feel like it at the time.

Even something as stupid as "well, it's a boy and I wanted a girl" is a reason why. To them, it's a good reason.

ChOcOlAtE_PiE 08-03-2009 07:52 PM

I think abortions should be legal everywhere because sometimes it may not just be someone who went out and did their business, got pregnant and wants to get rod of it. It may have been someone who was raped and their parents have the money to get rid of the child. It may have been a child that got molested and raped and is too young to be carrying any babies

Oh wow, if someone wanted an abortion for that reason, I wouldn't stop them.
And I'm against abortion in most circumstances!
But something like that would be immature.

Hughesmunculus 08-03-2009 08:16 PM

I really think it should be illegal. There isn't really a reason to kill it because of anything. If you don't want the baby put it up for adoption. It doesn't matter if a woman was raped or was just careless, it wasn't the fault of the fetus/child, whatever you want to call it, put it up for adoption instead.

Regarding rape, I honestly think it's unfair that a woman have to go through 9 months of pregnancy, and then the pain of labour.
Why should she have to suffer further, with daily reminder for 9 months?

Why should she have to carry a child and explain to all her friends and family that she was raped? Maybe she wouldn't want them to know?

Why should she be left in pain for weeks after giving birth (or sometimes longer)?

Why should she go through all the trouble of putting the child into care?

That's adds to unnecessary stress.

I'm against abortion, like I've said, in most circumstances.
But even being Catholic, I think that rape victims should not need to go through with pregnancy.

A woman would be in a state of mental anguish if she were raped. I don't think she needs reminders.

It's illegal here, and I'm glad it is.
It's even illegal to travel over to England to have an abortion from here.

But, in some cases, a court will allow it. Rape being one.

I dislike posting links to posts I've done in the very same page, but I guess it can't be helped.

I'd like to hear your views on abortion.

I personally think it shouldn't be that big of a deal as long as you have a good reason.
Examples:

A woman who got raped should have the possibility to get rid of child if she really doesn't want it.

A twelve year old girl can't take care of herself let alone a child.

A woman whose life it at risk if she carries through with the pregnancy.

Now if someone was too lazy to use a condom or birth control pills it's their own fault and they shouldn't have the choice to remove it.

So, what are your views on the subject?

Also to make something clear:
Abortion is NOT murder.

The law says that murder only goes for people who are alive and born.
So as long as it's a fetus, it does not count as murder.

I believe abortion is allowable. I agree with all of your examples as well. If a person can die, or has no possible way of caring for/giving the child a good and well life then it is a possible option. I am sort of biased otherwise though. Because, no matter how young you are, if you have sex and get pregnant, it is all on yourself. I personally don't care how young/old I am, If I can/can't take care of the child. I would never ever abort. I would either let my mother/father care for my child until I got on my feet, or had someone else in the family. I would also never put my child in foster care. But that, in itself, is a WHOLE other conversation.

BUNNYLOVE826 08-04-2009 02:57 AM

i have to agree with sparkle abortion is wrong to a extent a child didnt aske to be born into a world where its not loved, and its not right i feel its still killing developing or not its a baby its innocent how can people do such a cruel and heartless thing without the guilt hitting them if they dont want children then use protection if not dont bring a child unless your willing to take care of it and love it

kira_yiyi 08-04-2009 03:03 AM

im think it turely murder i mean it i mean it is a hueman mainly so it sould be agenst the law . no mater how old are you:shock:

Fabby 08-04-2009 03:58 AM

@Hughesmunculus- Who's going to take care of these babies? Are you going to do it? Is anyone going to do it? Very few people ever want to adopt; I believe I read that only about 1% of couples ever actually adopts a child. You can bet that most of them will only want a newborn, too. About 10% of children put into foster care never get adopted as is... and that's no life to lead. Consider that if abortion were illegal these numbers would be significantly higher and there wouldn't be enough food or clothes or space for all of them, and there's no way all of them would be adopted. What kind of life is that for the child? Why should we contribute to overpopulation with more babies that are unwanted?

@BUNNYLOVE826- For the hundred thousandth time, you can be on every type of birth control known to man and STILL get pregnant. Around 50% of the women getting abortions report that they were on birth control, and ~15% say they used it correctly.
It's about perspective... I would feel much guiltier dropping my child on a doorstep and crossing my fingers that it gets a good life than I would not having the child at all.

CaitieCullen 08-04-2009 05:37 AM

@ kira_yiyi:
A fetus is not a human. It's a vessel of cells with the potential to become a human. And what's more worth it-a young girl who has yet to fully live her life; or a deformed bundle of cells that has no thoughts, no feeling, no defined form, or any certainty of living?
And age does matter.

Matsuri Chan 08-05-2009 04:31 AM

My belief is that abortion should be illegal out of the cases of rape or incest.
I believe that abortion is NOT murder, but it IS killing.
I also think that a better way too solve an unwanted pregnancy, is to set your child up for adoption.

Kah Hilzin-Ec 08-05-2009 05:17 AM

So is killing when you do it to a chicken or a pig. Also, there are MANY other reasons why a woman shouldn't have a baby other than rape.

Oh and by the way, I've yet to find nature giving priviledges out of pity. What makes rape-produced fetuses less important than accidental ones?

Fabby 08-05-2009 05:34 AM

Adoption doesn't solve an unwanted pregnancy. You have to go through all nine months of it in order to give the kid up for adoption. Abortion is the only solution for an unwanted pregnancy.

XRazorwireX 08-06-2009 03:31 AM

I think abortion should be available whatever the reason. While I don't think its a good excuse to sleep around, the woman should always have the right to do what she wants with her body. There are so many reasons for getting an abortion, and I think if they took that away from us, lives would be in danger (A woman finds out she risks death if she carries her baby full term..etc.) I am 100% pro-choice. Also, there is no sense in raising a child if it was not intended to be. That sounds like a terrible life to live, knowing your parents never wanted you :(

Hagalaz 08-09-2009 12:13 AM

I don't care either way. It is a personal choice. I, personally, would prefer to keep the government out of my vagina.

Codette 08-09-2009 12:19 AM

I think that abortion should be an option if something does happen, not as a replacement for birth control. If you're going to have unprotected sex, accept the consequences. But it shouldn't be illegal.

Agent HEY-LEE 08-09-2009 12:41 AM

I liked everything you said until...

First of all, if they're too stupid to use protection than can you imagine how they'll be as parents?! D:
This isn't something you can say, "You screwed up and now you have to pay the consequences," to. It's a baby, a life you have to love, care, and provide for.
That said, what if they're just not in the position to have a baby? Are you okay with them putting the kid up for adoption? Did you know-correct me if I'm wrong here-that over 98% of adoptions are terminated after legalization? It can seriously mess with a kid's head if they keep being adopted only to be sent back again. Not to even mention the type of people who might adopt them.

I think it's their decision. They're the parents after all. (But if they're doing it to try and keep their relationship alive then I think someone needs to step in and say, "You shouldn't do it.")
